Linked Cosmetics Are The Worst.

Well, actually, let me phrase that better. It sucks that cosmetics get linked together and you cannot use them separately. With character examples, such as Jonathan Byers, I can understand them being linked. But for original characters, there are so many linked cosmetics that could fit normally but are just made linked cosmetics for seemingly no reason.

Two of my favorite hair types for Nea and locked behind linked outfits (Undaunted Teenager and Stockholm Art Fest), and here is the thing, you can use these cosmetics unlinked using a glitch and they look really good ingame. I just really wish I could use them on Nea without having to do a glitch. It just sucks man, I hate it.

Eventually I'd like them to go back and mess with most of their original sets so they can break them without clipping issues aswell as certain licensed ones like Cheryl's rares as Komani said that it was up to BHVR if they wanted to keep those as sets. I also think they could just do partial sets where only two parts of the cosmetics are linked.

linked cosmetics are good in concept because some skins just don't work in individual pieces, but a lot are linked for seemingly no reason other than money. afaik we still have no solid statement from bhvr as to whether licenseholders are the ones determining whether certain outfits are linked or not. none of cheryl's non-legendary sets clip in individual pieces, same deal with jill's full priced set with a default piece (which is an outright scam as far as i'm concerned) and leon's re4 outfit. even then there are original sets that don't clip as well.

    I simply don't buy them.

If you know how to do the cosmetics glitch, it's pretty obvious why set pieces are locked together. They tend to have "seams" where you can see straight through your character model if you swap out certain bits and pieces, especially around the waist and neck. They aren't designed to be mixed and matched.

Even if it was linked "for money" there's no reason you wouldn't be able to mix-and-match after buying the entire set.

Typically because the models arent suppose to be seen from certain angles (mainly hooded cosmetics have this as far as Im aware). But that literally comes down to them designing stuff with them being linked in mind, but in a situation where BHVR didnt take the lazy route out when modeling a character, then it would vary well be unjustifiable, since there are always exceptions to that.

All of it literally comes down to rather or not BHVR put in the effort to full model a character... I mean, look at Legion, they have a full modeled face yet you never really see it... so sometimes they put in the effort when it isnt "needed".

(Also to be fair, a lot of characters are bugged and still have seams on them despite being plainly visible, some Nea and Jeff cosmetics have seams along their arms plainly visible.)

Exactly. If its about money, then force people to buy entire set but let them mix pieces after they buy it. Some survivors have dress that makes no sense to be broken, however head pieces should still be optional to use on other mix at least

It's 100% the license holder who have the final say in the matter if their character's cosmetics are linked or not, doesn't matter the rarity of the cosmetic.

Can you imagine the backlash if they made this ?

like… maybe not you but pretty much everyone else would have complain how they are forced to buy cosmetic pieces they don’t want to use - and rightfully so.
