The truth doesn’t hide. It waits.

A new Killer, The Veritus, a new Survivor, Dr. Elowen Mira, and a new Map, The Ruins of the Mysterious Observatory, have been added to Dead by Daylight.

This Chapter peers into the fragile veil of perception, where what is seen cannot be unseen — and what is hidden can never again be trusted. When the search for truth breaks through the boundaries of reality, the consequences echo beyond comprehension.

Killer: "The Veritus" (previously The Unknown, but bhvr already released such named killer)

Bio:

They found it by accident.
Not by coincidence — for nothing truly happens by coincidence — but by negligence.

A researcher had reported a series of perceptual disturbances in the ruins of an old observatory somewhere in Northern Europe. The walls had no direction, and sounds echoed off the very air. Shadows fell against the light, and thoughts no longer seemed to belong to the observer. After three days, her transmissions ceased.

When the rescue team arrived, they found two things:

A mirror.
And a recording — the researcher staring at something the camera couldn’t capture — her pupils dilated, breath shallow, voice dropping to a whisper:

“It knows when you’re looking… and sees, even if you don’t…”

At the end of the tape, the screen flared — and then there was silence.

Research at the observatory was suspended indefinitely, though locals spoke of small groups visiting the ruins when the fog rolled in.
Some say it was born from a researcher who wanted to know the truth.
Some say it was because of the Fog.
Others say… both.

Yet no one knows the truth — only Veritas in Veritus.
Because Veritas is the truth.

And truth is dangerous.
Revealing what is hidden may change everything.

When the existence of something that can reveal all truth became undeniable, the Fog could do only one thing — entangle it, and lock it in a cage, so that the truth could never see the light.
Because what would happen if the Fog became transparent…
and the Entity had a name?

It has no language.
No culture.
No face.

It does not hunt.
It simply is.

It watches, even when you cannot.
It wants to be seen — but it won’t allow it.
It wants you to try.

And when you finally do see it…
it’s already too late.

Killer with 0 terror radius, 90% speed
Power: Revel & Revile (alternatively "Revel and Recoil" or "Reveal and Revile")
Revel: Whenever survivors aura is revealed, the mirror is being created 2m from the survivor between them and the Veritus (mirror is moving with survivor and the Veritus - always 2m, always directly between). Mirror is fully created after 2s (cooldown 10s; delay 30s, or 3 aura reading instances). When mirror is fully formed the Veritus can use active power button facing targeted survivor and can teleport to formed mirror with short (0,2s) animation, while previous image of the Veritus is shattered. Using power destroys all active and forming mirrors. Mirrors persist for 2 seconds after the Survivor’s aura disappears.

*- mirror can "reflect" only targeted survivor and nothing else, with additional feature of having weird, unsettling eyes.

Revile:
- Looking at the killer is impossible, whenever survivor look at the Veritus, whole Veritus body blures, so its impossible to see its face, and details.
- Looking at it for more than 1s blures vision of survivor.
- Between 1 and 3 seconds, survivor vision is gradually looses focus, starting from edges of screen. After 3s survivor become fully blinded. Effect resets immediately after 0,2s of not looking at the Veritus.
- Not looking at the Veritus while in the chase: hinders survivor by 5%, If surv is not looking at the Veritus for 2s each 4s interval, it prevents survivor from vaulting and dropping palettes, grants killer 10% haste, and revealing their aura to the Veritus untill they look at it for 2s.

Weapon: when attacking, the Veritus is rising its "arm" and thick black fog is hurting survivor.

Perks:

False presence:

while outside terror radius, survivors hear sounds related to killer (terror radius music, power, attack sounds etc.)

Fractured Gaze:

Whenever survivor is reviling Your aura, their action speeds (totems cleansing/blessing, healing, gen repairing, gates opening) are reduced.

Ritual of Oblivion (potentially hex perk):

Survivors outside Your terror radius suffer from oblivious status effect (can't hear terror radius). This effect linger for 1s for each X consecutive seconds outside terror radius (maybe with some cap). While effect is active, any noisy action (fast vault, pallet drop, etc) reveal survivor aura for 2 seconds.

Killer Mori:

The Veritus begins the animation over the downed survivor. His body shatters into millions of fragments, which swirl around the survivor, forming a circle of countless mirrors.

