Dev Idea - New Killer Feature! (The "Killer Corrupt Time")

I think a massively fun idea to make a lot of different Killers really interesting to play would be to add one single, new feature to them; a built-in Corrupt Intervention on a case by case basis.

And so it would be that in each Killer’s profile page in the game, and in their Wiki page online as well, there would be this new line right there between “Killer Terror Radius” (size) and “Killer Speed” (110%, 115%, etc.). It is the “Killer Corrupt Time”.

This doesn’t just add fun to the Killers. This adds fun by also adding much needed balance to the game.

It's important to remember, this "Killer Corrupt Time" is on a case by case basis. This case by case decision process would be based on clear characteristics of each Killer.

(1) Number one, does the Killer have a Special Mobility speed? Does this contribute to essentially a Chase Power?

(2) Number two, does this Killer have an M2 power that adds a Chase Power of sorts? Or only M1?

(3) Number three, can this Killer start a match and just go at it? Or do they need time to set up any traps of sorts?

And so here is one example of a formula for the case by case basis already.

And that questionnaire could also be only 75% of the formula, powered by what you see on paper. And the remaining 25% is what real MMR data is telling you. And now here we are, at a standard formula applied equally to all Killers and with an end figure amount of time for their “Killer Corrupt Time”. (Of course, why wouldn’t we also update the “Killer Corrupt Time” appropriately every few months as well. We’ve done it with “Killer Terror Radius” before.)

So let’s take some examples of Killers.

Nurse - In our MMR data, she is surprisingly a mixed bag. However, in our example questionnaire which makes up 75% of the formula/decision process, she is answering massively in favor of a small or non built-in Corrupt Intervention. Our Questionnaire asked about these three things: 1) Special Mobility? Check. 2) Chase Power through M2 or Mobility? Check. 3) Doesn’t need to take time to set traps of sorts? Check.

End decision: Nurse has 0 Seconds of built-in Corrupt Intervention.

Trapper - In our MMR data, he trash. Lol. However, in our example questionnaire.. nope, he also trash. Lol. Our Questionnaire asked about these three things: 1) Special Mobility? None. 2) Chase Power through M2 or Mobility? None. 3) Doesn’t need to take time to set traps of sorts? No, he does need time to set traps, in fact he has no other features besides this.

End decision: Trapper has 60 Seconds of built-in Corrupt Intervention.

Note: On paper and in practice, Trapper is still powerful in basements and some hook defenses. It may be suggestible to make Dead Hard work over traps again, or allow just un-hooked Survivors a 10 second immunity to Traps. Or it could be a decision point to reduce his "Killer Corrupt Time".

Demogorgon - In our MMR data, Demo is in the thick of the pack which is a nice spot. Maybe even a little higher. Next, our Questionnaire asked about these three things: 1) Special Mobility? Yes, through Portals. 2) Chase Power through M2 or Mobility? Yes, a M2 Shred Lunge. 3) Doesn’t need to take time to set traps of sorts? No, he does need time to set Portals, which locks his Special Mobility until then as well. (I am probably missing a Question around “Does this Killer have any Slowdown in the Match?” but you get the general idea by now.)

End decision: When looking at all factors, Demogorgon has 15 seconds of built-in Corrupt Intervention. (Was I too harsh? I was very close to picking 20 seconds instead.)

The Ghost Face - In our MMR data, Ghostface is below average. Not by very much at all, but still so. Next, our Questionnaire asked about these three things: 1) Special Mobility? None. 2) Chase Power through M2 or Mobility? None, (but a small notice that his Exposed Ability adds a Chase Power of sorts, and a tiny notice that his Undetectable and Crouching add Chase Power very occasionally). 3) Doesn’t need to take time to set traps of sorts? No, he does need time to take stealthy approaches and stalk.

End decision: When looking at all factors, The Ghost Face has 30 seconds of built-in Corrupt Intervention.

And so forth with each Killer! And I think with any first iteration of a new feature, it is a really good idea to be very conservative with it and the number of Corrupt seconds granted. Likewise, I must mention that our Trapper example was a very extreme one. I don’t see more than 1-3 Killers ever getting a “Killer Corrupt Time” longer than 30 seconds.

