Flashlights are broken. but not in the way you think
i am going to keep his short and sweet. they are not busted in the way you may think. imo, the angles are stupid

Wait are you saying the angles are survivor-sided or killer-sided, cause I don't know whether to be enraged by, or rabidly agree with this post.
1 -
well i can get blinded when i look away. its annoying and with many other dumb angles
0 -
oh so its anti-survivor
yes agree nerf angles survivors toxic
2 -
One thing I will never agree with is consecutive blinds. One blind and that's it. Killer should have immunity afterwards for ~2-3s
6 -
This plus removal of the bs angles
0 -
yea the angles are dumb
0 -
Blind validation when? (As in on the killers end)
1 -
i guess thats what im on about. the blind validation needs to be fixed .as wit hhit validation. if on the killers side it disconnects at any second it should cancel the blind
0 -
You can have blindness immunity by doing one simple thing.
Look up.
1 -
I think they are fine for the most part they are very situational to get real use out of them and I've rarely been hit by the bs angles.
I am a former killer main now a solo survivor main since boons.
0 -
Flashlights are fine I think, tho having a teammate chase me down to get a flashy save all game while I'm looping and sandbagging me is fun. :/
1 -
Sorry sitting on gens all game is boring and I do this some games because just can't stay on gens anymore.

Being honest the main issue with flashlights is that they aren't allowed to be good as a flashlight save is one of the most powerful things a survivor can do in the game:
It heals a survivor for one health state(from downed and carried to injured).
It stuns the killer.
It blinds the killer giving the survivors even more time to escape with.
It resets a chase.
Its a mechanic that while its very fun to pull off is completely unbalanceable.
Also being blinded through shack walls is dumb.
1 -
Sure it's boring but what's more annoying is getting downed cause some Jane main js trying to be helpful
1 -
The flashlight is the most powerful item in the game and I am tired of pretending it's not.
2 -
If they are legit sandbagging you for the down thats messed up. I'll see your injured and go to the area your at ill probably throw a body block but I won't purposely screw people over.
As I said before im a former killer main so I have to find excitement some how other wise its hold button maybe get chased and then gg.

Meg after spending 8 minutes failing to save any of her teammates with the flashlight and never touching a gen
2 -
Meg issue, not a flashlight issue.
The medkit can undo one health state.
The flashlight can undo one health state AND stun AND blind AND negate Killer progress.
The two are not comparable because a Meg is bad.
1 -
try looking at walls when you pick up, and into the air while carrying. if you've got good enough spacial awareness you'll be golden.
as for flashlight blinds at pallets? lightborn, I guess. Stridor could also help.
0 -
Not even close they are just above keys. Unless the survivor goes down right next to another survivor with a flashlight on a gen then they are wasting time not doing gens which more than makes up for that blind and downing them again 5 seconds later and then putting them self in a position to take damage or go down.
0 -
That would be a killer nerf actually. Just look down while you're blinded the first time, they try to re-blind and make no distance AND you're not blinded.
The angles should definitely be fixed instead.
0 -
Look up? The only way to get a flashlight save is if the killer is animation locked plus it has to be timed right. Do you want to go back to insist blinds because that was terrible and actually broken
0 -
Name me another item that can undo an entire chase.
0 -
There's an immunity called looking down mate.
1 -
Med kits and it doesn't take another person off a gen to do. And it actually take skill to pull of a flashlight save and it takes no skill to heal yourself with a medkit. Toolboxes can end the match so fast that those down where the flashlight save would of happend don't have a chance to happen.

