Bring back old Freddy!!!
Never got a chance to play him because I discovered DBD a year after his rework. He looked interesting and I along with many others want him back. At the very least, can y’all give him a brown bloodpoint offering that let’s you play as the old version? Is that too much to ask for?
Still won’t be as fun as Spirit though but will anyone ever be as fun as Spirit?

A THOUSAND TIMES YES <3

I discovered DbD back in the days of old Freddy, and as someone who experienced him--
P l e a s e don't.
2 -
or just make his dream pallet add ons turn him into old Freddy, each rarity increase decreases the amount of time it takes to pull some one into the dream. With these add ons Survivors no longer suffer from Micro Sleep. Tagging a Survivor with sleepiness adds a percentage towards Dream Projection
Dream Pallets and Dream Snares now become part of base kit
You're welcome BHVR

Pluto says yes.
6 -
You disappoint me.
10 -
What was bad about him? Surely he’s more interesting than what he is now.
5 -
I like it.
3 -
You and I have many disagreements, but it is good to see your instance on this particular situation.
As you once said to me:
"I would be all for it now"
3 -
Good doggo, he knows what is best.
3 -
Tiffany says no.
Look at that regal, disapproving look. She was there back in the old days, she didn't like what she saw.
1 -
Tiffany also disappoints me.
4 -
Pluto said you’re weird. (Ignore that football game in the background)
3 -
I know current Freddy is an absolute snoozefest (heh), but please believe me when I say that old freddy was pure beige cube simulator levels of interesting to actually play.
He was literally just an M1 killer that took forever to hit you and made everyone else take forever to do things.
It was bad, man.
1 -
Maybe they can bring him back and give him some QoL buffs.
2 -
You better take that back

Spread your lies elsewhere.
Your words of deceit will not be heard here, not when it comes to my killer.
If you had bad experiences, that was on you and your failure to see what made him special.
2 -
Hell to the yes!
3 -
Mods pls bring back the dislike button.
3 -
Heh, saw a thread you didn't like and immediately ask for a highly problematic feature to return?
Really?

The periods where Survivors could heal/cleanse/do gens right in your face because you could not hurt them AT ALL while they were awake.
The best was camping pallets, using self-care, predropping as they are about to fall asleep, self-caring more, then failing a heal skillcheck (or popping a gen) to wake up & be immune to damage again.
The fact that old Freddy literally had a state where Survivors were flat-out IMMUNE to damage made him horrible. People seem to forget that part for the nostalgia.
1 -
"The periods where Survivors could heal/cleanse/do gens right in your face because you could not hurt them AT ALL while they were awake."
That is correct, yes, but fixing that doesn't require a rework. It requires an Incapacitated Status Effect during the Transition.
People who want him back, me in particular, have thought of ways to fix his unnecessary weaknesses.
Never assume otherwise.
3 -
I don't think many people care that he was bad. They just want to play a killer they enjoyed and not Mr. Generic Anti-looper we currently have. Plus, I think most people that want Old Freddy back also want him to be buffed in some way.
2 -
Fair enough, but most people do not say such. They just say 'Old Freddy is better' and since I lack the ability to read minds, I have to assume they mean 100% of old Freddy and proceed with my reply with that in mind. :)
2 -
You just have to know where to look :)
When it comes to Old Freddy, good ole' GeneralV is your guy!
1 -
I will admit; Old Freddy was fun, if you just did not expect to get any hooks. Remove that period of immunity, or mitigate it in some way, and I'd like him.
As you said; use Incapacitated when they are in the sleep transition.
Also; remove their ability to self-wake-up via failed skillchecks. That was an at-will way to negate Freddy's ability to attack. They should always need someone ELSE to wake them up, or find the clocks.
0 -
I wouldn't keeping the skillchecks as a wake up method. With Self-Care no longer in the meta, the situation might prove present itself differently then what it did years ago. I do, however, see where you are coming from.
As for the clocks...I kinda hate them, so I not so certain about that.
1 -
True, the clocks are not great, but SoloQ need some way to self-wake-up that's not 'Get hooked'. And since I'd lobby for failed skillchecks to not wake up anymore (because that's practically at-will); you kind of need to clocks.
I mean, you COULD give Freddy an add-on where failed skillchecks take more Progress% than normal, but allow Survivors to self-wake-up. 😈

