Blaming DC'ers is stupid
I used to blame Dc'ers. When I played in Swf's, I would instantly stop talking to a teammate if they ever quit mid-match and remove them as a friend. They would complain that the game was now too killer-sided with the new update and I would just pass this off as whining and bad sportsmanship.
Problem is, survivors are DC'ing for a reason. The latest update was hard on survivors. It actively sought to make the game more boring for them by increasing generator time.
It doesn't make sense to blame people for not doing generators when generator time has increased. It doesn't make sense to blame solo queue teammates when survivor perks have been nerfed. It doesn't make sense to blame people for quitting when the game has become completely unplayable and not fun at all for them.
EDIT:
I have listened to a lot of people's responses and there are a few things which demand clarification. I'm not saying that it doesn't suck when a DC happens in a game, obviously. I'm saying that if you want to prevent it from happening, you won't get anywhere by blaming the symptom and not treating the cause. The cause is apparently this update, given how much people are talking about an increase of DC's.
Second, I am not necessarily talking about winning or losing as a reason for DC'ing in a game. Levels of enjoyment don't necessarily depend on winning or losing, although winning obviously helps. It cannot be said that the increase in generator times has done anything to increase levels of survivor enjoyment, given they are undeniably the most tedious task of the game.

Survivors are not d/cing for any valid reason.
Just play the game out.
39 -
No, it's the right thing.
If you don't enjoy the role you play at all and you know you will want want to DC if you see anything slightly againts your way no metter what then why bother playing? DC is ruining the games. Makes other people stop playing as well. Stop supporting them.
25 -
How do you know? have you asked? Because I asked why the people in my swf did it, and I was told the following:
a) the game has become too killer sided
b) I just keep dying like 10 times in a row, and I'm not sitting around for this
1 -
So let me get this straight, you're solution is to try and make things harder for people who are already having such a hard time in the game that they decide to up and quit. And this will somehow lessen the amount of DC's. yeah right, good luck with that.
0 -
Just don't play if you don't enjoy the role. Why is it so hard to understand? Don't like the game? Go play something else and stop ruining other people games. Simple.
24 -
If you truly believe the game is too killer sided, then you are simply not that good at the game.
Then just go play a different game. Stop being a person who d/cs because they don't want to improve at the game they are playing.
14 -
And why don't people enjoy the role? Might it not have something to do with the fact that the latest update made the game worse for survivors? The game took the most boring part and amplified it?
1 -
See what i mean that is what attitude you people have here! It's disgusting. I don't DC. I just said i don't blame other people for DC'ing anymore, because the fault obviously lies with th4e developers
2 -
If Jake finds his way onto the ground 30 seconds into a game thanks to Bubba's chainsaw and instantly DC's, it is 100% correct to blame Jake. He didn't know any of Bubba's perks yet. He didn't know if Bubba was going to camp, tunnel or slug. He didn't give the match a chance for him to have fun and ruined it for everyone else.
12 -
You have/had pathetic friends
10 -
If Jake has lost 10 games in a row because the update was too killer sided, then plays a game, gets downed within 30 seconds and DC's, says 'to hell with this' and DC's, then it is also the developers fault for making the game too difficult for survivors.
What is so hard to understand about that
2 -
Wahhhhh the game got a bit less survivor sided, I'm out of here!!! I can't moonwalk and clicky clicky in the killer's face then E to the pallet anymore
7 -
I've been playing a lot of Solo queue as survivor before 6.1.0 and after that update. The Solo queue experience was terrible and it's even more terrible with all those instant DC or self-killing on hooks.
3 -
No.
If your friends DC whenever something doesn't go their way, they are pathetic and should uninstall the game, so they don't have to punish anyone else that plays with them
16 -
I agree. But to say the fault lies with the DC'ers will clearly not fix anything when the increase in DC's has come as a result of the killer sided update
1 -
The Developers are not forcing people to d/c. People who can't handle the game and give up without even trying are d/cing.
8 -
I wonder how long it takes until people realize that all the disconnects and suicides impact their mmr negatively.
Getting matched with teammates that have like 10 hours and 2 perks unlocked sure sounds like fun...