The survivor slowly rises, eyes darting around in panic, uncertain from which mirror The Veritus might re-emerge.

The camera zooms in on the survivor staring into one of the mirrors. In his eye, we see the mirror's reflection — and within it, a twisted version of himself, wearing a grotesque grin and wild, unhinged eyes.

The camera pulls back as the remaining mirrors dissolve into shimmering dust. The survivor’s eyes cloud over, turning ghostly white.

Drawn like a moth to flame, the survivor steps toward the mirror and passes through it. The moment he vanishes, the mirror shatters into shards that swirl together, reforming into The Veritus.

The survivor’s lifeless body remains where it first fell. It’s impossible to tell what was real, what was illusion — or at what point he truly died.

Survivor: Dr. Elowen Mira
Occupation: Neurocognitivist, researcher of visual memory and perception
Age: 34
Origin: Cambridge, United Kingdom
Overview: “She saw what others couldn’t. And for that, she never knew peace again.”

Bio:

Dr. Elowen Mira dedicated her life to studying the limits of perception. Her groundbreaking work on the “Mind’s Eye” — the concept of stimulus-free vision — drew attention from both the scientific community and… less official circles. Among them were members of the Black Veil, posing as grant providers and mentors.

As part of a field study, she was invited to participate in an experiment involving perceptual data reading within a ruined observatory. Her task was to interpret strange images that only appeared after watching strange mirror and under certain light frequencies… At first, they were just shadows. Then lines. Then shapes. And finally… eyes.

Elowen began to see them even with her eyes closed.
She saw them in glass reflections.
She saw them in her dreams.
Until, eventually, she couldn’t see anything else.

One night, she was found in her lab, seated before the same mirror. Her eyelids were sewn shut. A message was scrawled on the wall in crimson:

“Sight is an illusion. Now I see the truth.”

She screamed that she could see—clearer than ever, clearer than anyone else—whenever the fog came.

She vanished from the locked room overnight. The door had not been disturbed. The mirror… vanished with her. Witnesses claimed to see a thick, black fog seeping from under the door.

One way Mirror:

Your mind captures images even your eyes cannot see.

After repairing a generator for 40%, you gain 1 token, up to a maximum of 5.

You may consume a token at any time near a pallet spawn location (with standing or broken, or without a pallet).

When the Killer is within 1 meter of the marked location, their aura is revealed to all Survivors (or: the sound is generated, and marked spot shows it's aura (not killer) to all survivors).

Extrasensory Perception:

You feel the presence of hidden forces, guiding you toward clarity.

After cleansing a totem, you permanently see the aura of another random totem.

After blessing a totem, you permanently see the aura of that totem.

Veritaserum:

The truth always leaves a trace.

After repairing a generator for 40%, you may apply Veritaserum to it.

When the Killer kicks the affected generator, they are splashed with the serum.

The next 30 meters of their movement path become visible to all Survivors as a glowing trail for the rest of the trial. (The Killer is not revealed. Only this 30m from gen is visible, nothing else, this can be useful to guess killer patrol route but nothing else).

Map: The Ruins of the Mysterious Observatory

Style: Post-gothic, abandoned complex atop a hill, shattered telescope dome, crumbling pillars, rusted optical mirrors, everywhere broken glass and strange, geometric sculptures that seem to shift shape when looked at

Environmental effects:

Slightly distorted camera view when moving (like through an old VHS tape),

Sounds delayed or disjointed (e.g., footsteps heard half a second after they’re made),

Random echoes of survivors voices saying things like “...can you see it?” or “...look away—LOOK AWAY!”

Central feature of the map:
A room with a shattered mirror at the center. Or... perhaps, it’s not shattered at all?

    'Hmpf, Nothing personel kid'

*teleports behind you and stabs you*

Maybe not directly, some distance, maybe 1-2m longer than his lunge. His downside is his speed, so cautious and aware survs would potentially escape without even one stab.

Refreshing idea since BHVR is releasing killer with exact same name tho i think my idea better fits this name :P

This one name could be changed to:

    • Zero
    • The Observer
    • Unobservable
    • The Void
    • The Parasite
    • The Halucination
    • The No
