Ghostface QoL suggestions from a top Ghostface main
My name is Bubba Tea and I am a devotion 15 ghostface main, and have been for months. I currently have the highest number of marked downs on the DBD leaderboards, and I wrote an extensive ghostface guide on steam. Suffice to say, I'd like to think I have plenty of experience with the killer. I would like to suggest a few small changes to his ability that makes him more fun and interesting to play, and less clunky.
- Please buff his base recovery time. 30 seconds is too long of a recovery time for a single hit, and in my opinion should be buffed to 25 seconds at base. In exchange, change the pen to something else so the recovery time isn't TOO short. With max recovery addons, ghost's recovery time drops to only 15 seconds; a massive difference which i think addons shouldn't allow.
- Refill an additional part of the recovery meter when getting a marked stab (maybe, 25% of the total or something). This rewards the ghostface for stalking, which is what many players neglect to do these days, so I think it'll encourage playing him the way it was intended. Besides, it makes sense because ghostface has more poise when doing a marked stab as opposed to getting broken out of stealth, so stealth would come back more quickly. The minimum recovery time will now be around 14 seconds, which is close to using his current strong recovery addons. (10 seconds for both brown and yellow recovery, and about 6 seconds additional recovery for marked stabs).
- Suggestions for a reworked chewed pen:
a. Marked stabs cause the mangled effect (since many people use sloppy butcher on ghostface anyway)
b. Maybe a mixture of recovery speed and another factor, like stalk speed when not leaning, or something. The recovery time saved won't exceed the address book. This will make it similar to the Carburetor Tuning Guide on Billy, which is a mix of many effects.
You might notice that these were almost suggested word for word by the streamer Otzdarva, another avid ghostface player, in his change suggestions video. We're not trying to make him OP or anything, we just want him to be more fun and rewarding to play.
So I hope you take these changes into consideration; it'll make ghostie a lot more fun to play without the need for a recovery addon every match, and it encourages stalking (the way he was meant to be played), and it'll make him less clunky. After instadowning someone and hooking them, recovery times without strong addons feels way too long. Thanks for your consideration.

Honestly, i love your suggestions. If the developers would give him a base CD of 20-25 seconds and nerf the cooldown addons that would be really good for him imo. The pen idea is not that necessary, but would still be cool.
Additionally they should reward you with 25%-33% of your CD if you're getting a marked down, like you already wrote.
Together with those changes BHVR needs to optimize his reveal mechanic to prevent BS reveals and BS exposing.
All those changes together would polish GFs power and encourage his original playstyle. (gotta hate hit&run on GF, don't judje me pls)

How could I forget to mention the bugs...yea they really should be fixed xD
I dont really like hit n run gf either, stalking is way more fun

I lately got in a really laggy match with my miss denson and could basically reveal GF behind everything. He said in post game chat that he couldnt stalk me at all.

I see where you're coming from. However, I think ghostface is strong and he's not a very interactive killer as is. You say balance, but this is pretty much an overall buff except for the add-ons. He's not in need of a buff or a nerf. He's need of a fix to his buggy mechanics, that's the part where I agree.

Its pretty much the same cuz the minimum recovery time wont be decreased, itll just be more accessible. That's the thing, I want to make him a bit more interactive

I mean ghostface is one of the most balanced killers if not the most balanced killer in the game and while and your suggestions are more of a buff than balance i really wouldnt do that since i have a feeling survivor mains who already conplain about ghostface being op would complain even more and that might reault in him getting a major debuff or multiple debuffa like legion besides like i said earlier hes one of the most balanced killers in the game so he doesnt really need a buff at the moment

theres a difference being balanced and feeling clunky to play, which is my main issue with him atm. He is pretty balanced, but there's huge gaps where you cant use your power, even when not getting broken out, because you have such a long cooldown. Plus, adding bonus recovery will encourage people to stalk, and many survs hate no-stalk ghosties anyway

I think his major problem is that it feels like he gets punished for trying to stalk and a ghostface who doesn't stalk "feels" just as good as one that does. I think that is what we call... a dried skill-cap. I think long cooldown is justified but I think punishment for failing should be lessened. I would just make it that hitting a survivor with basic m1 does not reset stalk meter. In that way, survivors can break out ghostface to prevent him from getting an instant down the first time but not really completely make stalking irrelevant. perhaps change security pink add-on to that. Right now, I feel like only time I stalk is when I know i can get down or when there are multiple people on single generator, so I can knock off mutiple health states in future.
Another idea could be that if ghostface hits a marked target, his power refreshes, that could also be replacement to his useless security camera pink add-on. I do play some ghostface but whenever I play him, I don't feel like I'm playing unique killer. It just feels like I'm playing a normal 115% m1 killer with no power against good players, but that might just be me.

Sounds like that's just not knowing how to stalk though.
I stalk alot as ghostie and get lots of downs like that.
And besides, I'm suggesting that if you do stalk, your power will reset more quickly and you can m1 to your leisure, which automatically sets you above those who dont stalk at all.
