Please nerf keys...
This is getting stupid.. Devs really don't care about this broken thing in this game?

They have said they are reworking keys and moris.
4 -
They will rework keys into a basekit mechanic. Probably around the anniversary event 2022.
Edit: im just guessing the release.
1 -
Forgive me for not being optimistic.
Likewise, they had no problem destroying Mori's, why not do the same for Keys?
14 -
They also said they were having an early game slowdown period two years ago.
10 -
Probably because it was easier to balance moris out, it was just a value change.
I believe keys need to be completely replaced as a mechanic.

They never going to nerf key this mecanic favor the survivor the whale of this broken game why should they do that
5 -
They'll nerf it.
Eventually.
Probably.
I think.
4 -
Sorta.
One day.
1 -
They keys being tied to some challenges and a couple of Achievements/Trophies complicates the process.
1 -
They don't, fixing them is EXTREMELY simple.
Make hatch spawn once all 5 gens are finished or only 1 survivor alive. Simple number change just like mories.
Perfect fix for now, no premature escaping the match just like no premature kills with mories.
5 -
Agreed. I can see hatch spawning only under 3 conditions:
- All 5 generators are completed
- Only 1 survivor is left in the match
- Cheating or hacking is detected on the part of the killer
Theres already a way to detect hatch before it spawns (without cheating) so if you're paying attention you know where to go.
Also, maybe, keys can be changed:
- The Rare Broken Key cannot detect hatch even with add-ons
- The Very Rare Dull Key can see the aura of the hatch once it spawns within _(8?)_ meters, but cannot open a closed hatch without a very rare or ultra rare add-on
- The Ultra Rare Skeleton Key can see the aura of the hatch once it spawns within _(12?)_ meters, can can open a closed hatch without add-ons

They can't do that change without changing the 4man escape achievements, and changing achievements on console is a huge pain apparently.
0 -
Why, just finsh all 5 gens and all escape through visible hatch with a key bypassing gates. Entirely possible.
It's literally a perfect change that accounts for everything problematic with them if you want to evade full rework.
0 -
I hate this excuse.
Keys is just a value change as well.
just change Number of completed Generators = Number of alive Survivors + 1 to Number of completed Generators = 5
With the same exeption of a single survivor. Keys are no longer an issue and they can work on their rework in peace
2 -
...
How do you think that achievement is gotten?
Nothing changes about that achievement. It's litterally exactly the same
2 -
Does that really solve the issue though?
0 -
Yes, games don't end before gens are done out of nowhere.
That's the only real issue with keys. Matches ending suddenly.
5 -
Yes, survivors wouldn't be able to bypass gens anymore, only gates just like mories can't bypass catching survivor 3 times before removing them.
What else is problematic about keys but survivors escaping from the match before they do what they're supposed to, gens. Nobody really minds when final survivor escapes through hatch when everyone else is already dead and killer basically won.
Yet for some bizzare reason, devs can't do a simple number change to the most busted item surivors have that is equivalent to old mories.

Keys and moris are being tied together in some way.
0 -
The achievement would still be obtainable. 5 gens competed. 4 survivors can still exit if alive. No worries.
0 -
No. The achievement is have all 4 survivors escape through the hatch
1 -
And the hatch is available when all 5 gens are completed. With a key, it can be opened as the person above was mention inside. Achievement would still be obtainable because 4 survivors could escape
1 -
No, it's an easy fix.
Remove the hatch spawning condition while there are still generators left to repair.
Hatch only spawns; when there is one remaining survivor, or when all gens are repaired.

People are still going on about this? I'm not surprised.
Despite the key's current use, the point of the key is for second chances especially since 90% of the time the killer will almost always get to the hatch and close it unless an offering is brought to shift its location along with said survivor just blendetting most of the game before ditching their teammates. Let's be real now, I Don't doubt that this situation hasn't already happened.
I agree with players escaping through the hatch while there are still gens to do is unfair but hypothetically, it'd avoid Certain perks which could easily turn the game around for the killer or earn them that 4K. I.E: Noed, Blood Warden, No way out. (Since running all three perks would make it impossible to escape and would mostly rely on the killer playing either like complete garbage or killing all survivors before it procs, so, i mean, there's that.)
Let's also be real with the fact that most games in DBD don't really last for all gens to get completed for the hatch to spawn and if that was the case, again, the killer would look for it to ensure no escape since Exit-gates have a REALLY bad habit of spawning within less then 80 meters of each other, meaning the killer wouldn't have to look very hard for the survivor in question.
This just gives me 'Entilted' Killer vibes since so many people are making complaints about Keys because they missed out on a 4K. Honestly, if that's all the fuss is about, (Which i'm CONVINCED, it is.) i doubt the devs would think twice about changing it.

We found it boys, THE DBD forum user. "We can't nerf keys because something else is in the game"
Edit: Yes, while keys do help prevent things like noed, bloodwarden, etc. the hatch spawning at 5 gens only or 1 person remaining would still counter those things. The fact that you're saying killer mains are entitled for wanting keys to be nerfed after they've been a known problem in the community for years now shows that you not only have no clue what you're talking about, you're the entitled one.

They literally just had to change a value on Keys too.
Disable 3 escape robberies because a match actually starts when there are only 1 or two generators left. Only spawn hatch when there's one survivor but I'm generous and say two survivors and also keep the same generator to hatch spawn ratio then hatch spawns as usual when all generators are done.

I never called anyone entitled, i said threads like this give me 'Entilted' Killer Vibes. All about context and clearly, you didn't pay attention since i agreed with the fact KEYS are VERY VERY unfair to killers who have to watch a potential Win get robbed from them when Survivors escape via Hatch.
However, I countered it with a literal fact and I'm sure literally every killer knows this but name the number of times you shut the hatch compared to the number of people who escaped VIA hatch; I ASSURE YOU, the ratio between one and another will be VASTLY different.
I think it's perfectly fair that Killer gets to close hatch but I also think that Keys are fair game depending on the circumstances given. I hate survivors who escape a match VIA Key when they could just escape through exit gate whether the killer has Noed or Blood. ( No way out is a different story.) Or even Survivors who escape while theirs still gens to do, unless there's another survivor left, it's a gen 3/2/1; It varies but you get the gist.
Try not to turn the tables back on people without all the facts or understanding the context given, doesn't look good on you.

Except it isn't, Sony & MS are very strict with Trophy / Achievement changes and this would completely break an achievement and make it unobtainable, it's not as simple as you want to pretend it is.
Edit - I'm dumb and this comment is incorrect :)

They could just make keys take time to open hatch
0 -
Hey they did. Nemesis perk "lethal persuer" is probably what's left of that idea. /S
I mean this sarcastically but i wouldn't be surprised if I would be right in the money with this idea and lose all hope in behaviour that they don't keep trying to solve all of the problems the community brings up by perks.
