Dead Hard should deactivate for the rest of the trial if used successfully, and also get buffed

Dead hard should deactivate for the rest of the trial if it is used successfully. It could then be buffed so that it could be used even if the survivor is exhausted or in deep wounds.

I'm constantly needing to deal with dead hard, even though we were supposed to have had a meta shakeup, and limiting dead hard to one successful use per trial, like decisive strike, is a fair solution. And allowing this reworked dead hard to be usable while exhausted or in deep wounds allows it to combo better with other second chance perks.

Yes. Being able to use dead hard while in deep wounds or exhausted means you can combo it with things like Off the record. It also means killers can't just hit people immediately after being unhooked, so they are stuck in deep wounds and can't dead hard.

Perks can get a nerf and a buff applied to them in the same patch.

    No, DH is fine now.

With current killers playstyle every other match - camp/tunnel meta - that would be a hard NO.

Dead Hard encourages tunneling. Why commit to a chase on someone else when they have a third health state and the guy who just got unhooked has two, tops (With Off the Record)?

Dead Hard is overused in high MMR and enables the same interaction of "being safe while greeding", with the payoff of it's activation being stronger than old DH. DH also has passive deterrence of discouraging killers from lunging at pallets/windows because it's just easy DH bait, giving survivors even more distance than old DH because swinging at new DH is MORE deleterious to the killer than before.

The passive deterrence of new DH is even greater than old DH. Survivors will twirl into you, attempting to bait out a hit, you wait out their twirl, they do it again, you wait again, they do it once more, you swing, strike their DH, they sprint burst off to the next tile and are safe again. Dead Hard can reliably be used against Huntress, Trickster, Oni, Billy, Bubba, Nurse, Blight, Plague, Pyramid Head, Nemesis, Twins, Wesker, etc.

It's also the "obvious choice" perk for exhaustion perks now. Sprint Burst/Lithe/Balanced are all great, fantastic, even. But they're not as good as DH. And if you're a skilled survivor, it's obvious which one you'll take. When I get the "4-man sweat squads" that are pub-stomping, they're all bringing Dead Hard.

DH doesnt cause tunneling. The only thing that causes tunneling is the lack of a proper anti-tunnel system.

If the Killer is going to tunnel, it doesnt matter how many perks you throw in the way, they are going to tunnel. If they actively want to take you out of the game, they are going to do everything they can do it. The Survivor being unhooked for could 4 health states while the Survivor unhooking is Exposed, and some players will still actively go for the Survivor being unhooked.

Because tunneling (deprived from "tunnel vision") by definition means to solely focusing a player and until they either quit or you remove them from the game; this means actively ignoring all other players, even if they actively get in your way. "Tunneling" as a term has been distorted, twisted, and heavily misused over the years by players that seek to find means of harassing and attacking others, it's actually kind of annoying.

The new dead hard encourages tunneling, because if you hit someone right after they get unhooked, they get deep wounds, and can't use dead hard. And dead hard is so awful to deal with, that being able to bypass it is huge for many of the M2 killers.

Killers tunnel because it is easy and efficient. DH has nothing to do with it.

This is downright a nerf lol

Until you ask yourself WHY it's easy and efficient. Because a freshly-unhooked survivor only has two health states at the most, and everyone else has a maximum of 3.

reason why the perk must not be nerfed instead even buffed so we encourage fairer gameplay like old DS did, killers slugged fearing DS killers should fear tunneling or not fearing it but punished greatly for it. tunnelign is easy and uninteractive for the survivor because the game is not balanced for 1 surv to take that hard tunel, u are not strogn enough to do it, its a 4v1, and killers want to make it 1 v 1 this way and we all know who has the advantage that way.

Well, if you want Killers to not tunnel, Dead Hard isn't the perk for the job. As I said, if anything, it encourages tunneling, because switching targets means having to go through three health states as opposed to two.

u are not sugesting anything at all or added anything to my responde people use this perk because of the tunnel so u last more because killers WERE GONNA TUNNEL REGARDLESS, so killers know there is a MASSIVE REWARD in tunneling someone out so they will do it even if u delete DS, DH, OFF THE RECORD, u know heaven paradise for killers do u think they would change thier gameplay? OF COURSE NOT in fact they would tunnel even more because its now even easier u are not understanding how things work. tunneling is easy for killers especially in certain maps, and we are flooded with Antilioop killers today so its even easier ever been... tehre is a reason why people bring these perks otherwise survivors would bring other things but they wont because of this VERY REASON and in fact we are expericing the greatest numbers of tunneling ever since last update why? because its easier SO THERE U HAVE IT. anti tunneling perks are weaker now, off the record oesnt even work if u get hit during BT time and DS is 2 seconds on top of that DH doesnt work cause u are in mending state so u have to use 3 anti tunneling perks cause DS negates mending so u can use DH, so basically 75% to 100% of your build to be able to play the game due actual meta, is disgusting and most people dont bring that much at all to the game, and even then is not enough cause off the record wont help. so now is easier reason why killers tunnel more and thats the proof to my comment, actual games and personal experience.

I think DS and Off the Record actually do discourage tunneling, it's only Dead Hard I take issue with. Because again, if all 4 survivors are running it, that gives the Killer an enormous incentive not to switch targets.

Perks like Sprint Burst and Lithe actually would discourage tunneling a lot more, because combined with Off the Record, you not only have a second health state but gain a huge amount of distance on the Killer after being unhooked.

i think dead hard is aaight, and thats kinda what i assume they intended in the whole 'meta shakeup' thing. with the point youre going for, i think honestly it wouldnt be much different to ask for a new perk that does the same kind of thing as dead hard, but a little different.

Lets make Eruption disable if its triggers a single time. Or disable every exposed perk if you get a successful down with any exposed perk.

Yea no, this is just a bad idea.

  • Halloulle
    Halloulle Member Posts: 1,334

Actually, yeah. - I'd be up for the trade: Eruption can only be triggered once per gen and in exchange once DH was used successfully it deactivates for the rest of the trial. (Tbh. Overcome/Lucky Break+Mettle sounds like it could be fun - especially if more than one person per trial is running it 😬)

Generally speaking that is a really bad way to balance games. You shouldn't be trying to "trade" one thing for another.

Answer to WHY - because taking out one survivor early in the game gives a massive map pressure. Paired with slowdown perks even an average killer can guarantee 3-4k.

All exhaustion perks are op though dead hard is the worst offender. The exhaustion cooldown should be doubled from 40-80 secs.
