Skill checks when leaving gens
Would it be possible to let survivors do the normal skill check when leaving a gen, similar to how overcharge works.
Its really ######### to get hit with a penalty because of random bad luck with no fault of your own, and now potential energy got really hurt in the patch notes. A survivor can be loosing time, for an advantage that the killer can remove with just an M1, getting a random skill check when leaving the gen and loosing all of that progress is just the worst feeling possible.
Just make regular skill checks like the overcharge, so at least you give survivors a chance to not get destroyed by bad luck.
PLS

The effects should simply be swapped. Normal skill checks should work like current Overcharge and follow you around, while Overcharge should autofail if you gen tap. Simple change and the code already exists.
Probably, too logical, though. We should nerf Potential Energy instead. And Pig, of course.

To stop the skill check when leaving gens, don't sprint off the gen, just go off it like normal.

what on earth do you mean by this? what is "going off a gen like normal" and how does it differ from "sprinting off the gen"?
do you think that last-second skill checks like, retroactively go back in time and blow up your gen if you press the shift key within a certain time frame of leaving the gen? that's the only thing i can possibly imagine you mean, but I also know you're not saying that because that would be ridiculous. please clarify what you mean

I don't even know if you are trolling or giving genuine advice. So i will just say that it doesn't work like that and move on

I always seem to get a skill check when the killer pressures me off a gen.

it happens in both circumstances. Otzdarva made a video on this, although him claiming that these type of skillchecks only appear at around 7% is hillarious. It happens a lot more often, and it frustrates me every single time.
Want to heal a teammate? Sure, boom, now the killer will come while we heal!

2 days ago playing with friends. Killer comes to 97% gen. Both need to let go. Both get impossible skillchecks. Now gen is 77%. At the same game the same generator exploded by this random skillcheck once more. It definitely feels like way more then 7%

So I play on console. I noticed a few days after the gen changes to 90s patch that because I had "auto sprint" on by default from the options menu, if I held L1 (My sprint button) to get off a gen, the gen would blow up like 90% of the time. So I looked for a solution to stop it cause it was really annoying me at the time, I then realised that if I just pressed Square (the same button to get onto the gen and where your animation is walking off the gen) it would never blow up.
Hope I cleared up any confusion for anyone.

No idea who Ortzdarva is, and I'm not too sure on how it's happening on PC but that's how I'm circumventing it on Console, works 100% of the time.

Na not here to troll or joke around, it does work just check out my comment ^, hopefully you understand it better.

Interesting. that's either a bug or an unfortunate coincidence then, because that's not supposed to be a feature (and I've certainly never noticed anything like that before)

I had a game earlier on Coal Tower where THREE times I had this happen lol and I was only stopping momentarily to avoid PR, which the killer didn't even have as i saw in endgame. If it's 7% then i had the worst luck. I did wonder if the killer had to double check to make sure he hadn't equipped PR since he kept getting explosions upon hooking lol

Potential Energy is the worst perk that does nothing and only makes it worse. You do not give progress to the generator, you spend 30 seconds on this nonsense, as a result, you get a killer hit on health / miss on the skill check, as a result, you lost all the time / progress / nerves. If he multiplied the progress received by 2 times, then the risk would be justified, and since the perk is rubbish or charged in parallel with the repair, then this was at least somehow attractive. For this reason, I will not even buy this hero even now his book.

I saw now your comment, that is interesting, i don't know if its a bug or even if it's real. But i still would prefer some actual solution from the devs. Especially when there is already a system in place that could fix the issue.

TBF his fogwise is good perk (there are better perks, but this one is still on a good side). Just forget about potential energy. That perk is indeed absolutely hopelessly bad

I would argue that 7% is not a small chance at all, especially when that applies to 4 people independently.
Also, default skill check chance is what? 8% ? That means you have essentially the same chance of getting an impossibile skill check when leaving as you do getting a nomal one when you stay on repair. Now, think about how many of those you get and the picture becomes clearer.
That's very interesting. Thanks for sharing. Although, I'm not entirely sure I understand. Do you have that option enabled that you press the repair button to get on the gen and then you don't have to hold it down to repair? (I forget how it's called in the menu, action toggle or something).
So, essentially, if you just press the repair button again you leave the gen preventing the skill check. Is that what you meant?

it's the feeling that you lost the game because of just bad luck. Makes you feel terrible. And it's not like say sabotage taking away hook from you - which feels bad but it feels good for the other side. These random skillchecks are something the other side does not even know about (there's no way to distinguish it from survivor just failing) + there's nothing killer can do about them (does not bring you sense of accomplishment). For these reasons, I feel it's kind of stupid it's still in a game.
If it was more consistent - say you get them always when touching gen mid chase (ideally with possibility to counter it if you can spare a single second staying on a gen), that would bring sense of accomplishment for killer (sneaking up on survivors - earning that regression) and feel less bad for survivors (you were not screwed by something you had 0 control over and is based on pure luck only - you got outplayed).

Np, and yes I do have that setting on! Forgot all about it lol
