Huntress needs a crosshair

For beginners. I let some friends playing Huntress and they asked me "why the F is there no crosshair?". They came from shooter games like csgo, cod, apex and others so they are very experienced and played those games on competetive level. But they had some real difficulties on Huntress.

And I can agree on that. Even I, after throwing over 20k hatchets I still have issues to be pinpoint on the center of the screen and it takes some games to warm up.

At least give her a crosshair with an addon. It's not beginner friendly.

I've stated this to before, the response was pretty much "you'll figure it out" I think that even if a blip of one showed as it reached full power would be better then nothing, considering the accuracy needed especially at range

The way I see it, if this is something you can solve with a little mark you make yourself, may as well just make it an actual thing in-game. Just have it be something you can toggle on/off in the Options.

I TRIED that approach, but I tried using a little piece of duct tape since I dont wanna use a marker on my expensive monitors... Eventually I just got the hang of NOT using tape, since lining up a piece of tape JUST right is kinda annoying.

I say just give her a training wheels addon. might sound stupid to not just add it by default but i believe one of the reasons she's able to be as powerful as she is is by not giving a dedicated indicator to where she will land her hits. Let me explain :

If we give her a dedicated indicator, lets say a crosshair or an arc which shows where it will land, people will use this to both suplement their own skill, to learn her, and to actively see where they can hit, expecially if its an arc showing exactly where it will land. this isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it artificially lowers the skill cap to a point where you'd effectively be able to see the hitboxes of objects due to it showing where it would land.

if its a simple crosshair that shows the angle of a fully charged hatchet? i don't mind that in the slightest. but anything more and you'd be actively buffing her in ways that would i feel restrict her from being buffed in other more neccessary ways. ie if you make her easier to play, she will need less buffs in areas that count like her chase potential without hatchets.

Add a 1% speed boost for every hatchet she's missing up until 5 hatchets. a crosshair would be nice too, but if its an arc or anything more, tie it to a new brown addon. also iridecent head should automatically remove any crosshair.

TLDR: tie it to an addon, or make it a very limited crosshair. also buff her in ways she needs to be buffed.

Give an already great killer a buff?

    No thanks.

Pretty sure they'll say it'll break immersion or break the game which is stupid.

A crosshair won't make her more powerful or break immersion ESPECIALLY if we could turn it off in the Options menu.

A crosshair is a totally fine thing to put into the game

A crosshair adds nothing except making things easier rather than be extremely difficult for NO REASON.

There is NO GOOD REASON NOT to put one into the game.

I hate huntress. One of my worst killers. That said...

Please do not give her a crosshair. It would obliterate any skill with her.

They should Replace "Pungent Phial" with a Crosshair granting add-on. For the longest time I always felt that this particular add-on was made during Huntresses development as a way for players to see hatchet auras in lockers, because they initially didn't intend to make that part of her base kit when she runs out of hatchets. When her final version came out with it integrated as part of her base kit though, instead of reworking it to do something else, they just lazily left it in despite it being utterly pointless on her... especially for a rare add-on. No Huntress player I know even uses this worthless thing, and they cringe every time they have to spend BP on it in order to get the stuff they actually want.

I also believe all add-on's that give players an idea of where their killers powers will land should be Common (Brown) add-on's to help new players learn the killer. The biggest issue with Huntresses aim is that the point of the crosshair is actually lower on the y axis than where it would intersect with x in the center of the screen. Players have to tilt their head up a little in order to aim properly, and many new players have a hard time wrapping their head around this. Having a common crosshair add-on to illustrate this would be great for new players, and players who haven't played her in a while and need a quick warm up to refresh their memory.

Seriously, of all her add-on's, "Pungent Phial" is just the worst and either needs to be changed to something worthy of being a Rare add-on, or replaced entirely.

If nurse can get an addon showing exactly where she'll blink to... I doubt a crosshair in the middle of the screen will be restricting anyone

Yeah i think its a brown addon (it had a horse picture i think) it shows the radius of your shock

Buy gaming monitor turn on crosshair...

You can also install software which will do the same but it in not clear how will EAC reacts...

people claiming: crosshair = buff are completely clueless...

How is it a buff when the best Huntress players don't need that? Also, many monitor have the ability to display a crosshair, are they all cheating now?

  • White_Owl

I'm ok with this suggestion, but know that there's the possibility to use overlay crosshairs, and if I remember right devs are ok with that (and since they don't interfere with the game, EAC shouldn't flag them).

When I first started with the Huntress I used Custom Desktop Logo, but there are many apps for that.

Not really, some players like me get confused with where and what I have to aim at to get the perfect hit. More of a QoL change if anything.

I play on the PS4. Even if I wanted to, I would get my ass kicked if I placed anything on the TV screen. Even "just practice, you'll get used to it" isn't true, because I'm not always sitting in the same spot. Looking at the screen from a different angle throws everything off, changing where it feels like center should be located.

