The Continued Ignorance of Performance Issues Continues to Hamper Player Fun

Last patch broke some stuff again, getting lots of freezes when survs fast vault windows now, and overall stutter issues are back altho not when using powers this time, but it seems everything that create a noise bubble can and usually will freeze the game.

Yeah... too many freezes again on ps4 pro. Unhook, DH and I get a 2 second freeze. Straight back to being unfun to play.
And they won't do anything till next chapter. Perfect.
1 -
The unhook and when i’m near a gen that pops causes a freeze.

Sloppy butcher honestly needs to be disabled. It's 100% an exploit at this point. Until the devs (finally) figure out how to make the game run semi smooth on console, it shouldn't be used. It's been broken for years now but has gotten WAY worse since the RE trashpile was released. Fix it or get rid of it.
7 -
Remember when nemesis was complete freeze fest? I noticed a lot of people putting sloppy on him then. It was a powerpoint simulator lol.
4 -
Dead Hard and Sloppy should be disable until the devs know how to make these perks work for half of the playerbase.
6 -
Unfortunately that won’t happen.
4 -
Yeah lol and just think we were all having our "skill" calculated in the background by the mmr system during all that. It must think i'm the worst nemesis ever since i hit about 3/10 tentacle strikes lol. Guess I'm not skilled enough to aim during a 2 second freeze.

More than me as deathslinger

At this point, with a patch that isn't even major causing people to just pause when perks activate or someone gets unhooked, they should just cut their loses & down grad the graphics. I know there's graphic elitists who refuse to play a game if you can't see the pores on people's face, but at this point with rpd tanking frames I can't see a reason why high graphics are needed.

One thing what really grinds my gears sometimes on the forums, is that the dev team doesn't talk to us.
What I mean by that is, why can't they give us information about what they're doing to actually fix these issues, what do they have planned to try and fix it. I mean, maybe we can help as costumers with constructive advice (like when some of you pointed out that the HDD is one of the issues).
Let us help making the game better.
But all we get is a "we acknowleged the situation" and then there is just silence. And more silence. And more silence.
I mean, console is a good portion of your playerbase, TALK to us. We're almost at 94 pages on this thread and we only got a mod in here to say something (no personal attack). Show us console gamers some respect as a dev team, with at least a minimum response with what you got in mind to help our issues.
4 -
They used to talk to us a lot, but it's been a long time. They got a lot of #########, some of it deserved, most of it not. Most threads had some Dev interaction, maybe two years ago.
I miss those times.
5 -
Console is more than a good portion, banded together we actually outnumber PCrs. And yet it seems each patch over the last two years or so weren't even tested on console before release, when I know they must have. If they did thoroughly test Nemmy's patch for instance, and pushed it out anyways, that worries me more than anything.
As far as the lack of direct communication with us, particularly here in the forums, we all are partially to blame with the amount shyyttt we've given them over the years.
But still some occasional word on things like the fabled 60fps for all platforms from over two years back would be nice.
5 -
there seems to be issues now with movement on controllers at least on ps4
3 -
That's what is so ridiculous. They allow pc players to lower their graphical quality but force console players to run high. Many console games now have a graphics mode and a performance mode like Gears of War. Mind you, that game runs better than DBD regardless of which mode you're in but a lower quality graphics mode that focused on performance would be greatly appreciated by console players, i'd imagine.
5 -
I really feel like there's someone at BHVR who's just denying anyone from down grading consoles graphics. I'm assuming it's because the game would be less marketable if it looked like this
Ultimately, there will come a time where there are more xbox series x|s or ps5 players & any question for optimization will be answered by getting new hardware.
3 -
I'd upgrade tomorrow if I could get a Series X from a legit retailer and not a scum of the earth scalper. In the meantime, i'd gladly play with the old DBD graphics if it meant I had full control of my movements.
6 -
Thing is I worry whenever I do upgrade i’ll lose all my progress cause it’s been happening to some DBD players.
1 -
That could be controllers problem. Ds4 is known for drifting issues. I changed like 3 controllers so far, mostly because of that. And all of them were problematic. Some instantly.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to throw my hat in here as well, sadly. The game's performance has apparently dropped big time for me on PC in the period that I haven't been playing. I just want to play my game normally. :(
5 -
My game still lags and boots me this giving me a penalty. The game froze and the next thing I’m in the basement floating just off the hook and then it froze again and booted me. They keep “patching” it and doesn’t seem to do anything. It gets maybe a little better each time but it’s still bad.
4 -
It doesn't even need to reach that point. Just watch PC players playing on Low, that would be perfect for us.
1 -
I've put all my data into an external hard drive as a backup for this
0 -
I doubt they need to downgrade the graphics that much for a performance boost. It's the special effects, like the smoke and fog: BHVR needs to fix or nix them.
7 -
It is funny. I hardly every used dead hard before when the game worked but now when I would like to use it, it just freezes like before the "fix" again.
So what did they fixed again? Why am I forced not to play with the perks I would like to?
I honestly feel like rage quitting whenever that happens but I never dced in my life.
It is just frustrating that the perk that is supposed to help me just freeze me in place so the killer can down me even more easily than without it.
How do you people even have the willpower to play this mess? I can hardly last a game or two in a day when I decide to finally play it. And I just switch to other games.

