The Continued Ignorance of Performance Issues Continues to Hamper Player Fun

Even with the ssd, which has fixed most of my issues, i still get a stutter when trying to use nemmys whip, though its not as bad as it was

Also if you don’t know which video it is it’s the most recent one.

Only 3 more months until next patch that claims to help and didnt do much
(Joke btw)
Holy I just looked at the pinned wholesome moment 17 to 75 pages
12 -
75 pages of a thread and still no reply from an official dev. Yeah, let that sink in.
They don't care about console, they made that clear to me.
Personally, i don't see that it will get much better with the next mid-chapter patch and/or the new killer patch. Sad, I truly love this game but I don't think I can put up with it anymore after the event ends.
Hopefully the new content from RDR2 is out by then, so I can give that a try and see how optimized that game is running on ps4 without risking my console to die from overheat.

I really need to make test on My Brother laptop with R5 4600H with GTX 1650 with 16 GB of ram
1 -
I think you might be able to play the game, but with low settings. My household PC is an i5 with the same graphics card and RAM, and higher than low I can't play on it before I see that the PC has trouble running the game.
But your brother has a laptop, don't know if that makes a great difference?

Game freezes for a bit every time you bring up your knives to throw as Ttickster. Makes a bad killer even worse.
7 -
So with nemmisis I've noticed that your game guaranteed freezes the first time you use your power
And anytime you press attack too early
Same thing with deathslinger
The og cast has minmual spikes mostly when a perk like dh lithe comes into play
Some killers stutter randomly ex. blight ph huntress trickster legion but its almost always when they use their power they stutter
I might go play spirit for some reason she has almost no freezing

So there's no update today. They are leaving the changes for the midchapter which drops by the end of the month. Wouldn't be this the time to put PTB into consoles? So we can actually have an idea of how the game will run?
Anyway, I said on a previous post my last tolerance day was the 15th of this month. As a mod confirmed we're not getting anything until then, I'm uninstalling DBD today. I'll probably keep lurking here on the forums to see if it gets any better. Good luck to you all.

I just discovered something incredibly stupid when getting bullied by a meg squad when playing Trickster, for some reason at least on console, vertical sensitivity and horizontal aren't the same, for some reason horizontal is incredibly higher and it's making aiming Knives incredibly hard.
I initially tought it was a framerate issue but after changing my sens multiple times i realised it wasn't...now i really want better sensitivity settings...
5 -
They said they would have improvements for The Mid-Chapter it better be phenomenal.
6 -
They said last update will improve performance and it got worse too.
You people should start waking up. It is over.
6 -
I really hope so :(
1 -
guess we’re waiting another 3-4 weeks with unbearable lag.
12 -
I hope so too but I doubt the dev can the problem that they ignored in the mid chapter and if they do it will take a miracle to do so.
1 -
Here are some more. ######### are we supposed to do?
4 -
Suffer, unfortunately.
6 -
BHVR has said they are investigating an issue with the HDD.
Maybe things will return to pre-RE patch levels of awful instead of what we have now or maybe they'll be worse idk. The issue is that the Mid-Chapter comes out AFTER THE ANNIVERSARY EVENT ENDS.
9 -
######### BHVR, you are going to make console players endure another month of stuttering with no guarantee that the performance issues will be fixed when the mid chapter patch drops, shame on you.
7 -
Thank you devs for the update!
This is the minimum we ask, just some communication, best of luck to you all with this.
2 -
Holy crap.
This post is STILL going on?!
i saw this like 4-5 months ago lol
6 -
It honestly genuinely baffles me that the developers haven't
1. Postponed the event, or extended it, because the fix won't be until after the event is over. The event is just a copy paste of last year's with low af effort anyways, but I digress.
2. Haven't just shut down the servers for a couple days to fully try and fix things without adding more traffic on the already broken optimization on console
3. Given literally ANY sort of extra compensation or reward to last gen console players for putting up with this stuff for nearly a month, and having to wait 3 more weeks on top of it.
They really just don't care about our experience as long as they make money, huh?
7 -
They can find all the time in the world to fix the cosmetic glitch...something people actually enjoy and engage more with the game because of... Yet here we are with NO fix for console performance. In the words of the great Winston...How embarrassing.
2 -
BHVR are rolling in the money, everyone knows they paid IGN to give DBD a 9/10 review.
4 -
The reason it appears so senseless is because those cosmetic bugs were fixed a month ago and spent weeks going through platform verification and update scheduling. We are generally always recieving updates a month behind due to the nature of how it works.
It does add insult to injury but there's not much anyone can do about it.

