Thoughts on this Spirit change idea?

What if you could blind the husk and stop her phase wherever she was at? It would require risky teamwork, but I think would be an interesting change that adds to the 'is she faking' mindgame.

Oooh, no. Sorry, this is just very situational and ridiculous tbh. No offense, good idea but it just seems rlly bad. We don't need more killers getting their power destroyed by an item.

EDIT: Sorry, rushed response, although I do think Spirit is annoying to play against rn, this is not the counter she needs. It's kinda like the whole victor thing again, letting survivors cancel a killers power entirely and it just seems... unfair and making the killer unnecessarily powerless.

@PassarinoT How many people say she doesn't have much counterplay other than Iron Will? This could change that...and like you said, it's very situational and highly risky on the Survivor's part so it's not like this would absolutely destroy her. The longest you could have charges on a flashlight is 30 seconds tops (with Streetwise and Built to last) which adds a cap on countering her and you would need to dedicate a build to this. Also, which Killers are completely countered by an Item? You can see Trapper's and Hag's traps with a map, burn Hag's traps and then Wraith and Nurse (VERY hard to do) can be lightburned...but that's it, you make it sound like all Killers are bullied by items when that's definitely untrue.

I'm saying what you are suggesting is not the end-all fix to her, you can't put a small bandaid on a killer that is only offered at certain times and expect it to be "balanced", that's just poor game design

Not to mention Spirit's husk cannot move once she fully enters phase walk, she has no control over that and that just puts her power in the survivor's hands.

@PassarinoT I wasn't implying that this would be the 'end all' band-aid fix, just a small QoL change

Remember the bug that she had what was it? Last patch? That was perfect and I wish that would've stayed.

This is only useful for a hyper coordinated SWF, who really should be able to beat Spirit without too much difficulty regardless.

A "quality of life" change would be like changing the color of skill checks so they're easier to see. It'd be changing the Archives so that you can have separate challenges for survivor and killer selected at the same time. What you are suggesting is a balance change, not a QoL change. And it's not small, neither in effect nor in the amount of work it would take to implement.

Anyway, Spirit has no control over her husk, she'd have no defense against this, no counter to it. It would frustrate the crap out of killer players.

Also, survivors can use flashlights in a similar way right now. I've seen plenty who will attempt to blind the Spirit to see if she's faking. If she gets blinded, she's faking. If she doesn't get blinded, it's her husk. Of course, this doesn't account for bad aim or Lightborn, but in the majority of cases it works. It doesn't take her out of her power (which again, would be super frustrating and have no counter), but it's useful for the "'is she faking' mindgame" part you mentioned.

Sounds like your throwing her in the dumpster think of a different idea

Nah. I'd like her to be more enjoyable to play against and have more back and forth, but giving the survivor full control of her power is a bad, bad choice.

Pass man that would be so annoying...

    Require risky teamwork? Lol

No. She would just get blinded at every pallet, and window.

And if there were coordination, pretty much every pickup, too.

Making Spirit weak to flashlights like Wraith would subject her to the same bullying Wraith can get from toxic SWFs. (In Spirit's current form she's a superior Wraith). The majority of Wraith matches flashlights never make such an impact, but there are always the few, the toxic.

The bug where survivors could hear Spirit's breathing while phasing made for a more interesting engagement. It made a nice cat and mouse game where you couldn't see each other and could only hear the other. Spirit was still a strong killer because she is super fast while using Yamaoka's Haunting and is one of the few killers with a longer than average lunge.

I'd be more open to a nerf where Spirit has better audio queues that she is about to come out of phase within 5 meters of you. Or it's more clear that she's still haunting you. Wraith literally has to ring a bell before he can attack survivors, even when the bell is silent. So, I'm also open to any middle ground between patch 4.4.1 Wraith and Spirit.
