Remove the Oni's mid-sprint kill ability from the game. Forever.

its gotten to the point where its actually not even fun how powerful it is. Bare, and i mean BARE minimum make it do just a single shot of damage, not the whole deal.

I played for the longest time not even knowing you could sprint smash, and i did absolutely fine. He plays on about the same level as any other killer without it.

Remove it from the game. Its stupid.

(im killer main this is from exclusively killer perspective)

P.S. Im not gonna even use it while playing him anymore, on purpose. it sucks and get rid of it

EDIT For example, @ImmersedNurse, i should specify that i almost always run him with MAX SPEED enabled in addons. If this for some reason makes a huge difference, i honestly wouldnt doubt it. But like still, playing in a way where you KNOW you can mid sprint down, makes him unfair in the same levels as the Cannibal for im pretty sure about the same reasons. (ive never played)

@Iron_Cutlass I see you, the main difference between those two killers and the Oni is the Oni has EXCEPTIONAL Mobility and Maneuverability. Its practically impossible to get yourself caught in a corner or to plant yourself into a wall unless you actually do it on purpose. That paired with the fact that you can instant down on command, and arent stopped if you angle it wrong and can just try again, means that i personally have NEVER to my memory missed a sprint down shot.

Again, the point here is that i hate it because im really good at it. if youre not in the same boat, thats great, but if you could add more than just 'your opinion is unique and therefor irrelevant' that would be great

+The issue that led to this being a big thing for me is I used the sprint smash plenty, and got 4k after 4k after 3k after 4k and the survivors never were at a skill level to be able to deal with me. Maybe thats an issue with matchmaking, maybe thats unfortunate timing, i dont know. Just now, i got a max hook 1k without using the sprint smash against a very effective team (okay maybe i used it once but the guy was getting on my nerves he knew he deserved it) This is the way i think it should be. Not the unstoppable beast he can be when you use the stuff.

also from the deepest part of my heart shut the hell up all of you who say this is troll bait im taking that very personally and it isnt and shuddup

to be fair tho i am interacting with the dbd community i dunno why i expected anything other than 80% the shittiest part of humanity and 20% super kind people sharing ideas like me, and being understanding and supportive

20% i see you and i love you and i preesh you and dont stop being you <3

Universally unhelpful. I hold deep preference to information over opinion.

as of the past 10 seconds, i just got a 3k with 2 alive on doors powered, one hook short and an INCH under a 4k, i didnt use the sprint smash once. This is not a fluke.

Well think about it like this:

Oni is this middle area between Blight and Billy.

    • Blight is extremely fast and lethal, their ability leaves a lot of room for mistakes and errors, but also only takes a single health state. Their ability can be used for most of the match, accessed from the beginning.
    • Billy is extremely fast and lethal, their ability punishes making mistakes and errors, but also only takes two health states as a result. Their ability can be used for most of the match, accessed from the beginning.
    • Oni is extremely fast and lethal, their ability laves a lot of room for mistakes and errors, their ability can take two health states. The downside to this is that their power has to be earned, does not have access from the beginning. Limited duration.

Oni is basically Billy and Blight smashed together into a single Killer (Oni even has the whole "bad addon" thing from Billy, go figure). Mechanically, it is a mix between the two Killers... you charge your ability and gain limited turning (Billy), but are able to slide around objects and flick the end of your power around tight corners (Blight) to get an insta-down (Billy).

The main drawback to their power is that it can be denied the entire match, Oni has an incredibly weak early game as a compromise for high snowball potential. In the competitive scene, it is common to see many Oni players run Play With Your Food AND Corrupt Intervention because it is the only way they are physically able to get their ability, and it often heavily relies on finding the Obsession which often hide because of how common those two perks are to see in competitive when facing Oni.

Well. As a survivor main that actually mained Oni for a short time when playing killer... This one is absolutely fine.

    • Good squad can deny his power for a long time (absolutely not the whole match as stated above - those are not public matches and I consider competitive just an outlier for core game) - until 2-3 gens actually pop.
    • There are loops that are perfect negation to him. It can't be too short, but it can't be too long. Perfect example for this one is map Ironworks of Misery and next to main loop long-ish crates with single pallet. No Oni can actually use his demon strike on that one and get the survivor (if the survivor is not outright throwing)
    • there are a LOT of opportunities for mind games (also this is one of the reasons I hate the idea of higher FoV/FoV slider for killers) - a good survivor will abuse your expectation of what he will do and hide behind a barrel (basically on a plain sight) or run out from behind a corner just as you are entering it - perfectly abusable on jungle gyms (and others conditionally too - for example I have seen a lot of LT's that allowed it, but also a lot of LT's that are easy for Oni)
    • Some filler pallets (they are not created equal - other fillers are death sentence) are very strong against his dash as it gives a lot of opportunities to dodge him + just move around as you recover

Overall his ability is one of the strongest in the game. But it's also very limited (in this regards same as plague). But even if it's strong, it still allows counterplay and mind games. This feels healthy to me. I see no reason why this should be changed. There are other things that are just pure unfair in the game (C33, tombstone piece, MDR, BNP's ...). Oni's ability 100% does not belong to that list.