Flashbang, Locker, Toolbox, Breakout, DS, Breakdown, etc. :P
0 -
Medkits do not undo an entire chase. They undo one health state. That is not even close to an entire chase.
A flashlight can undo the chase, the down, AND the hook. In THREE seconds. No medkit in the game can boast that kind of power.
1 -
And then you walk up and smack them again boom wow 5 extra seconds. A med kit rest the chase and you get a second speed boost after hit which waste 20 seconds alone no flashlight has the potential to do that. You can also do it multiple times during the match and there's insta heal. And here's the big thing a medkit takes one person to use a flashlight takes 2 one on the shoulder and one to try and save.

any #tournamentplayer would claim that med kits are the strongest item in the game (at least before boon totems made them a bit redundant). Flashlight saves rarely happen to me when i play killer and when they do, it's mostly because i was unaware and unfocused. You can easily bait them and get some pressure through slugging.
Flashlight saves through small gaps are great skill though, a swf mate from me is really good at that and it definitely has a huge impact on the game when it's a close one.

It doesn't matter if it takes another person. We are talking about the power of the ITEM, not some scenario you are creating to try to make it sound harder or less efficient.
And no, it takes more than 5 seconds to hit someone after a flashlight blind unless they literally are standing there AFK. On some maps, that is just one vault and off they go for a length of time FAR longer than 5 seconds.
0 -
It does matter if it takes another person because that count for the items efficiency and item that takes 2 people to use is far less effective then an item that only takes one. You want to try and look at the item completely out of context which is pointless.
No I can literally hear where they are going and can make a move to put myself in a position to still make a play.
You know how often I 4k a 4 man flashlight team? More than I lose because they are so busy trying to get saves that gens aren't getting done. On top of that you got lightborn if there that much of a problem for you but I don't waste the slot for it because ill just look at a wall or bait the pick up.

You are trying REALLY REALLY hard to ignore the straight up objective effects of these items.
Medikit: removes health state.
Flashlight: forces a caught Survivor to be dropped with then gets a head start to get away.
These are objective facts.

Ok so its pointless to talk to you. Have a good day

Doesn't work if im animation locked

Flashlight charges should be looked at. The fact that someone can click click click the whole game and still have charges for 6+ blinds is pretty ridiculous.

It’s more than a 5 second swing if a flashlight saves a downed survivor from being carried. You lose a minimum of 2 seconds which is at least an 8 meter distance, plus you stay blinded for a few second after the drop so won’t know which way to run for another second or two. Overall the survivor you drop gets at least a 10 meter headstart, which at normal speeds catching up at 0.6 m/s takes at least 16 seconds to catch back up. So you’ve lost a minimum of most of a leg of a chase, plus if there’s a pallet nearby you probably lose additional time on top of that.
So a successful (keyword) flashlight save is a much bigger swing than what a survivor gets from healing a health state from a medkit. The downside to flashlights, though, is they don’t often succeed because they’re tricky to time and the killer can take preventative measures by looking at a wall when picking someone up and by looking away when the save is mistimed. Plus the save attempt requires a second survivor doing it, and in order to pull it off they have to spend a bit of time off the gens preparing to time the blind. Thus flashlights are basically a high risk, high reward item, difficult to use and inconsistent but potentially swingy.
Personally as a killer I’m usually relieved when a survivor is fixated on trying to blind me since it usually doesn’t work, it means I’m keeping two people off the gens for the price of one chase. And blinding me at a pallet is mostly a waste of the survivor’s time, other than giving them some bonus bloodpoints, since they could instead be getting extra distance from me. I’m much more impacted by med kits and tool kits I think. (Keys are even more high risk/high reward than flashflights. They take a fair amount of luck to work, but if they do it’s a bonus 5000 point escape and I lose a kill. So I’m even less often impacted by keys.)

Thanks guys for the help but this is more of a change to put killers back into the aggressor category, and be less of a play thing for survivors
0 -
the bs angles should be removed
0 -
I was not aiming at flashlights being like that. I am aiming at the BS angles. and I am aware med-kits are much stronger.
0 -
i am aiming at the bs angles thats all im aiming at. tho i do think there should be a limit of 3 flashlight saves a game. wouldnt affect many ppl
0 -
I meant for stopping saves specifically, but yeah, getting blinded at pallets is kinda a non-issue as long as the survivor isn't also a stealth god.