I absolutely hate playing Huntress. An option that can be toggled that helps with aiming, or even an add-on that provides help with aiming, would be most appreciated.

I don't see why not, with an addon. I would never use it, but huntress has a bit of a learning curve, so making her more approachable to a new player seems okay.

The "Horse" chess piece lets you see his shock outline.

By Default - no. As an Add-On - yes. Should be a brown Add-On, can easily replace Beerus Toxin (we dont need Add-Ons which can negate powerful Perks for just 3k BPs...)

btw. Nurses Training Add-On should also be much lower in rarity.

The best Huntresses ARE using a crosshair. Scottjund has openly admitted to it and Umbra definitely does, you can see it in how she plays.

  • snozer
    snozer Member Posts: 776

Plenty of cheap monitors have a crosshair you can turn off and on now. many huntress mains use it in streams and it doesn't show lol.

Umbra jokes about it all the time, but Im pretty sure shes just THAT good.

I'm not saying she isn't good, she definitely has all the timings, tile layouts, and what she can throw over down to a T. However, watching her make minute corrections to thread between three different openings at long range is a bit suspect.

Id say thats probably just the result to thousands of hours of using Huntress. She plays Huntress like 95% of the time, and typically avoids relying on addons that would make hitting shots any easier.

Just get a foil, figure out the center of the screen via diagonal lines, use a pen to draw a cross hair = Profit

I have been playing huntress for a while and it is hard to know where to aim on console. A cross hairs would be appreciated.

I need a cross hair on nurse more than huntress anyway...

    Nurse crosshair confirmed!

It makes no sense that Plaid Flannel is such a rare add-on. Experienced Nurse players don't need it, inexperienced players do, but they're not going to have it on her because it's so rare... Very backwards. By the time you've gotten a few in your Bloodweb you don't need them, anymore.

(This isn't really directed at you, I just wanted to complain about Plaid Flannel for a moment.)

And again, to all the people talking about crosshairs you can use on your monitor... that doesn't help console players. We can't install a nifty little crosshair, and I doubt most of us want to draw on our televisions. It's harder to aim on console than on PC, and it's also harder to get a crosshair on console than on PC. So we're just getting screwed both ways.

Regular first person shooter gamers rely on a crosshair on their games but a game that hardly has any shooting isn't allowed one? That doesn't seem very reasonable.

Let's face it, Huntress is not much of a threat unless in the hands of a regular Huntress player. Many of us only play Huntress for dailies and I'm sure many more of us skip Huntress dailies completely.

I would happily grab every single brown addon that gave me a cross-hair and allow more competent Huntresses to play without and pick something else instead. Everyone wine.

You can use a monitor with a console and the crosshair is programmed into the monitor and does not need a pc to use it. even cheap ones have it now $80-150

"We're a little bit booked up with the Nurse add-on changes at the moment."

Sorry for being rude, but ... tired of working in a single killer? No wonder the game is not advancing enough, since you are taking turtle steps, if you get tired of everything, you cannot work on more things simultaneously, I have faith that from 3-5 years the game will remain the same. I hope you changed my mindset.

just no,giving a crosshair even for beginners, gonna get them into trouble when going to higher ranks without the crosshair, also, giving huntress a permanent crosshair just ruins her whole skill cap to play her, which is not a good deal.

You guys are curiously defensive about adding benign quality of life changes to this game. Like, what would be the impact of just adding a crosshair -- literally just a little + in the center of the screen for a single killer -- with no strings attached?

I already use Nvidia's GeForce Experience overlay (which officially supports Dead by Daylight) to jury rig a crosshair, and it's not like this turns someone into an instant Huntress master, not remotely. But it helps you learn how to aim hatches and how the hitboxes work.

A piece of that ######### cheap tape that doesn't really stick well to anything anyway, and a dot of permo work well.

Unobtrusive and not sticky enough to leave ######### on your screen.

Most people draw crosshair or dot on displayer anyway so yeah...

I use a cross hair on pc because it's just a no brainer. console players can't do that, and they deserve an update to give them a cross hair option in the settings menu.

Not really. By the time you get the first one, you should be proficient with the blinks where you don't need it.

  • LordGlint
    LordGlint Member Posts: 8,713

If it was a brown add-on, you'd have ppl hitting pin point accurate blinks on their first time with nurse. Having a crosshair on your screen just offer a minor aid, while you still have to know travel speed of the hatchet, curve and have the wisdom of knowing when it's appropriate to even take out the hatchet.

  • Raven014
    Raven014 Member Posts: 4,188

But they'd spend their time trying to get used to the charge rate. And new nurses don't know to blink down if survivors rush you. It's far from broken.

  • LordGlint
    LordGlint Member Posts: 8,713

It puts a marker on the ground that's adjusted by how much you charge it and where your aiming. Someone using it has complete control over every blink.
