The Continued Ignorance of Performance Issues Continues to Hamper Player Fun

Thanks, from a console player. The issue I've experienced is mainly when players are too close. A survivor dead harding through me always causes frame drops, and likewise so do some attacks like the Demo lunge. It's a bit likethere's too much hqppening on screen.
Optimization should be a big issue for BHVR, because if they're going to bring in a hoard of new players with RE, and all the new guys experience it, the influx they experience may be far less than estimated - especially if they're looking for long-term players. This needs to be their priority over all else currently. People aren't going to worry about Spirit, when optimization means they could just as easily fall to the hands of Trapper!

I don't experience these problems at all on Dbd Mobile. That alone should say something.
The fact that console players are being ignored like this is unacceptable.
13 -
the optimization in this game is jokeโฆ
I play Overwatch on my Ps4 and the game NEVER lags.
dosnโt matter how many effect are on the screen.
the worst that can happen is that you lose 10 FPS when everybody uses their ultimate at the same time.
dbd dosnโt even need a reason to froze.
and it always happens in the worst moments..,

Holy crap, how long is this thread gonna go on for
8 -
Hopefully until the devs either stick to their word and put effort into optimising the game reasonably well or admit that they are unable/unwilling to do so.
17 -
I would just like switch input delay to not be like nearly half a second when playing, but maybe that's more hardware level.

its so bad. yesterday my game kept stuttering a LOT as survivor, which usually resulted in me getting hit or having to waste a pallet since i got stuck on a wall from the stutter
at this point i just think that this game on consoles/lower end pcs is beyond repair, knowing how badly this game is coded

It's really weird how the video game industry is treated now. In the eighties and nineties, if a company put out a piss poor product such as they have with Dead by Daylight, and it played the way this game does, which wasn't always the case btw, at least for me, customers would be physcally beating their doors and retail doors down if we didn't get a refund. These game developers would go under far faster than they do now. Customers knew if you want to make millions of our currency, it's time to deliver! It's like customers don't understand their power anymore. Stop buying anything from their store and it will show them that they need to get off their asses and fix their game.

Mobile is more optimized because they rebuilt the entire code. They had to delay the release of mobile by 6 months to do so.
Even then at launch mobile was missing a lot of content that was already on main DBD. Since then they have added a lot of what was missing .
I get the feeling BHVR is afraid of doing the same with the mainline gameโs code because theyโre not sure the player base would stick around after months of no content while they rebuild the code.
So instead they have opted to redo code when they can while still adding new content. This slows down the process by a lot.

For as long ax it needs to
8 -
I'll add to it...
When I can, I play on my Series X. No problem whatsoever.
I've just tried to play on my Xbox One for the first time in months and - holy #########! - it's unplayable. I just had a survivor vault a window right into me - should've been an easy hit. But the game freezes and I end up looking in completely the wrong direction.
I also chased an Ace through a pallet. I respected it, but he carried on running. So I chase. Bearing in mind, he's several meters ahead of me, as soon as I pass through the pallet, it crashes down on me, and Ace has teleported backwards to to me! FFS!
Absolute trash. I just won't ever play on my Xbox One now. It's impossible.

thanks to DbD Mobile team that's really doing pretty god job so far

I heard that there was a planned Iridescent Nemesis addon planned that added an extra zombie, but that it had to be scrapped because of technical limitations.
This makes me worry about how the console version will perform with zombies on the maps given the problems we already have.
Iโm really excited for this DLC so I hope Iโm not disappointed and it ends up making the game worse or even unplayable like the 2020 Halloween event.

I'm going to check the refund policy because if it's making our issues worse I feel asking for a refund should be valid but hopefully it's not the case as I am super excited to ๐ท๐
5 -
Supposedly, the PTB makes the game run better than it will on Live.
That means that the new map will run even WORSE on console.
7 -
From what I've heard Playstation is super stingy when it comes to refunds, the game has to be completely unplayable for them to refund you. I think their policy is pretty much you can get a refund if you haven't played the game (which to them is opened/loaded into it is considered having played it) within certain amount of time from purchase you can get refund but if you have "played" it you can't get a refund unless the game is completely broken.
I'm pretty BHVR doesn't give refunds if you bought it through the game store with auric cells, believe they are all sales are final.
Other consoles no idea their refund policies.
3 -
I've no idea what Xbox's refund policy is
3 -
Normally you have a week depending on the store also
But if you got it digitally you cant

Its much worse with some killers than others.
Blight is unplayable on my pc. Look at the gpu usage jumping all over the place. 50% to 99% to 70 ect. It happens 7 times in this short clip, and went like that the whole match. Click it and watch it in fullscreen to see how bad it is, doesnt look so bad in the forums smaller size clip.

