Abuse, Racism and Homophobia? Hello BHVR?
At the end of it, they always will say... "SO WHAT, DO YOU NOT KNOW HOW THIS GAME WORKS? THE DEVS DO NOTHING" ----- and i'm.... sort of... starting to believe them. No punishments are given out, even for people telling others to "Kill themselves". It's just getting to a point that's sickening.
They continue on their merry-way of abusing others, with not even the slightest slap on the wrist? While that person could be traumatised or even taking action with their 'recommendations'?
I'm basically asking, and sort of criticising if punishments are actually handed out, or taken seriously? From my perspective, and I've now got over 1.4k hours, these players have been doing it this whole time - every match, the same outcome.
Why is it, that the DBD community has no faith in bans / silences / any form of punishment for abusing others in this game?
I'm not saying this a killer / survivor argument, these people do it to EVERYONE.
It's sad to say that I've had to make a list of people who if I get in a survivor lobby, I will leave and search again. Unfortunately, I have zero control of my experience with who the killer is, since, I have no information in that part, but, THEY do.
TLDR: Does BHVR care about racism, abuse, and homophobia?

BHVR doesn't care about reports in general. It's only in the game to make people "feel" like they're doing something about it. Hence why they blatantly tell you they will ignore reports if they find it not a "reportable" offense of some sort... meaning, they already don't take reports seriously.

Them putting their head under the covers, makes them as equally a culprit for supporting abuse then.
Interesting view-point, thanks Arckd, I had hoped that wasn't true, but, the general consensus, is it is. So BHVR is basically happy being a platform of spreading negativity, as long as, they make a buck from it.
3 -
As long as that negativity doesn't affect their bottom dollar, yep. They take a hands-off approach instead of other devs' active anti-hateful behavior/speech policies.

Haha, honestly, I have pretty thick skin - I'm simply pointing out a flaw, that BHVR refuses to address, or even remotely take ownership of. 1.4k of DBD, YOU NEED, thick-skin. I'm pointing out a problem that SHOULD be addressed, but isn't being.
There's a new In-game block feature which has helped immensely, however, I now need to experience those players again, in order to block them. My main problem with taking away chat is that, I can and do come across some really fun people! I want to be able to talk and have a laugh - I'm playing a game for that reason - not for some to call me a slur because they died.
1 -
If you are on PS4 and it’s being done through friend request or direct message report it to Sony via the repot function. Sony doesn’t mess around with those things.
2 -
Ignore those who offend you, close the end-game chat and grow a thicker skin. Simple as that. No point in reporting those who won't be banned anyway.

I'm always surprised how fragile people are. I don't condone saying stuff like that, but it's just words in a game chat, why do you let it work you up so much? Just close the end game screen and move on.

I'm sorry but all you guys telling someone to "grow a thicker skin" is not being helpful. That doesn't make people fragile and it's not "just words". While others might not give 2 damns, several people might not feel the same way and just because you can look past it, not everyone can. The OP is criticising BHVR and I feel like we shouldn't tolerate ######### people just because they can get away with it. This is legit the kind of behaviour that lets them get away with it.

I had a guy call me a "#########" on xbox and I reported him toicrosoft support for offensive hate speech and they banned his comms for 2 weeks. Guess the guy doesn't know when to quit since he got 2 weeks out the gate.
1 -
I see what your saying, but at the same time - not everyone has the ability to push aside or move on from hate-speech, nor is everyone on the receiving end, fragile. I'm fully aware that their words have little lasting impact on ME, however, I'm also aware that there are other people in the world who may not be able to move on from; "#########, you're useless" or of-the-like comments.
Fragility of others has nothing to do with people intentionally spreading hate, and thinking that's okay. The real issue is that they think that it is OK to do so - BHVR may as well be giving them a big thumbs up in the current climate of the game.
There's duty of care to people, customers and players. BHVR is NOT doing that, that's the real issue that I'm trying to get across, I hope you can see that.

I'm glad they took action! That is what I'm saying though, I have come across these individuals numerous times, and in numerous circumstances, abuse - with zero repercussions.
For the most part, Steam, Xbox Support, Playstation support etc; WILL and DO take action in regards to, negative conduct on their platforms (Hate-Speech & Death Threats). The issue is that BHVR is almost it seems, is happy to do nothing. Happy for people to funnel hate in other peoples lives without concern for anyones wellbeing.

I mean I dont 100% disagree. But considering I have seen people getting banned from the game I'd say you are at least overreacting a bit.
Got the steam profile of the guy, reported him for cheating, and kept a watch on his steam profile. "Banned from 1 game" after about a week or so. And that was for cheating which is a bit harder to prove than saying nasty things.
But I would say if you got that if OP got that much toxic ######### thrown at him 5 times during only a single day I would argue he probably did something to anger players. Does that make it ok? No ofcourse not, but while I get some toxic ######### every now and then I dont get anything near that level unless I play nothing but this game for a month. So either he was impressively unlucky or he is doing something to encourage this sort of stupid behaviour.

