Ways to fix BHVRS monetization

You’ve probably seen MintSkulls video on how this game is extremely bad for new players and it’s monetization.

to sum it up he explains how it’s pretty much pay 2 win cause the best meta perks are locked behind paywalls and it simply takes forever to unlock everyone and get the best perks without paying. To throw my 2 cents in here’s 3 changes that should be implemented to fix this

- Make 2 shrine of secrets have one for killer and one for survivor. 4 perks for killer and 4 for survivor. This would make it so if you play one side you don’t have to wait all the time you have a shrine for a dedicated playerbase. I would also reduce the cost to make it casual friendly reduce the price of shards from 2000, 4000, 6000 to 1000, 2000, 3000 so that way it’s easier to get the teachable perks without having to grind so much.

-Make it so from the start all non teachable perks are unlocked at tier 1 on all killers and survivors. This would make it so you can try different builds cause you have a sample of perks already unlocked to try out. You won’t have to sink hours just to try other perks you have a sample to use.

-Last one is sadly a suggestion we can’t do. Make the game Free to play. MintSkull made comparisons to Fortnite, Fall guys, Overwatch 2 and explained how you didn’t need to pay just to play the game you can play without spending a penny. Dbd can easily just be made free to play but we can’t cause this game could so easily be taken over by hackers.

those are the 3 things I would do. What would you do to fix the grind and monetization without reworking the game to much?

3500 hrs seems a bit much - I got roughly half those hours and if I hadn't spent excessive amounts of shards on cosmetics all characters you can buy for shards would be unlocked and brought to P3. I think the time estimate forgets about events (log-in & double exp), codes and sales.

That being said, 1.7k hours is still a lot.

The real issue is several essential perks being locked behind franchise DLCs. - These need to be unlockable via shards way easier, otherwise bringing viable builds is very much a pay-to-play kinda thing.

Imo, the easiest way to fix it, especially the catch up, is to split the shrine in original chapters and franchise chapters. That way the franchise perks would show up within a reasonable timespan. - And as for the shards: give new players 1-2k each day they log in for the first thirty days they play. That's gonna bring them back and set them up with 3-7 new characters just from logging in.

That suggestion doesn’t sound bad. I suggested something close to that with the shrine being a killer and survivor one so you get more perks to buy so that’s 8 perks total you can get.

Considering a lot of perks are trash, I doubt 3k hours is needed to get 4 good perks. Even if you have to get them from 4 different characters. Hell I had every character at P3 with the old system with that many hours.

Yeah I agree re 3k hours. I only play Demogorgon, and more recently Wraith, when I play killer and literally all my extra perks are ones I've bought from the Shrine. I have nowhere near 3k hours in this game and I'm doing okay perk wise.

I've said itany times and I'd say it again. Makes all perks free in the bloodweb. That pretty much fixes it.

The problem is that you can play survivor just fine for free.

Killer requires you have the appropriate slowdown perks. You may also require very specific perks for whichever chassis you are using.

Killer needs 6-10 DLC's on average as a bare minimum to have a decent perk selection.

Also I hate to say but his grind estimate is just dumb. Back in 2016 I had a friend that needed 116 levels to get Iron Will level 3 on jake. This was because way back when you got 1 perk from an "end tier" web. It was also due to a bug that made all the pink perks appear in your web first (for those of you that remember pink purple and green tier perks).

By the time I get a new survivor to prestige level 2 I have all the perks. A new player would likely still have everything before level 3 prestige even if every other character was unlocked but not leveled.

Also I hate to be that guy but survivors are skins. You do not need to level them all especially if they have stupid meme perks.

The stronger killers do not require slowdown perks to do well with. It's mostly just the weak ones who have to patch together their lack of chase power/map pressure who need them if they aren't willing to win through tunneling.

I straight up bring memey builds all the time as killer because good builds just aren't necessary to win the overwhelming majority of games.

Yeah, survivor perks aren't as impactful, but you'd expect that to be the case when they have 16 perks between them.

-"The stronger killers do not require slowdown perks to do well"

All the big name streamers I watch would largely seem to prove otherwise. When against efficient survivors you need strong perks.

Blight and Nurse are the best killers. There's no way you are going to tell me the best killers do better with meme perks vs strong perks.

"When against efficient survivors you need strong perks."

Yes, beating sweaty people will usually require being sweaty.

Efficient survivors are not going to be most of them with how this MMR system works though.

You don't see hens and gang going for their SWF winstreak bringing meme perks either, so this goes both ways.

Almost any time I log in to play DBD there is a 100% killer bonus in my region. Something like 95% of the players in my games are efficient when I play my highest ranked killer. Don't be telling me how my games play out when you're not in them.

Simply put DBD is not a fair game when one side plays efficiently. For survivor this is gen rushing and for killer it's tunneling.

Well yeah, dbd isn't, a lot of that needs to be tuned down.

I really don't get how that's happening for you with how the MMR system works though. It doesn't even happen to the killer main streamers I watch sometimes.