7 -
I agree with this post. Solo q is bullshit and there are reasons for the mass DCs.
2 -
Are you even reading? People are DC'ing because the game has become too difficult for survivors, and generator length is boring now. Why should i blame them when BHVR is the clear cause of these issues?
2 -
Forcing? No? Encouraging? Yes
3 -
You should blame them, because they're looking for reasons to DC, that aren't even correct.
Survivor is still the power-role, Survivors still have the advantage over every non-Nurse/Blight Killer. Generators are 10 seconds longer. If they're boring now, they were boring before the time increase.
Your friends are just bad and pathetic and should uninstall
10 -
If you are finding the game too difficult, you just weren't not that good to begin with.
The devs are not encouraging d/cing, because you get punished for doing so.
This topic just screams entitlement. You can no longer coast by on perks that were overtuned and are now crying about how the game is too hard and that somehow justifies you being able to d/c out of games.
8 -
Maybe because is not TOO DIFFICULT but just harder and they don't want to try?
There are more than enough people that play survivor and don't have a problem with the last patch just by playing like before.
8 -
That sounds like a skill issue.
9 -
I will never stop blaming DCers.
You clicked join. Play the game.
You wanna protest? Stop playing.
13 -
Right, so 6 different people, randomly met from different lfg groups are all the problem, and suspiciously at a time when the game updated to increase generator time etc. I'm supposed to think all of these completely different, separated people are all just garbage individuals? Um, no, I think the problem is with the game
0 -
Who cares about perks? I care about generator time, which is clearly the most boring part of the game which has been actively extended by the developers. Why should I blame people who DC when the game has been made more boring for them AND more difficult?
0 -
Nothing about the update made things more difficult as a solo survivor. 10s on a gen is laughably small, most killers waste that walking between two close gens or just carrying to a hook. There might be less Leisure Time after a hit or pallet, but the changes haven't prevented me from making it to anything I would have before. If the gripe is about bad teammates or having to shoulder all the progress, that's a problem with sbmm and not individual survivor balance.
I'm not blaming anyone if they don't want to play, that's fine, but don't join a lobby just to bail at start or your first mistake. Lots of excuses about lack of fun or "no chance" to play, yet I see very little personal accountability from dc'ers for mistakes leading up to those situations.
4 -
Yes, your 6 friends are bad at the game. They probably got boosted to a higher MMR than they actually deserved due to overpowered Perks (probably DH, maybe DS/UB).
If you continue on blaming the game, you'll never actually get good, tho I doubt you'd get good even if you stopped complaining
8 -
Ugh, I can't hear this anymore. Justifying DCing. Really?
8 -
Everyone keeps focussing on difficulty but what about enjoyment? Is it really enjoyable to watch a progression bar creep upward for 90 seconds? What's next, 100 seconds?
1 -
You really have this 'get good or go home' attitude so bad that you can't even see what I'm saying.
And again, I don't care about perks, I care about generator times being extended. Generator times were never fun, and countless other things could have been changed to balance the game, but instead bhvr decides to take the most gruelling, boring and tedious part of the game and extend it.
No, I won't blame my friends. I won't blame people who are fed up with the game and DC
0 -
I'm obviously not saying DC'ing is good. I'm saying it seems stupid to blame individual behaviour for something which seems clearly to have been caused systemically by a major game update.
0 -
Game has finally become more balanced since survivors cannot abuse 2 perks that completely broke endgame in this game...these 2 being DS and DH...
DCING and leaving your teammates to struggle just because you arent having fun is 100% your fault, not anyone elses. Play the game to the end, give your teammates a chance of winning or at least collecting some bloodpoints and stop babyraging at the hooks when you can't win every single one of your games.
8 -
Again, I don't care about PERKS! The generator time is now too long! The most boring, gruelling and tedious part of the game has been EXTENDED!
2 -
Of this 10 games the Jake lost, how many were lost bc someother DC'ed or gave up on the hook? Bc when Jake does that now, he's dooming the other three survivors as well! When you say it is cool for Jake to DC, you also say it is cool for the remaining ones to have a miserable game after that.
