Nightmare balance suggestion
right now nightmare hard/impossible to play since players just follow u when u carry a survivor towards a hook and then unhook him without worry that i would stop him from unhooking like with other killers where u can stop any survivors to unhook with just a hit or grab.
So to fix this make nightmare VISIBLE and can attack normally for 15-20 secs around the hook like 10m-15m around it OR when but less balanced make everyone around hooked target asleep instantly at the moment of hooking like 20m radius this way killer can attack them to stop from unhooking
till now never died to Freddy ... every time i unhook a survivor while doing this he never could catch me takes a while to put me to sleep
my suggestion would be like in the movie FREDDY can come into real world if causes enough fear so hooking should be that a temporary real world appearance

This is a rather fascinating idea. Perhaps allow Freddy to injure awake survivors, but cannot put them in the dying state unless they are asleep.

Not a good idea.
If they follow me to the hook and insta unhook, fine. I can put 2 people asleep immediately and resume chasing the unhooked victim.
Basically this survivor strategy is hurting them more than me. It's almost farming that poor hooked guy.0 -
PS: Don't get me wrong, Freddy is in desperate need of some buffs, but not like that.

hey nightmare gets power from fear and pain so hooking a survivor should give him a small boost in power meaning can hurt people in real world while they are awake for like 10-15 sec or a 5-10m perm around hook should be enough so making players harder to unhook like other killers do.
hook camping any killer can do it just nightmare cant since cant stop or hurt anyone attempting to help/repair if they arent sleeping already
would love to hear from a dev what he thinks about this idea.

or make while u carry a survivor ability to pull them in dream world instead of attacking when its useless 1 in dream world that u carry and rest are impossible to hit but if u could pull them in dream world would make them much harder to hook camp u

Instead of an active ability, why not link the dream transition to his TR. 7 seconds of Freddy lullaby and you're asleep, he can't see your aura if you're in his terror radius so you still have stealth on your side until he wonders off. Add ons for the reach of his dream demon power can now relate to the radius size of his lullaby and most everything else can stay the same. Will solve people doing totems gens and healing in front of you and yolo saves.0

Freddy is for sure the worst in the game, but trying to play him well DOES make a difference, i've been playing Freddy for 2 days on the Rank 1 and only lost 1 match (Was in the Hospital). You need a decent perk build and using addons is almost MANDATORY if u wanna stand a chance on most cases.
If your only problem are survivors trying to unhook instantly, u have 2 options, either drop the survivor and put everyone nearby to sleep or just hook the survivor and tunnel him for a free hit 7 sec after getting out of the hook. Also remember to always try to put someone to sleep intead of going for a chase or hit (this is Freddy's Basics if u didnt know already).
Been doing well with: Ruin, Shadowborn, Remember Me and Make Your Choice. You can create your own build, i changed mine many times already, but this one seems to be very effective on most of my matches.

Find the biggest problem with Freddy is the transition time from being awake to sleep. Normally I use the blocks to medicate that problem.0

There are some so terribly obvious issues with him that are exploitable.
1. Freddy needs to be able to pick up victims while they get healed.
2. Awake survivor should be excluded from hit detection (no more bodyshielding from awake survivor)
3. His dreampower should be an interrupt, so that survivor lose their progress on cleansing or unhooking when hit.0 -
My view is:
Freddy (from the movies) can adapt his powers to anything he wants once his "victims" are in Dreamworld. They should find a way to creatively implement some new abilities for Freddy in game (whether it be add on / new perks) - ideas could be; mimicking other survivors, teleportation, creating blocks to loops / exits, projectile gloves (I'm trying to think what the game could realistically introduce).
He has so much more scope rather than just being a "slasher" killer - which is what he is currently once the survivors are in Dreamworld.

Wolf you're absolutely right there is so many problems with Freddy. But they're not going to fix the problems. Just going to do patchwork. That's it basically with all killers.1

I want dbd freddy to learn the art of messing with people from his movies and the doctor. Why not turn the dream realm into nightmare realm. Leave hazzards in that world and leave the normal world without it. That way can pull in survivor let the nightmare keep them busy while you go and try to bring more survivors into realm.But i do see alot of merit in bringing self into real world like the 2nd movie. Where he hoped on through someones body. Maybe he is like doctor that as long as he is driving them insane he can eventually go inside body of survivor. So can jump out at someone as hooked survivor trap. Have hard skill checks on a gen size progress bar to escape freddys grasp once he is controling you.0
