NEW SURVIVOR ITEM: SMOKE BOMB
WHAT DOES A "SMOKE BOMB" DO?
Simply put, the smoke bomb DOES NOT blind the killer the same way flashbangs or flashlights do. Instead, it obscures the auras with the blindness effect, as well as obscuring the killer's sight with the visible smoke as well. This would be a fun alternative to typical blinding and flashbangs. I specifically would like to add that it only gives the killer the blindness effect while in the area of the smoke, as soon as the killer exits the smoke, the auras return to the killer.
Possible addon Ideas
To start off I will not be listing the separate addons that essentially only upgrade the ones prior I.e. slightly to moderately.
- Iron Fuse: Slightly/Moderately increases smoke bomb duration
- Tear Gas: Makes the blindness effect persist after the killer exits the smoke for 3 seconds
- Gunpowder: Slightly/Moderately increases smoke bomb range (also could include by distance ex. +3 meters)
- C4 (ULTRA RARE ADDON): Grants the ability to "Place Smoke Bomb" once placed Press The Second Action Ability Button within 10 meters of the placed smoke bomb to activate Smoke Bomb remotely.
Slightly Decreases Smoke Bomb Range
Moderately Increases Smoke Bomb Duration
Final Thoughts
Honestly, I think that we need more items to play with as survivors as well as different interactions to have with the killer and other survivors. I'd love to see your ideas with the possible additions to survivor items as well as new offerings, should we be able to modify how the trial behaves more? let me know!
Thank you, love you all!

I agree with a smoke bomb

I would love if you could place smoke bombs on pallets or vaults beforehand so i really like the idea.

it's a harmless way to just sorta getaway, or a lazy way to get the save without actually getting the save

I like it in a way, i agree that survivors need more items but of course we have to see it in relation how it would influence the killer gameplay. I can see killers like huntress being denied of some range shots here with creating these visual walls but how obnoxious would it get over the whole spectrum for some killers and could it even be considered a big enough influence to call it a nerf for some type of killers.
Beside that little concern i wonder about the usual item creation. Current lobby equippable Items usually have a depletion rate and there are perks which can influence them and re-fill them for example. Items like flashbangs are perk items which are created in game - so wouldnt it be more of an perk item the way you describe it? If not we might have to take a look how survivor item perks could effect these new items as well.

counterplay
Well, I think this could be a creative way to counter trickster and huntress, but of course, you don't know which killer you're going against until you get in the match.
Item form
I noticed you mentioned the idea of this being in the form of a perk, and while that sounds nice, I see this as more of a one-time use item such as the firecracker, that's why I created the add ons.
but yes I'm also not against the idea of it being a perk, but seeing it be reusable to me sounds a bit annoying. a compromise could be having ammo, so you spawn with 3 smoke bombs, or you spawn with 2, since it doesn't affect the killer in a grand way, I wouldn't view the notion of survivors having multiple bombs as an issue.
Perk form prerequisites
Obviously if this were to be in the form of a perk, it would need a prerequisite. I think some ideas could be cleansing totems, being chased by the killer for a certain amount of time, or healing/unhooking others. 3 seperate ideas, all different ways to nerf or buff how easy it is to gain a Smoke Bomb. If they really wanted to make it difficult to earn, they could set the prerequisite to taking protection hits.
Thank you for the ideas!

*stares at killer* *throws smoke bomb* *vanishes into thin air*
Fr tho it's a really nice idea, it doesn't sound like it would be too strong but could offer some good plays opportunities (it would even nerf facecamping) and create entire new playstyles. I like the idea of having it as an item with mutliple charges, with add-ons to bring more or make the AoE bigger. We could also get a perk similar to Leon's to craft smoke bombs during the trial.
Would the killer be stunned by the bomb going off? If so it probably would be too op, so I'm assuming not.
and honestly the memes would be hilarious.

Counterstrike vibes.
Would probably hurt performance immensly...

It should benefit people that are good in chase so I think that should be the prerequisite for about... 90/80/70 total seconds of chase to get a smoke bomb. That sound good?

Oh really? so the fog simulation that is constantly playing throughout every single map must be incredibly taxing as well right? DBDS ENTIRE THEME IS FOG!!! sorry that's just a funny argument to me lol

I mentioned that it DOES NOT stun the killer the same way a flashbang does, so no you can not get saves with it, that would not be fair, because of it's radius, it obscures vision, and I actually really like that you bring up countering face camping, I never even thought of that, but that definitely helps for sure!

I think that's a very steep number, a large number of people can't loop for even 55 and that's high MMR. no, I think I would take it down to 70/60/50 that sounds a lot more reasonable, and possible to attain more than once. But a chase prerequisite doesn't sound like it would work, we need to flow with the already established terminology, so most likely you would still have to craft one in a locker, doesn't really help you much if you were being chased to get it right? I think my original idea of it being an item attainable in anyone's blood web, remember this doesn't stun the killer nor does it blind them, it doesn't need to be difficult to obtain one, since it's not that OP in the first place, it's just a last resort get away

Did you not read the part of TOTAL chase time? It can still be a last resort getaway. Just have the item automatically put into your inventory once the perk meter is filled and you aren't holding any items. It is not a "Last long in a single chase for this amount of time." That's too weak.

Haha. I am old.
You maybe don´t know not so good graphics cards anymore.
Counterstrikes Smoke grenades were killing the fillrate and the framerate dropped in half at the time.
The light fog effects are not comparable to a screen filling multilayered smoke effect.

Counterstrike was made on source, Dead by Daylight is made on unreal engine 3, one is more optimized

Yeah I read it and I stand by my point, the prerequisite of chase time doesn't work in my opinion, it doesn't flow like it should

super cool concept I wish the devs were more creative like this same old same playstyles since 2016 lol

addon The Bong bomb. Survivor takes a hit off the bomb like a Bong and gains blood points x %25.(patch notes:The Ghost Face can now take puffs with survivors wazzzzup).

Clown bottles.

I love this reply so much and it's true! smoke simulations are not as taxing on graphics cards as much as people think they are, the more intensive things are actually cloth simulations and collisions. also water sims so there's that fun fact

Yeah we already have fog in game and clown bottles do the same so i see no reason why this couldn't be a thing.
