option to ban certain killers in matchmaking?
I just hate going against the same 2 killers nurse and blight with full meta perks

No. It's been discussed a lot and it's a terrible idea.
24 -
No, you can't. Imagine killers could ban going against swfs.
That's not a good idea at all
13 -
Id love that, more variety in my games

This would completely break matchmaking.
You say that, but when people say 'I want to veto certain killers' what they actually mean is 'I want easier games'.

Trade offer:
You receive the ability to ban one killer.
I receive the ability to ban one perk.
Now we both can proceed to queue up for 60+ minutes without ever finding a decent match.
16 -
Well if the most matches you have is against Blights and Nurses maybe thats because a huge portion of the killer players play those two killers. Now imagine if everyone can say that they don't play against those two killers. Matchmaking would be a nightmare. Now both Blight and Nurse as well as most survivor players would have a terribly long queue because we all know that survivors will pick killers like Hillbilly, Demogorgon and Sadako because they are fun to go against or weak. Well guess what there are not that many hillbilly/Demogorgon/Sadako players to fill up all those queues thus this system would not work. I would get very quick queues when I play Billy but would have to wait like 15 minutes to find a match as Nurse.
5 -
I doubt you play against nurse and blight every match.
4 -
I do, I have no proof but I do, im a a slinger main if that helps :)

No. However, if both sides could ban 4 perks it would make the game healthier imo.
1 -
It’s just not believable. Every game? Nah. There are not that many blight & nurse players running around. And an even smaller number of them know how to actually play them well. Those are two killers that if you don’t know how to play them, you get smacked.
5 -
That would either break the system due to people who queue up and walk away, not paying attention to lobbies (how long before someone who doesn't fix their perks gets kicked? how many players will a lobby have to go through to get someone who won't get kicked or outright leave, meaning the other players are just sitting there in the lobby waiting? what happens when the fifth player shows up and they have acceptable perks equipped but the other players break the new player's bans?), or it'd break matchmaking because it would have to filter out players using those perks and every individual would have their own set of rules which could conflict with other players who match the first player's criteria and... oof, as nice as it'd be to just say no to four exhaustion perks when I want to play tier-1-no-add-ons Myers, I don't want to sit in a queue for two hours for a meme. Quicker to just let four Sprint Bursters do gens and leave, even if it happens three matches in a row.
2 -
Imagine wanting to play the character you enjoy, but your queue times are 15 minutes long cause nearly everyone has decided to ban that killer.
6 -
No. Get good.
4 -
That's why BHVR created more than one load out for each character. I don't use it because I don't see a usage for know, but if survivors could ban my perks I would have already prepared other loadouts so I don't have to re-do my build all over again in case 4 of my perks get banned.

Imagine if they balanced their cast of characters instead of leaving them overpowered for years.
Generally, I don't think they should ban anything, but it's obvious what killers, perks, and add-ons need nerfs/buffs.
0 -
No, I think it’s obvious what killers, perks, and addons need to be buffed.
3 -
Even if none of the loadouts share perks, since there are four survivors each loadout could contain a different perk that a survivor banned. Unless all four survivors have to agree on the same perk, which would either have to be done in-lobby as a poll (and no one ever agrees on anything in this game) or if the players choose it before queueing up then it would make matchmaking a horrible nightmare as there a very, very large number of perks in the game for it to have to find four survivors who all chose the same perk to ban.
Personally, I only have one perk loadout I use as both killer and survivor. For killer three of those perks are non-negotiable, I just wouldn't play at all if I couldn't use one of them. I assume there are other players who are like that, too.

If they did that certain killers like Nurse, Blight, Pinhead etc would have the longest queue times. Most people hate facing them.
0 -
I was being sarcastic but poes law always being there.

Not really no, such a system would probably worsen the queue time for more than half the killer roster.
Just read the usual "what killer do you hate/like/find annoying?" Threads. The go for 3+ pages and in the end 90% of all killer are nominated.
Nurse/blight obviously for their potential, doc/clown/plague/dredge for their power effects, trickster/legion/twins/artist/pinhead for their gameplay and a bunch of others that aren't as mainstream hated.
Being strong would be a fraction of the factors that lead to insanely long queue times.
Also, also how would swf or 4 solo handled by this system? Do swf ban 4 killer at once, do they get only one majority vote? What happens with a 2/2 split? How much will the filtering per ban increase queue times when the popularity spread doesn't match the population in a certain MMR range?
To sum it up, such a system would never work even partial satisfactory outside the "no nUrSe/BlIgHt" narrative.

dead hard, CoH, noed, and eruption will never be heard from again lol

Of course, it's easy to say that when you ignore or refuse to play the other side, mainly solo queue. It's also not surprising that this forum wants to circle-jerk anything that buffs killer.

