How do I solo q after the healing changes?

With the base kit healing time increase, medkits and CoH nerf I'm actually terrified about solo q experience.

Whenever I play survivor I exclusively play solo. I prefer it that way, I guess it's an introverted person thing, but still, a person should be able to play solo.

I bring medkits close to iri grade so I have more of a chance to get pips, otherwise I'll just run nothing or a flashlight. I don't use CoH. I have no other healing perks.

With how the game is currently, occasional CoH from my teammates (not often though), getting healed by others or a medkit found in a chest I was mostly fine. Even though I'm decent-ish in chases, have a good map awareness, it's still a solo q experience - I die most of the time.

This is due to various reasons, some of which are my mistakes when looping, but mostly when my teammates just play badly, not unhooking, being totally unaware of where the killer is, which gens to pop, trolling etc.

But even with all that I've always felt like I had a fighting chance.

Now I fear that there will never be time to heal, I'll have to rush gens instead and dying pretty quickly whenever a killer approaches. Not to forget, after an unhook it will be now much much easier to tunnel out someone because there was not enough time to get them healed - with the changes even if the killer wasn't in proximity or camping, it will be super easy for them to just go back straight to the hook from wherever on the map.

I do agree that medkits and CoH are extremely strong and often unfair for killer (I play both roles 50:50), but mostly against duos or teams. Solo q survivors are still in a bad spot, even with the indicators, and now they will be in an even worse one.


So tell me, more experienced and wise players, how do I even try to survive now... ๐Ÿ˜”

    I play mostly soloq and yes, the biggest killer is your other teammates. I am usually last man standing but I bring perks that help me get there and survive (sometimes). Spine chill, distortion, low profile, Kindred, etc. If you find yourself in this situation a LOT bring perks/items that help you find hatch or open the gate faster. If you often die before that, embrace playing stealthy. You can usually find time to heal with the right info and good game sense.

    I used to play more stealthy, but now I'm more going for "if the killer gets to me, we shall have a chase". I'm still mostly the last one standing (and I do count for that also when I die after I 1 for 1 when there's no one else left :P).

    Distortion and perks like that are great for stealthing, but can often make the killer tunnel out your teammates - since they are the ones being spotted on aura and you never do.

    That's basically it, I wanna be able to have a well-rounded match - get some chases, get hooked, do some gens, help some teammates. But in order to do so, I do need some help in the healing department.

    Many things that you said, if not all of them, are result of how you and the people you are matched with play the game. Increased healing times would not have any effect on any of that because it wasn't related to the healing time in the first place. I'm also not good at looping, that's why I have a gen repair build and play in a most stealthy way the games I do as survivor. So, to answer your question: Adapt to the game. Don't pretend for the game to adapt to you.

    BTW, funny that you play 50:50 but has nothing to say about the regression perks nerf they also announced. Should they not apply those changes either, or the only we don't like are the healing ones?

    Welp,,you will just slap adrenaline and greed gens because healing becomes somewhat inneficient after update thx to the briliant devs

    One of two builds will be functional for solo q:

    If all 4 survivors do gens, you run Adrenaline, Sprint Burst, Resilience, and your choice of 4th perk, probably Prove Thyself, Deja Vu, or some other gen perk.

    If your solo teammates are like mine and have a permanent gen allergy: Wake up, Sole Survivor, Left Behind, Distortion. Spend all game in the basement moving between lockers until everyone else is dead. Should take about 5 minutes tops.

    From what we've seen, you'll still be able to use medkits for two heals, they'll just be a little bit slower. If base numbers for CoH are acceptable, the new medkit speed should be too- it's only a difference of three seconds.

    You should also be able to boost those heals with the usual tools you can use right now. Botany Knowledge + Streetwise, Built to Last, as well as perks that give you partial healing back like Resurgence, Solidarity, and Reactive Healing- but you say you have no other healing perks, and I assume they're what you mean since you definitely do have some healing perks.

    Which brings me to- bare minimum, Inner Healing is a solid perk that'll give you one or two heals on average per match, that's worth running. Renewal has a requirement so it's a little less reliable, but that requirement is healing others, and if these changes hit with no tweaks you're going to need to heal your teammates more. Bare minimum there, you've got We'll Make It and Botany Knowledge to heal your teammates faster.

    This is branching out into some slight gambling elements since solo queue teammates are... unpredictable, shall we say, but there's also stuff like Leader to boost the speed other people heal you at. Some people might be running tools to heal you faster as well, if you're lucky enough to get competent teammates that aren't too self-focused.

    There are still tools for self healing in the game that'll be useful after this patch hits even assuming absolutely no tweaks are made, which some may very well be since it is a very hefty nerf. They're just never going to be as fast as current stacked medkits/CoH/other tools, because that's the entire problem they're aiming to fix; heals shouldn't be super fast.

    Honourable mention should also go to perks like Resilience, Iron Will, Distortion, and anything else that either gives you bonuses for being injured or makes you stealthier, since spending more of the trial injured doesn't have to be all downsides.

    That's the neat part: you don't.

    Slap on resilience and adrenaline and pray that your teammates do the same because healing will waste too much time

    Or slap on Resurgence and We'll Make it and pray that your teammates do the same (and the killer doesn't have Sloppy)

    Another alternative is Overzealous, Circle of Healing, and Inner Healing.

    Bless CoH, get the gen speed boost and heal altruistically.

    If your team starts dying off or cannot/does not heal altruistically, then start cleansing totems for the Overzealous and Inner Healing.

    I don't really care about CoB or Overcharge, I never use them (unless for a challenge or something).

    However, apart from occasional Jolt, I usually run Pain Res, so that's gonna be a big hit, but I know I'll manage somewhat with Deadlock or whatever.

    So yeah, I'm mostly unhappy about the healing changes. I can also be happy for regression to be nerfed as survivor and could say I don't like them as killer. I don't have to have one edgy opinion about the whole update that covers all aspects. All changes are catered to different roles in different ways so I'm gonna have separated opinions about each of them for both roles.

    You are wrong in one thing: All changes are catered to compensate for one another and to solve many problems for the game. If you maintain regression but not the healing, the game would be even more unbalance it is right now and viceversa.

    Centering just around one part of the changes without seeing the big picture may not be "edgy", but it is obviously biased.

    Assume you have to stay injured for the entire match. Bring SB. Bring either Vigil or self-aware. Bring Inner Healing or a medkit (keep it for unhooks, death hooks and/or endgame). Bring Resilience.