Man am I glad Bloody Disgusting is focusing on DBD releasing a Naughty Bear charm. Nothing like a quick article popping up to distract from current game issues.
5 -
Dodnt she also say it's in the 7th one day
0 -
PTB starts on the 7th. Lasts a week, patch usually comes out 3 weeks after PTB ends (except for the times it was longer and they didn't say anything because "no official dare was given").
4 -
I really hope we get to go back to holding BHVR accountable for the poor port quality and their empty promises soon and actually have somewhat playable clients again.
6 -
Yes, they need to be held accountable for their......bEhavior. 😅
10 -
Gottom
5 -
I'll be here all week. Don't forget to boop the snoot. 🐷👈️
4 -
I called this would happen sadly, now my assumption is its 'Road to 60fps' again and by the time mid chapter is out, lots of us will have quit or at least quieter; and the mid chapter will still not massively improve things if at all and we will be swept under the rug.
I actually think its disgusting that the game is still for sale on the format stores when they know full well it is completely unplayable and will be in this state for the next month or so at least.
It sucks I miss the event which would alleviate some of the ridiculous grind in this game, and I literally cannot finish my Rift challenges as the game runs too badly.
Its so depressing to be treated like this, an afterthought and unimportant; after supporting the game since console launch and spending a load of money. I feel like I've been taken advantage of.
7 -
Raccoon City still fares me badly. In performance of course not, because all the maps run well for me, the game in general runs well, but the flickering on that map and playing as Nemesis hurts me. Even now I don't know if I will be the only one to experience this but when I am connected to my home network, playing as a survivor returned that annoying flicker when I run or walk as a survivor. I have to connect to my cell phone network to play more normal. Without a doubt this fifth anniversary is a disappointment?

Boop! 👉🐷

So external sata to USB 3 cable turned up an hour ago, copied DBD over to 500g SSD I bad at home and it's fixed all my stuttering issues.
Haven't stuttered a single lunge, all killer powers just work, accidentally turning into a surprise survivor doesn't make them stutter through me before I can react. It's to the point where landing all these far reaching lunge attacks actually looks weird to me because I see the whole animation from start to finish with no jittering and it's just smooth.
None of these really is surprising tho as even BHVR have confirmed it's a HDD issue so don't run out to buy one as I'm sure it will be fixed soon.
Edit: just played blight on forest, did everything I could try to make the game stutter and failed, was bashing off things like a maniac, flick turn hits were smooth as anything and I even brought sloppy butcher to help lag the game. Not a single stutter all map, god knows what the survivors were thinking as I was slamming into everything trying to stress test. Also noticed people can no longer 360 into me for free, now they get smacked in the face.
@MandyTalk not sure if you want to pass along as feedback, I know it's not too suprosing but maybe it helps identify the issue.
4 -
They should have just made a DBD 2 that was next gen console and PC only. I would be fine playing an older version with worse graphics for a little while before I upgraded my console. At least then the game might actually work.
2 -
So I've just re-enabeled long recording on PS4, here's 5mins of stutterless plague gameplay using the external SSD. If anyone has a SSD knocking about at home I'd def spend the $6 on a convertor cable, again though don't buy an SSD just to address it.
Edit: just had a game on phead on swamp where all 3 dead hards used in the game did not cause any performance loss whatsoever, they just animated forwards, of course when I told PS4 to save clip it gave me the last 37seconds of the match and not 5mins...
Edit 2: well DBD is just a normal functioning game now, I think what I've learned is this HDD issue has always been the problem even before the stuttering, the game is just running perfectly all night no matter how much I try and mess it up, all killers powers work fine, no perks seem to disrupt it. Whether bhvr are able to resolve this issue remains to be seen, but we can definitely put the stupid "the graphics are too good(lol) for last gen to run" argument to rest.

My Xbox1x came with a SSD and struggles mightily to run this game. Doubtful another would make a difference performance wise

Pulsar said the same for his xbox, he even tried an external drive and had no joy so naturally my expectations were very low but I can't deny the results, I just played legion on the extra stuttery snow map and I'm bouncing between 4 survivors all 360'ing into me in my face as I'm applying sloppy butcher or using my power, nothing is giving me any performance loss I'm able to actually deal with those situations because nothing is even giving me fps drops, it's just... stable.
2 -
What kind of SSD and does your XBOX One X have USB 3.0 or 2.0 ?
1 -
They removed the "mid chapter" announcement for some reason.
0 -
Here's some highlights from a blight game I just had for testing, note I'm rusty as hell on blight coz performance stopped me wanting to play him, I've highlighted the bouncing and the lunge attacks just so you can see I'm not actually smoking crack when I say performance is flawless, tho smoking crack would explain the L I took in that game.

One of, if not the biggest event for the game and they screw it up immensely. Instead of constantly adding new content, they're gonna need to address the poor foundation the game is built upon, or else the game will end up failing eventually. It's like they're playing Jenga but with only one block on the bottom of the tower.
5 -
Man, i miss playing Blight without any freeze or lag 😢
But i'm glad it's working for you
1 -
As far as I know all Xbox1's use only 3.0 and it's a 1T memory internal hybrid SSD. I am not tech saavy in the least so I barely know what all that even means! ;)

I know man believe me I'm not trying to flex, I just find it highly interesting that if you remove the HDD bottleneck entirely, all your DBD problems go away, not just the stuttering, and I think that fact really needs to be explored by bhvr.
2 -
Just fyi having a hybrid SSD is better than having an old HDD but nowhere near as good as an actual pure SSD. Confusing I know...
1 -
I find it pretty weird that a SSD actually helps with performance.
BHVR things 🤷♂️

LOL and I hit the skill check too.