Perhaps. There will be room for discussions in the future.
What matters now, is getting him back.
It is my mission.
1 -
nah his description is quite spot on
0 -
Then you never understood him.
1 -
I would like to see a Freddy with elements of his old and new self, with failed skill checks not waking up (the clocks and awake survivors are both an option to wake up). His animation of putting survivors to sleep was so cool. For every survivor sleeping he could be stronger, like vaulting/breaking faster or having a mini enduring effect, while still having the teleport and the snares. I just don't know how it could be button-wise, since there would be 3 actions: teleporting, putting to sleep and placing snares. But I would also like to see the relation beetween his TR and being asleep inverted. For awake survivors, he would have no TR or very small TR. For sleeping survivors, normal TR but he would be much more powerful.
1 -
glad they changed him, at least now he is stronger
0 -
And way less interesting.
6 -
Old Freddy was (rather ironically) a snoozefest. His rework is one of the better things to happen to the game.
He had nothing going for him outside of being able to see auras of asleep Survivors far away from him. That was his sole positive trait, and it was nothing special, nor did it offset Survivors having several seconds of invulnerability until you dragged them asleep.
He's so much more interactive and enjoyable now. Alarm clocks, dream snares, fake pallets and generator teleportation and fake-outs. He has a niche now, and is actually viable above low-level gameplay, unlike Old Freddy.
0 -
trust me, this isn't much of a stepdown
0 -
I don't think the word "interactive" belongs anywhere near Modern Freddy.
3 -
legit why not? it was a total rework so his old design is still somewhere in their files so why not have the option to play the old freddy?
of course they could buff it a bit and change it slightly but other than this why not right?
3 -
I wasn't around when old freddy was here, but like, in terms of being closer to the source material then old freddy was definitely better, and I think that's what they should prioritize when making a licensed killer.
2 -
So you are telling me, that you are happy that the most unique and interesting killer in the game was completely destroyed, and replaced with a boring mess?
I found that impossibly hard to believe.
And the "stronger" part is extremely questionable. As of now, I can safely say that an Old Freddy player can perform way better than a current Freddy player.
Without a shadow of a doubt.
I do not appreciate your lies.
You are correct in two things: invulnerability and the teleport being nice. Everything else is incorrect.
He had nothing else going for him outside of Aura control if you didn't know what you were doing. If you did, however...boy, the weapon you were wielding! He could make gens borderline impossible to complete, and there was a Forum member here who even mastered that tactic. He immediately started chases with a huge advantage, including a free hit at the beginning. Heck, he also had a pseudo-stealth.
And now...everything about him is boring. He insultingly hits Survivors who are awake, his alarm clocks are yet another escape route and he already had a reasonable amount of those, his Snares are boring and promote nothing but sleep-inducing gameplay. And his Dream Pallets barely work.
His rework was nothing but a failure, a huge middle finger to everyone who enjoyed and dedicated themselves to that killer.
4 -
Honestly I have no idea why they reworked him. It was just a waste of time and completely was unfair for people that enjoyed the character. Sad thing is, I don’t see them changing him back any time soon.
3 -
Good to see reasonable people here <3
4 -
we'll never get a chance to experience old Freddy. 😪
3 -
Sadge
1 -
if only I had a time machine.
1 -
One day, you will.
0 -
I will?
0 -
Hey, here's a fun idea! How about you grow up, stop accusing people of 'lying' because their opinions differ to yours, and quit acting condescending to everyone about this subject matter?
1 -
Yes.
Or you will see me die trying to get him back.
But I think the first option is better ;)
1 -
We're both on journeys for our special characters. You are trying to get old Freddy back while I'm trying to make Spirit more relevant to everyone. We must start a Freddy and Spirit movement.
2 -
he's not strong at all. I beat most Freddy's, it's always an easy W.