Question, I haven't played the game at all after the event ended, is it less buggy, or is it more buggy? Better question, has anything important been fixed?
2 -
Nothing has changed.
6 -
How reassuring, thanks for the information. Looks like it's time to take a longer break, luckily I'm just taking a break from games all together rn have a nice day/night comrade.
5 -
How has performance been for you console players lately?
2 -
Still pretty bad.
4 -
Bad tbh. :(
4 -
Bad as usual with no fixes in sight.
4 -
exhaust perks are the most weaponized perks in the game against killers right now because of poor optimization
0 -
Unless you are survivor on last gen where dead hard freezes you in place and killers on next gen and pc get easy downs.
Edit: Also same could be said about sloppy butcher and some killers powers that stop last gen survivors in place when used by killers.
All of us are handicaped on last gen, killers and survivors.
2 -
Man that’s such a shame. I’m really wanting it to get better but it’s hard to look forward to anything BHVR does. Honestly the least they can do is just acknowledge that they’re not going to do anything about it.

Trying to do the killer Tome challenges on Switch keeps putting me in a funk. The choppy framerate is so [BAD WORD]ing awful that even when I complete the challenge I'm so frustrated it doesn't feel rewarding. Killer is miserable, miserable on the Switch. I would not touch killer on the Switch at all if it weren't for the challenges.
I would hate this game, I would set fire to this game and watch it burn, if the Switch version were the only one I owned. I really [BAD WORD]ing would. Hell, I'm getting there, anyway. I can't chase, I can't hit things, how can the game exist in this state?! How?!
3 -
This is why I think that downgrading the graphics won't do much for other consoles too.
2 -
Last I played last week it was abysmal as Killer, as Survivor it had some bad moments but was FAR better in comparison. I wanted to practice Pyramid Head, since I'm a diehard fanatic of the Silent Hill franchise and I just couldn't enjoy the matches. Whenever I'd use PH's power I'd lag/stutter. Made it unfun to out corruption down and even worse to try to land his range attack.
Lot of Survivors I played know about the performance issues and seem to be trying to make it worse by using Dead Hard when not being chased or running around me to cause a stutter. One match as Trapper I lunged to hit a Survivor (2 of em healing) and it looked like I was gonna hit, whiffed and was held frozen for at least 3 solid seconds before the animation finished.
Tomorrow I'll try to play some matches, but I'm really not holding out for much hope for any sense of stability. It's the number one reason I haven't been able to really play this game for so long. Blight being added was when I last tried playing seriously and it was bad back then for myself. Honestly the last time I remember just having an absolute blast playing was when Ghost Face was added. I was playing non-stop for a good while. Most of my issues began when they started redoing the maps graphics and it's just kinda festered since then.
3 -
I think, at best, it will delay what I see as inevitable.
2 -
I still remembe the 3 hour long Ghostface queue times.
I legit went to the store for groceries and came back and still wasn't in a game
2 -
Well we are effed I guess. There is no happy ending for us.
And crossplay is just like a salt to the wound to me whenever I turn it on. We are treated like garbage by devs and the community.
1 -
Performance has been bad for me, and I'm on PC. I can only imagine how miserable it must be on console.
4 -
Indeed.
I've been streaming more lately, but stopped because of MMR. As soon as it's disabled, I'll begin again, that way people can get a live look at the game.
1 -
I'm so sick of being punished for BHVRs bugs. I'm on PC and it still just lags and kicks me. They NEED to remove the damn DC penalty until they can actually fix this crap.

I discovered what is causing me poor performance on the RCPD map and it is that annoying orange pustule of deterioration, i demand they rework that map.
So far the performance has been good in most of my games, but that flickering and FPS drops in the blood network, in the files and when the game starts is annoying to see.
2 -
I hope not because I like that stuff but if it means better performance I'll take it
0 -
I'm pretty sure before the RE chapter was released we predicted those things were going to cause performance issues since they were so similar to the blighted cosmetics that cause performance issues already. They need to look into why things like that in cosmetics and maps kill performance.
0 -
The same is beautiful aesthetically, but at the same time the map is also dark in many corridors, the 2nd floor near the library is an example.
0 -
Imagine you vault with Lithe then the game freezes, and a few seconds later you're on the ground about a dozen feet away up against a tree or wall you apparently ran into. The killer is over you wiping their weapon, prolly giggling at your "choice" of routing...
Every. Dang. Match.

I thought that there would be no problems with this chapter, much less did I think that RCPD would become a map due to how complicated it is to chase, I thought it would be Raccoon City in Ruins or Spencer Mansion, but RCPD is still a good map, only that its Performance and playability issues should be worked on and prioritized first, make it a little brighter and fix those pustules I mentioned.