Here is the thing, the way that I envisioned is to each survivor choose one perk to ban and the killer to choose 4. This would happen while in the lobby with 30+ seconds to choose a perk to ban, then you would have 60 seconds to adjust your loadout. It is this way in League of Legends, so I don't know why DbD couldn't do something similar. Just add a penalty to lobby dodge to avoid people from doing so and it should be good.
Believe, I'm the kinda of guy who doesn't live without my build of Eruption, Pain Resonance, Call of Brine and Franklin's Demise, but I would give up on them if this would mean not seeing Dead Hard, Off the Record, Circle of Healing and Prove Thyself ever again.
In all fairness, I think that it would make the game healthier if you could ban the most OP perks. It is a way to balance the game without the devs having to release patch after patch.

It's good idea if done right after match you should be able to decide if you don't want to face same killer again for next match. However after that you would not be able to decide it. It would add more variety and you would not have to face 4 blights a row.
0 -
you wouldn't have to face 4 blights or nurses in a row if the other killers were viable

Instead of trying to ban SWF make it fair.
Add the rule : No character/item/perk/offering repeats in a SWF.
Lock any changes other than costume.
Nerf Blight and Nurse so they aren't stupidly better than all the other killers. Then make the maps fair to all the "bad" killers.

Punishing people because they want to play with their friends will never happen. I don't understand why you keep posting this. It's a non-starter.
0 -
You don't understand one of the words you are using. Making SWF have the punishment equal to 4 stacks of Thanatophobia because they are in a SWF (that would also stack with other slowdowns like dying light or thanatophobia) is a punishment.
Tournament play has basically used this same idea for a long time. Why do they do it? Because DBD isn't a fair game otherwise.
Limiting large groups in this way is not punishment- it is a minor limitation. There are still multiple exhaustion perks for everyone to use. Punishment would be to say : your team can only use 2 exhaustion perks. Small 2 man SWF groups which are the majority of players would see almost no impact. Large 3/4 man groups would become weaker and that's exactly the point.
SWF should not be an automatic upgrade. It should be a choice that has a consequence that can be better or worse than solo queue.
0 -
Why should wanting to play a video game with your friends be a consequential choice? It's a fundamentally casual game. Your attitude is entirely divorced from reality and predicated on the belief that folks who queue together are constantly sweating. They're not. They're just trying to goof off with their friends most of the time and imposing artificial limitations on them gets in the way of that fun.
Like yeah it's a punishment. If I say hey I'm taking some choices away from you because you have the temerity to queue with other people, how does that not feel like you're being penalized for it? These mental gymnastics are ridiculous.
1 -
Not good ideas all around. Bring solo q up to SWF level, and bring all other killers up to nurse and blight level.
2 -
This is as stupid as expecting a way to avoid SWF.

What is the most simple way to balance DBD?
Remove the gap between SWF and solo play so that we can adress other root issues. What is the most simple way to make SWF worse and solo better? You nerf SWF.
People like you that want to use the "Friend" card to obstruct balance are the reason we can't have nice things.
You're also part of the reason why people only play Blight and Nurse at high MMR and then survivors bemoan why nobody ever plays the weak killers anymore.

Yes please do explain how we bring solo queue up to SWF levels. SWF gets virtual free information worth 10+ perks because they can talk.
Should solo players get +4 perk slots when they play alone. That would work just fine - remember though the killer always plays alone. I would love to play killer with 8 perk slots.
You just leave Nurse and Blight with 4 perk slots and give everyone else 8 slots.
What a great idea.

The problem is not that there is no such button, but that the nurse and Blight killers are unbalancedly strong and the developers see requests every day to nerf them or make a restriction for these killers, but unfortunately they do nothing about it. Look at the nurse on pbt, is it really a nerf? ahah they only improved the nurse by cutting the addons that newbies used but strengthened those addons that are used by people who at least played 5 games or more on the nurse and I better agree with this crazy idea about the button forbidding certain killers so how she's more real than waiting for the nurse and Blight nerf.

I think giving everyone an extra 4 slots is a bad idea. But making the auras of all teammates visible when someone is on hook is something that needs to be added for sure. Too many times in solo queue I've seen 2 or even 3 people come for an unhook.
0 -
So you want to give survivors another base kit perk. I think they already have plenty. Bring Kindred if you want to see auras.
0 -
So you're saying all survivors should waste a perk slot because they're playing with randoms? So you should be penalised for not playing in a swf when killers all complain about swf?
As for they have plenty already? What you mean that we have BT? Because that's doing a lot to help people isn't it.
Make your mind up either you want to see less people in swf or more.
1 -
Nurses are still rare and most other killers are viable but just not easy wins. Most blights just tunnel and camp at 5 gens and run strongest regression perks. Even he is designed to do opposite and chase multiple survivors. It does not matter to these players if killer is viable to win other way they just want fast easy wins. He gives you unfair advantage that's why people play him. Spirit is probably one of most balanced killers but with her it takes bit more work to win so no-one plays her.

Not slots, but built-in passives right in the description of the character
0 -
Swf don’t have to be penalized in game, but Killers could be informed in the lobby if they were matched against one.
Give Killers bp incentive if they play against swf.
0 -
a small passive built into the skin itself at 1-5%, this will not give a big advantage, but it will at least make some sense to choose characters. At the moment I only buy killers and not survivors as they are trash skins
