BHVR only thinking about the survivor side in this Spirit nerf
Yes Spirit needed a change and I’m not going to act like she didn’t. However, you only take one side into consideration. Iron Will users will be next to impossible to catch because they can hear where you are and you have NO INFO on where they are. Isn’t that the same exact issue survivors had with Spirit?
Congrats Iron Will, you have officially been crowned as my least favorite perk in the whole game. You’re a disgrace to the game and to all perks and I hope you get nerfed to the ground hard. It’s hard for me to actually hate Dead Hard and NOED anymore now.
To survivors, I better never hear “Spirit is OP” or “ Spirit takes no skill” anymore. If you still say that, then I honestly don’t know what to say.

Yeah I agree I thought the nerf to Spirit was a little bit over kill. I mean I know I may sound killer sided but I also thought that yeah spirit did needed a little nerf. I also think that the dust blow thing when she walks wasn’t needed aside from knowing she was coming from 24 meters which was fine by me. I think the new add-ons might be fun to use but I fear she will become more add-on dependent in the future but we will see.

I hope I’m overreacting. I’ll still play her a bunch because she’ll always be my favorite. I’ll test her out in the PTB see how it goes.

Iron Will would be fine if it didn't seemingly ######### with the rest of the audio the way it does.
Sometimes I can still hear breathing and footsteps even if they have IW, sometimes their completely silent. That's the only issue I have with the perk.

Yeah, I hope she will still be fun. I mean I don’t want her to become add-on dependent like some of the others. I mean I’m not a very good spirit and I don’t really play her a lot but I still want her to be fun. But yeah we will have to wait and see what the ptb has in store.

I'd be happy if they brought back stridor now and did something about iron will (which I don't say lightly bc as someone who adores iron will and almost never takes it off just for the dumb stuff I can pull in chase while injured)
But iron will is too much, both 100% injured noise removal at all times and the removal of other noises as well. We've got some interesting survivor perks now that remove your injured noises in different contexts but they're rarely run because they're never going to be as good as permanent, total silence without downsides.

Honestly I think they should allow Spirit to hear her own breathing to time her phases correctly and maybe throw survivors off, similar to Old Freddy

From what it sounds like in the dev update, it’s going to be the phasing sound, not the breathing noises.

That's basically what the Spirit does when there's Iron Will in the match, flip the coin and guess it pays off.
I hope the Devs don't have double standards when considering the changes.

I don't! Go ahead and read through my post history if you really need to know. But as you said yourself, Spirit has been an unbalanced, broken stain on this game for three years. This nerf is very deserved.

Rework it entirely. No perk should give a permanent no-noise effect. Off The Record and Quick & Quiet are model perks.

I never said she didn't need changes but it was overkill and makes Iron Will users nearly impossible to catch. Iron Will will be just as problematic against Spirit but BHVR will take a whole year to address that.

You can still hear footsteps. Obviously right now I dont know if that is still bugged for spirit, but footsteps are still one of the most reliant and easy way to hear survivors.

I don't think she'll be much worse but I'm sure the change of dust was to be inclusive of the impaired players that maybe can't hear but enjoy playing the game or maybe for people not using a headset. Plus you've still got your new add on that sends you back to the husk which will give a ton of mind game potential.

It wasn't just a 50/50 of getting hit as survivor, it was also a 50/50 of hitting as killer because Spirit can't see #########.
By giving directional audio and dust that let's you know the exact position of Spirit, they have essentially made it so that you can see her without her being able to see you.
This change is completely survivor sided, as they don't address the killer's side of the 50/50.

Spirits power only allows her to be boom or bust, no in-between. This will make her very very weak. It's a literal flip of her power, spirit use to have all the info and survivors had none now it's the other way around, talk about short slighted.

It was a joke lol. The change I'd make to Iron Will is to give it a 45-second timer after getting injured, it will deactivate until you are fully healed, and then it will do the process again when you go from healthy to injured.

I think they should:
- Make Iron Will survivors still breath when injured.
- Put Iron Will on a timer of 30-60 seconds of complete silence, after which injured sounds slowly return to normal volume over another 30 seconds or so. And have it reset when healed. This gives some incentive to not stay injured the entire game and some downside to the perk while still retaining its use in chase.
Maybe the breathing bug fix would be enough. I think one or the other change would be healthy.

Finally, Spirit Mains are put on the Copium machine, upset that their power actually has viable counterplay and needs -thinking- applied to it.
All this is, is a melodramatic attempt to make this nerf seem more impactful than it is. Just like with Nurse when EVERYONE was freaking out about her blinks having a cooldown.
Y'know what happened? She's ended up just fine. And so will Spirit, you just aren't as unpredictable anymore and you have to actually adapt. If you're a spirit that relies on -breathing- to figure out where a survivor is, rather than the several other indications of where survivors are going (dust from vaulting, vault sounds, brush, movement of grass, scratch marks) then sorry, you were never a good Spirit to begin with. Its not that spirits take no skill; you're probably just not as good as you think you are with Spirit.
I also like how you immediately separated the argument that any disagreement or indication that the "Spirit is OP" and "Didn't take skill" is a purely survivor-sided idea, even though people from both sides of the community have said this ######### since her buffs.

Iron Will needs to be changed as follows to compensate:
When standing or crouching completely still as survivor, your grunts of pain noise is reduced by 80/90/100%.
This makes it so if you’re HIDING from a killer and not running around then you won’t make noise. But if you start running then you resume making pain noises.
Seems like a fair “balancing” of an overpowered perk.

Spirit nerf is too harsh, she had counterplay. At the very least the devs should revert the stridor nerf.

As a dedicated Spirit main, this nerf is going ot hurt her simply because BHVR is giving survivor's too much information and defeating the purpose of Rin Yamoka's kit.
Her kicking up dust when she's phasing was a good idea, but the fact that they are giving her a directional phasing sound defeats the purpose of her kit.
I said this in one of my video's I posted 2 months ago, there is simply no way to nerf Spirit without butchering or defeating the purpose of her kit. BHVR did exactly that and now Spirit is about to fall off the top tier killer list as they are implamenting something that was already tested and was confirmed made her weak.
If this cycle continues the killer community will die since right now Nurse, Spirit, and Blight are the only strong killer's keeping the killer community alive

Spirit still moves at 176% base line, has no fatigue, and has the post phase speed boost. You also aren't always going to have LOS on her footsteps. She'll probably be fine imo, but we'll have to see.
As for Iron will yeah that perk is dumb.

This is why I wanted them to lock the breathing/injured noises to 50% or 100% while phasing, so that Stridor wouldn't increase it or Iron Will wouldn't decrease it.

I'm not uspet with Spirit having counterplay. I've been asking it for a while but it's the fact they didn't address Iron Will is blasphemy. If you don't think Iron Will needs a nerf, I don't know what to tell you.

So survivors can see and hear me, but I can't see or hear them? When I use her power now I give myself a disadvantage instead of an advantage? Very Cool. I can tell much thought was put into this decision.

Iron Will doesn’t need a nerf though. It has counterplay, unlike Spirit up until now.