You know, I have always seen a +100% Bloodpoint Bonus to play Killers in the past month or so. This Bloodpoint Bonus was created to incentive whichever side needs more players. So with the need for more Killer players, I think it is a good time to try and add a little buff to them. It’s a scary area to be buffing Killers for sure, especially as there are four players on the other side instead of just one. But the idea is that Survivors don’t sit around waiting for Killers to join, and that when they do, it’s more than just the same five Killers!

Yes, Corrupt Intervention the Perk will need to be reworked somehow, in a small way or big way. But this is one Perk and only one Perk. And now the whole mess of how to balance Killer Perks is 10x simpler and can be seen from the Survivors’ eyes more often as well. So I hope you guys enjoyed this little Dev Idea and of course, feel free to add anything from flaming, to +1’ing, and in-between . Cheers!

It would help a lot of killers and kinda be like the base kit BT buff.

You can't say just no corrupt for nurse. That doesn't make any sense.

Anyway, that'd be nice. A brief moment at the start of the game where killer can move before gens are getting progressed.

It just shouldn't be over 20 seconds for really anyone.

Yeah, exactly)) We got Survivor Activity Icons and BT Basekit for everyone, it would make some sense to have a new, small Basekit Killer feature as well) It reminds me of the Basekit Gen Kicks being mini-2.5% Pops as they are now!

Love the feedback, ty dude. Yeah, I honestly could see a very good argument for basically no one getting more than 20 seconds Basekit "Killer Corrupt Time".

That smaller range of numbers means guessing (or narrowing down) who the Killer will be basically impossible too.

And I can see how adding a new Killer feature and having a couple or so Killers not get it at all doesn't make sense, so I suppose a very few two or three Killers will have it for like maybe 5 seconds at the start of the Trial (Nurse, Blight, maybe Spirit). 5 seconds is enough to stop some immediate spawns on gens progress too (You also wouldn't know it was Nurse right away either). Although maybe it should be like 8 seconds for a more real effect. But, I would honestly still lean to 0 seconds of Killer Corrupt Time (on these Top 2 or 3 Killers) despite seeing where you're coming from.

    Micro pop, more than mini.

There's no way behavior interactive could balance this overly thought out mechanic. They'd give Wesker like 40s corrupt and hag like 10 or whatever. They just do stuff without thinking about how it'll work.

That's a great challenge gauntlet thrown at Behavior :P

Hah, more seriously, I would say that like 70-90% of the Killers would be very easy to figure out I think. There'd also might be a very common, conservative "Killer Corrupt Time" that's set at like 15 seconds and which takes the guesswork out of it for many borderline Killers.

Finally, I'd look at this new feature/mechanic as something very fun and interesting. What if Behavior really did mess up little on like 5%-10% of the Killers? We know it wouldn't be on the most obvious suspects like Nurse on one end and Trapper at the other. But there could be a lot of fun if Behavior maybe gave one Killer like 10-20 seconds longer "Killer Corrupt Time" than they probably should have (Maybe like Pig?). It would give them a "Meta Period" until the next tinkering of "Killer Corrupt Times" across the board!

you can run corrupt intervention as a perk on every killer. You do not need corrupt timer or whatever this is. They're better off improving the killer power themselves if required.

It's easy to figure out for you and me. They have unfathomable thought processes that lead to perks that do stuff like "let the unhooker run away from the unhooked at mach 10". There's no way they could get this right.

I mean giving her and any other high mobility killer like her 10 seconds should be enough. While killers like trapper and hag get 60 seconds is fine. Just add ten seconds per degree of difficulty of play. Demmy can be 30 while a light is 10.

yknow i was skeptical but yeah this 100% makes sense, trapper gets blasted in the beginning of the match trying to setup all of his traps, I do think that a majority of killers do not need it

    Killers that need it:

    • Trapper
    • Ghost Face
    • Pig
    • Demogorgon
    • Deathslinger
    • Clown (short)
    • Belinda
    • Sadako
    • Pyramid Head
    • Freddy Kreuger
    • Bubba
    • Twins (maybe)

Every other killer in my opinion does not need it my choices were mainly based on who does not have easy map travel, sadako even tho she has TVs can not teleport to them when the game starts, might've completely missed some but I also just said why I picked those so I think you can see where to go from there

I could see this as well. Where maybe some Killers, like the exact ones you mentioned, get it longer than 15 seconds, but then 40% of the remaining Killers don't need it as much and only get it at like a base 8-10 seconds.
