Please stop adding more predatory FOMO
This is ridiculous. First time gating outfits, now you're forcing people to spend a minimum of 5 dollars on a single cosmetic piece that is time-gated. You are attempting to force players more and more to buy things under pressure. You have a monopoly on this genre of game, it's the single most played in its genre on the planet; going out of your way to deliberately focus your efforts on squeezing more out of players isn't profit, it's greed.
Earn the money through goodwill and fan loyalty, not shifty underhanded crap like this, please. Do not turn into companies like EA, Ubisoft and Blizzard; you're the current largest Canadian game company, you do not have any significant competition in the genre. You do not need to do this.

Every game should base themselves off of DRG.
I'm not expecting having to mine for a cosmetic, but surely something can be done for it.

You stated the reason why they do this, they have a monopoly on this genre of game. They've tested the waters with this and it's been successful so what's going to stop them? Unless nobody buys these "limited time" cosmetics it'll never stop now.

I'm not spending any cent until this disgusting travesty of FOMO is eradicated from the game. This is really ######### annoying now.
2 -
"predatory FOMO" lmao
literally just don't buy it, It's really that simple
3 -
People not buying it doesn't automatically make it not predatory . It's scummy whether it sells or not, the only difference is that if it doesn't sell, it's scummy and unsuccessful
5 -
Unfortunately this is true, they have no reason not to because they have no competition, so they're free to ######### us at their leisure

I just want to point out, nothing states its exclusive for this one-time event. It could always come to the store later or there could be future opportunities to receive/get this cosmetic.
I believe the devs have previously stated, that legacy prestige cosmetics on original characters are the only cosmetics that will not become available again. All other cosmetics (event, rift, prime gaming, etc.) have the opportunity to be added to the store in the future.
That said, there is no guarantee WHEN it will be available again. But this is almost certainly not the only opportunity for receiving this.
As mentioned, if you don't like it, don't support it.

On one hand, it's just a dumb hat, so I can't take it very seriously. On the other hand, it's just a dumb hat, and they're expecting me to spend $5 to get it? No way. And on yet another hand, I'm glad it's just a dumb hat instead of something actually good, because then I'd really be annoyed about time-gated cosmetics being a thing. But I'd prefer it not be a thing at all.

The fact that they outright lied about not putting more of this sort of thing in the game, combined with your "defense" of "I enjoy and want to willingly be exploited", suggests that you may have to evaluate your priorities
3 -
FOMO is arbitrary limited-time availability to pressure people into buying something you have no reason to limit access to, not a discount sale on things that are always available. How do you figure the two are comparable?

Having a little bonus for buying auric cells isn't that deep and that's coming from me who is a professional hater.

Okay but you're getting an equivalent currency to $5 for the game's store. The hat is just an incentive. If you were going to purchase auric cells anyway then you get a nice little bonus.

"just an incentive" is a good, clean, friendly, sanitized way to describe a lot of exploitative practices. I don't buy it, both figuratively and literally.
1 -
Well, a lot of those incentives are really frustrating.
