A new take on the in-game UI (with pictures)

With this UI, I wanted to give the game a fresh coat of paint while adjusting some things that bothered me.

By displaying the portraits of the characters that each player is playing, it provides both the killer and survivor an easy way to check who's who without having to open the pause menu. You'll still see whether or not they're injured/hooked/downed through an indicator on the top-right of their portrait.

I also consolidated the locations of your items/killer power and perks. This means you have to look at only one part of the screen to get critical info.

imo the current ui does the job as well as we need. Having pretty much all of the UI on the left side of the screen is distracting, especially with the size.

Perhaps in order for the current UI to tell you what survivor they're playing as, it gives a specific coloured outline to the status in the bottom left. So Bill would be Green, Adam would be White, Feng would be blue (This wouldn't change based on outfit)

it's not good to have too much information in this game which is already having too much going on as we speak with all these indicators on the right screen popping up. it should be minimalistic and a sense of not knowing who or what is going on is part of the experience

No. Having all the information on one side makes this side too full. What is the point to have your repair progress at the side, when your character is in the center? Why do you need to know which character you play yourself? You have eyes.

I like the character portraits for Survivors when playing Killer though.

I like some of these ideas, while I'm not a fan of others...

I really like what you did with Status Icons and Power/Items and their Add-Ons.

But like others have said, moving everything to one aide of the screen is not it. I also personally would leave Perks and progress bars where they are, but I definitely think a spin on your idea would be really cool.

The choices of where to move UI icons are really bad ones. UI design is as much an art as it is a science but I can tell you the current way Perks are displayed is FAR more friendly for people to register quickly and subconsciously the relevant information there and much easier on the eyes.

I also dislike how information like health states are minimised and the increased presence of diverse colours/faces which is very distracting. The current designs for the health state UI is actually pretty smart in how it avoids drawing your attention, but here you have several human faces staring directly at you for the entire duration of the match and our ape brains are all screaming "Hey, Claudette's looking at you, she probably wants something!".

Please don't see this as an attack, I really like the effort you clearly put into making these screenshots and it IS good UI work visually, it just has flaws design-wise especially when compared to the professional-designed UI the game already uses IMO.

The one major takeaway is that yes, we should be able to know who's playing who without needing to check a menu. The way I would solve this is just have the Survivor's monikers in greyed out letters below the player's name, so you have "DWIGHT" "CLAUDETTE" "MEG" "D. TAPP" and so on below everyone's health state display.