@DarKStaR350z Lol if that's true that's pretty sad. Battlefield 2042 can have 128 players in a match (including filling empty spots with AI), but Dead By Daylight can't do 5 players and 3 AI? Yikes.
@gammatsunami Oof. Ya that constant skipping would give me a headache.
7 -
Tbf, on current gen, it's only 64 players.
Still tho, ig the Frostbite Engine is just superior lmao
5 -
Yikessss
4 -
The frostbite engine generally sucks to be fair, just play Battlefront 2 and count how long you can go without a major bug. But I agree whatever BHVR did to the Unreal engine they are using is just horrendous, the amount of spaghetti and legacy code this game is running on must be horrifying. These problems can likely be sourced to the condition of the game when it first released, DBD was never imagined to grow as big as it has they never planned for it, were rushed during development by starbreeze, and as new employees have come in and the need to push DLC, cosmetics, and now Battle-passes these technical issues just keep piling on
How many unreal engine upgrades have they gone through so far?

Imo the Switch is the absolute worst platform to play dbd on. Got it to play on campus, & honestly it somehow manages to play worse than it looks. I'm hitting 10fps as the Twins most games, mind you my Switch is only a year old. Worst of all everyone else is at an advantage, & if I turn crossplay off matches take too long to find.

RE patch: 3.2GB on steam, 19.02GB on PS4, 31GB on PS5. I'm so nervous to see how it runs on PS4. ๐ฌ

29 on Xbox One X
3 -
I don't know if it's a good or bad thing ps4 update is so much smaller than the other gens.
3 -
It's just taking a long ass time to update for me.
3 -
Update didn't take long for me. Download and copy just under 40 minutes total - copy taking long time like normal.
Just logged in. After cut seen it seemed to freeze for few seconds while loading before I could hit x to continue. While it was going through the whole listing different things it's loading seemed to keep randomly stopping. Then before going into main menu had noticeable freeze again, while frozen I wondered if it was going to need to be closed.
Going through tutorials now to see how they play.
3 -
The new chapter is running really badly for me and my friends on ps4
Almost every time nemesis pulls out his tentacle one of the freezes occurs.
Its almost unplayable
5 -
Yeah, played a bot match and it was B A D
7 -
Running horrible on my original ps4 and my swf teammates ps4 pro. I played the tutorials and didn't seem bad. Went to public match and it was horrible, so many freezes it was ridiculous. I'd say it's as bad as last fall when ps4 was unplayable.
6 -
Don't tell me it's as bad as the infamous-not-so-famous-PS4-Power-Point-Presentation-Patch ๐ฉ
6 -
I think it's worse. From hearing reports it crashes whenever you do anything.
8 -
Played 2 matches so far as survivor, both against Nemesis. First on new map it was terrible PowerPoint presentation. Second match on Game map, slightly better but still so bad it's basically unplayable.
6 -
Cool,BHVR always knows how to outdo themself in the worst way possible ๐
Labor of Love btw
12 -
Really?
4 -
That's what I'm getting from Twitter.
4 -
Imagine all the people coming into the game because of RE and being met with a barely functioning game if they happen not to be on a top end desktop. I wish someone with decent reach would warn them about what theyยดre getting themselves into.
14 -
Anyone got any clips to share/link me to?
6 -
No clips on my timeline, just people complaining about it crashing, but I've made a request for some clips if anyone has them.
9 -
Gotta love how hard BHVR is ignoring this thread.
14 -
Also these threads:

I literally just had a match where my ps4 crashed in the middle of a game this is so annoying
2 -
3rd match, on new map v Trapper. Still horrible freezes. Seemed worse while in a chase with him. Not sure if at end he DC'd or the game crashed for him.
3 -
My 2nd match today my game just crashed out of nowhere i was just running as survivor in RPD
3 -
Thank you! <3
5 -
First match of the new chapter and I had not one but two DCs as nemesis on the new map. I knew it wasn't a rage quit because This was a sweat swf I've gone up against in the past. I have recordings of the awful performance but, judging by the way the forums are right now, I don't think I need to show them. Before, console optimization was poor but I could play around it and actually have a decent time despite all the shortcomings.
With this chapter, freezes happen twice as frequent and I'm being punished for using his power. It was a strict m1 game after the horrid freezes.
6 -
Not to mention they're committing false advertisement by saying the game is 1 killer verses 4 survivors, and then they release the Twins, which are 2 killers! They've gotten too comfortable in the space without much competition and think they can just contradict everything that they ever promise without consequence.

I remember a while back when I was known under a different username. One that was briefly famous for making a list. You were so full of hope back then.
