Why do I keep hitting the person being unhooked?
I know I am aiming more at the person doing the unhooking than I am the one being unhooked but somehow the game registers it as a hit on the wrong person.
Even more annoyingly, I am usually try to perform a grab.
Any tips other than trying to walk around to hit them from behind?

Also probably has something to do with I-frames on unhook.
EDIT: LOL I edited the post after realizing I already replied. You caught me OOOOOF

I have this problem too, i try and go to hit the person unhooking, i am on aim, swipe at them and then i hit the person coming off the hook. Great as a surv, sort of an old MOM, get a free hit, not good as the surv. Maybe we both when playing need to wait until the person is on the ground, lifted off and try?

Because autoaim is ######### up.

I was watching a friend stream some Huntress gameplay. At one point he had a Feng on the hook, David ran up for the save right next to my friend and he threw a hatchet at him that went RIGHT through him as he did the unhook animation.
I think it's some sort of bug with survivor hitbox during the unhook, and only for the rescuer. I've had similar things happen to me many times on many different killers. Heck I've swung through the rescuers back sometimes and hit the guy that just got unhooked (who had i-frames BTW). Attack just passed right through the guy.
Hope they look into this. It's really lame TBH.

I'm going to have to try deliberately hitting away from the hook and hope autoaim corrects it so I get the unhooker instead of fresh air.

According to Mclean, there is no autoaim. The only thing they have is a sort of system to make the animation look smoother. When you click, the game says if you hit something or not, and the animation plays in a way to represent that.

For a safe attack while the animation of un-hooking is actif, you need to be facing not aiming the survivor. So always try to position your self in a way that your facing the survivor going for the save 😁

Oddly the answer I accepted was the one about me being a tunnelling poopyhead lol.

Well it's false; often you can be directly on a survivor, theyre in the middle of your screen, you hold M1, and it decides to suddenly face you upwards or to the side and you hit the sky or wood, etc.

The devs think there is no autoaim. I'm sure they genuinely believe that.

Just telling ya what the devs said.

I know, I'm just saying what they said is obviously false and many killer players can attest to it; not an attack on you

It may well make a big difference; I notice a lot of input lag specific to this game that affects a ton of people relevant to PC, including having to spam M1 in order to do a basic attack or do a gen/begin healing (which often costs a game losing amount of time) and I wouldn't be surprised if somehow this was related.
Legion has a particularly fun glitch where if you go past (but not quite on them) a dying survivor while chasing someone, it will actually decide to flick your camera up and hit the hook even though you were right against them and aiming away. I remember discovering this with legion 1.0 when spamming the power on the last hook of the game, and finding it happened all the time.