Also - I presume you haven't played like too many games with the killer. Wait some time until your MMR adjusts and try to play at prime time where best survivors actually play (say at 8pm on Friday). You will be humbled very soon and very quickly (the only other alternative is, that you are insanely cracked at the killer - but that does not seem likely as I am sure you would know about demon strike in dash).

Pretty positive the vast majority of the community likes Oni a lot, including survivor players. He is one of the most balanced killers in the game if you ask me. And while his demon dash is very strong, it certainly has counterplay.

I am positive he won't be seeing any balance changes any time soon.

So you just want weaker Blight? Why?

Seems like a bait to me, or titled survivor. I am Oni main and you want to remove what is most fun thing about him.

He is not best killer, your game usually start when there are 3 gens left, unless survivors screwed it.

His snowball potencial is insane, but he is mainly fun to play and he is not too much oppressive.

There is a counterplay against him. So why make A tier killer, D tier just because you feel like he doesn't need it (which I doubt).

You know what? You like information over opinion. "your whole post is opinion btw"

    Show us some recorded games.

then hes just blight with extra steps and less rewards. oni doesnt need nerfs, hes pretty balanced.

Yeah but the claim of "I didn;t know he could smash mid dash and I did just fine" holds no proof right now. You can claim that but until I know the skill of the survivors you faced via video then I can make a good opinion.

Yea, and I can get a 4K before the generators are finished with Pig using perks that don't even activate until the last generator is completed and not using her stealth. On Pig. This is not a fluke. Demon Dash is part of Oni's power, whether YOU use it or not.

Alternatively, how did @CheesyBabyBoi play against Oni without knowing about his one shot Demon Dash? Even a Killer main plays Survivor once in a while and Oni isn't that rare, is he?

Plus isn't the one shot Demon Dash described in his power description (legit question, I don't know off the top of my head)

tbf, people had an issue with Billy's charge addons. People really only wanted the charge addons changed.

Oni also had a similiar addon that halved the charge time for his dash and the devs at least only nerfed it.

Negative, ghost rider. I'm leaning about 90% of the way to saying this is troll bait since it's funny watching people flounder at the sight of really dumb takes. But since I do know for a fact people like this can exist I'll give a serious reply. Oni offers plenty of counter play to both sides. Survivors can get strong loops to outplay demon dash while good Oni mains can learn angles and flicks to also get survivors when they don't expect it.

He's an M1 killer with a slow start up and timed patches of power spikes where he can put down both chase and map pressure. A much more well designed version of Myers honestly.

And if this is a real post I'm having trouble taking your opinion seriously because A: You aren't even capable of properly reading ability descriptions that clearly explain how the ability works, thus revealing to you that you had insta downs all along. And B: You're playing against survivors that you can still 3 and 4k while basically using half of Oni's kit.

I'm gonna take a bit of a presumptuous guess here and say if I went against those same survivors as a perkless and powerless M1 killer the results would be about the same.

TBF, if I understood correctly, OP knew about the instadowns in general but claims to not have known that they could be used during Demon Dash.

Still baffling since that's a well known part of his kit, one that could easily have been discovered by accidentally left-clicking during a dash, encountered when going up against an Oni as Survivor, or seen by even a casual search for videos on Oni.

While I mention it myself I'm not going to knock anyone not reading power descriptions. They aren't the best written things ever and I tend to skip them myself. Hell I only just recently noticed myself the bit in the Doctor's power that his shocks negate Oblivious.

    @GuyInABlackTee @Devil_hit11 @Zeidoktor @FootMan2893

YOU ALL ARE SMELLY AND STUPID AND INSENSITIVE

nowhere in the description does it specify that you could reasonably use both abilities simultaneously somehow, and with killers like wraith i think its plenty fair to make the assumption that while in a special fast-moving mode you cant really do anything else until you cancel the movement

Also, i have the thing where it shows you the controls in the bottom of the screen at all times and when youre in demon dash it does NOT present the option to do it so i had literally no reason to believe that you could.

also who looks up videos on how to play the game learning is like the whole deal about playing

i would say '######### ALL OF YOU' but it would probably get me in trouble so i wont

i honestly tried man, i really did. my computer just isnt capable of playing this game and recording it at the same time. The video (i use obs) is supposed to be recorded on pretty low settings, 800p resolution, 30fps, but it just cant deal

its super choppy, and if you wanna see the video that i recorded at like .75 fps then i can get that for you but unless you think having a 360p video would work and/or be worth the effort i just dont think thats a thing i can do

    i really did try tho