Games being harder bc killers got buffed is just one side of the equation. Esp. for solo Q, half of the games you lose you do so bc your mates DC, give up or mess up badly. That's got NOTHING to do with killer getting buffed with the patch!
3 -
10 seconds ...its whooping 10 seconds... get yourself a deja vu or something to speed up the gens and stop making excuses.
If you are that unhappy about 10 seconds play something else or try playing killer for few months..you'll notice that 10 seconds doesnt really do much with survivors that actually know how to play this game.
5 -
And why did the people Jake were playing with give up? Can't you see the chicken or the egg situation you're in here? All roads lead back to the game being made more difficult and tedious for survivors.
0 -
Then why don't you give up every single perk that has an effect that lasts less than 10 seconds, seemings as its so useless. Oh wait, most perks have effects which last for 2–4 seconds. 10 seconds is obviously not a trivial amount of time in this game, and you're blind if you think that it is. Especially multiplied by 5 and then add some for regression and for the superfluos generators on the map.
Not to mention generators are clearly the most boring, tedious and gruelling part of the game. If anything should have been changed it should NOT have been an increase to generator time
2 -
it is normal for people to dc when there are only tunnels and camps, soloq just so boring right now
4 -
Why would anyone sane queue up for a game that's "completely unplayable and not fun at all for them" and then DC?
4 -
Take a break then. If you are having that hard time having fun in this game find something else to play. I'm still having fun as a survivor and im having fun learning new perks and not relying on E and endgame DS escapes. I even play perkless sometimes and shocking i have escaped :D
7 -
Good question
0 -
No I want a god damned refund but I was told I'm not allowed one
0 -
At the end of the day anyone can dc if they want to and if they want to suffer the consequences (i.e. timer penalty)
Do they need to give anyone an explanation or an apology? No.
In the broader scheme of things though, it is very apparent that the patch brought the worst out of both sides. Those that now that BHVR is holding their hand will still play in their old ways (scummy) and those that refuse to play the game out because of how some of these effects have trickled down.
This was expected.
2 -
Just because the difficulty got cranked up, doesn't justify DC'ing. We call that 'skill issue' or 'failure to adapt'.
Ultimately the player is at fault, but you can't even pin 30% of the blame on BHVR for making the game difficult when 'we' the players made them make this decision, because killers were underperforming, and both sides metas were either stale or too powerful for a 4v1 game
2 -
I really really can't understand everyone's attitude thinking that this is all about winning or losing. It's also about enjoyment. It's simply not enjoyable to sit in front of a generator and watch a progression bar creep up for an entire minute and a half. Why in gods name would the developers have wanted to make that even worse for survivors?
2 -
There' not just difficulty, winning and losing though. There's also enjoyment! Generators are clearly the least enjoyable, most tedious part of the game. Bhvr decided to extend that! WHY!?!?
If people quit, maybe its just because the developers decided to make the game less fun. It's not all about egos being hurt and losses, although that clearly factors into it, but it's also about making a nice experience for gamers. By increasing the generator time the only conclusion i can come to is that BHVR doesn't care about survivors
2 -
I think it depends... I honestly don't understand when someone DC's after a (fast) first down. I do understand the urge to disconnect, but in past I had plenty of games where I went down within a minute, but escaped in the end. I also understand the urge to disconnect when you face a certain killer (looking at you Pinhead), but that's just bad luck and no reason for a DC.
NOW... what I DO understand is when you get hooked and no one bothers to come to get you, maybe being busy self caring for 100 years at the very corner of the map while the others are just standing around, doing nothing. Why give them extra more time? I also understand a DC during a slug fest with knockout. This is even worse than tunneling imo.
But saying the game is too killer sided and that's why someone DC's... why even load in into a match just to disconnect within the next minute? It sounds like they intended to DC.
3 -
SO because you can't get a refund, you've decided you want to justify d/cing.
You paid for a game, you played it, and now you aren't feeling the game anymore. That happens. There's plently of games I've brought that I just stopped playing and I never once thought I deserved a refund because I decided I was done playing a game I had purchased.