I had a similar situation.
On console it's pretty easy to stop this, but I've never played on pc.
Anyway, this is to the OP:
Reports need to be fixed, but in a worst case scenario where they don't, disable post game chat if possible. Maybe ignore/close it?
I know that doesn't really help, but it's the only solution if reports don't get fixed.

My view (my opinion only) is that ALL pregame and post game chat should be eliminated. If Players want to talk to each other let them work out their own means of communication. I say that the identities and all that jazz should be unknown until the end of the game when we see the scoreboard. I've never seen anything positive come from the brief chatter, so why keep it? Teams (friends who play together and want to talk together) have ways to arrange their communications on their own. Let's keep the game about the game, and leave all the trolling, baiting, racism, sexism, what have you.... behind. The odd GG doesn't add anything positive either, it is the barest acknowledgement possible, lip service to good sportsmanship. Cut all of it and wipe that page clean. To be honest, I don't even see a point in this Forum beyond the "Reporting Areas" for bugs. All the general discussion and opinions are negative, foster bad feelings, and are detrimental. If someone wants to spend 24/7 badmouthing the game, other players, the DEV.... why not let THEM pay for it and put up their own Forum. I'm just saying, keep this place for the important things and get rid of all the idiotic voices quacking in the dark (my own included). Everyone will be happier in the long run.

"TLDR: Does BHVR care about racism, abuse, and homophobia?" no because of $.

@GG_Meizi I hear you. It really only seems like they ban people off the forums if they attempt to unionize against them or from in game if they are blatantly cheating. Beyond that it's a situation where they expect us to turn the other cheek and just play the game some more. It's almost as if telling us to play the game and enjoy it will fix all of its problems itself.

this is why i try to stand up for LGBTQ+ rep within DBD, BHVR have said numerous times they support us but don't have the balls to actually see that through, which is sad because i've had some genuinely memey wholesome interactions with people and made some good friends here and i don't want to have to close chat or advocate for its removal or just assume everyone's gonna be an ######### before i even know them. why should i have to compromise, not the bigots, racists, ignorant, hateful people who say whatever they want and get away with it?
obviously rep doesn't solve these problems completely, we have claud, adam, tapp, hag, doc, and there's still racism, for example. we have multitudes of women characters and there's still sexism. but if you take a stand, if you don't PERMIT it, if you pick goodness over the bottom line, that comes back to you tenfold. i wish they'd see that, because when they do nothing, what they're really doing is encouraging the misbehavior to fester and grow and that's why this community literally scares people off from sticking around. the thing about all those 'sensitive' people who can't handle criticism everyone likes to bring up? they're not here anymore, they decided they didn't wanna have to endure the vitriol and they quit. that'll continue until they decide to take reports seriously, and punish seriously.
if i didn't love DBD so much, i would've left a long time ago too.

BHVR either does stuff that is TOO DRASTIC or NOT at all. I have picked up my own TOXIC habits just from this game alone. If the game company is sincere about things. They will remove lobby chat in pre and post game.
The funny thing is, the game does NOT have a report feature in the PRE-match LOBBY. I can say however that post-game chat is one of those things where players CAN hide the chat box if they want. So if it is open, it should be an "at your own risk" kind of thing. Since during the match players are "gagged" and cannot talk during the match unless they have a discord.

We do care about these things, that's why we have the report feature and if reports are made correctly yes these people are dealt with. It might be a temporary ban rather than a permanent ban and this is something that you won't see on their profiles etc.
I also edited your post because we do have rules here on this forum with regards to bypassing the profanity filter, there really was no need to put those words onto the forum.

If BHVR can profit off of Pride month and saying BLM then they should stand by that and follow through in condemning hate in all its forms and ACTUALLY moderating the game chat.
2 -
iirc there is an option to turn off chatin the settings, though I may be wrong.

I always find it strange when people say this.
"Grow thicker skin."
It's like being beaten down every day by racial/homophobic/sexist slurs and just being told to ignore it, it doesn't matter. Like imagine you were called something your entire life. Something you aren't. You're called this every day, to the point where others start to believe it, to the point where you're made fun of for it, to the point where you're beaten up for it. To the point where you're killed for it.
I don't think it matters how thick your skin is, you could have dragon hide, but that won't matter to the parasite that these words are and mean. It's a silent killer and no one seems to care about it.

Heres the weird thing. There are a lot of circumstances in life where, yeah, you doo need to toughen up. This is not one of them and honestly its really disgusting that people act this way. Even more so that reporting has a minimal effect, i get that people have to review it. Im fine with that, however maybe it is time for the devs to ACTUALLY make a statement about it. Or really crackdown on it
1 -
If only you could punch them in the face like you could if they acted up in real life. Alas.
