Spirit NEEDS some more interesting counterplay.
Spirit is easily my least favourite killer to face in the entire game, because it’s so painful to loop her it’s baffling.
Why does a killer require (DIRECTIONAL) sound for their more important half of counterplay? Sound has always been important for killers as a counterplay method (like huntress winding up her hatchet, Demo teleport, multiple other sound queues. Etc. Etc). But no killer REQUIRES her counterplay to be 90% about sound.
the reason i’m unhappy with this is because i am hard of hearing, my left ear has difficulty picking up sound so when there’s careful scanning for direction of sound required, i’m all out of luck.
This is more of an attack on her power design and not her players or the character herself, i think she has some of the best cosmetics in the game and the potential with her power is quite high (with the whole bloodline rage stuff).
you wouldn’t even have to fully rework her power to make her more interesting, number changes and other changes while still keeping her base would make her more interesting. for example, have her spawn husks during Phasing to spook people or give away her location, give her some way to augment her passive phasing more where she because a lot more mindgame heavy and fair because her speed isn’t at mach 10. Make her more spooky while keeping the confusion that she’s known for while making her counterplay actually interesting other than: Predict location, get hit or miss/dodge, wait for power cooldown because spirit walks slowly, repeat.

Yeah it sucks to have a killer power rly so much on audio (This goes for people playing as her too)
She was going her a dust effect when moving in phase. Honestly considering she moves at 176% in phase and can easily play most loops I wouldn’t be opposed to this

I mean if she leaves dust I can just camp the pallet and see whe she will lunge from can't I? With sound she can mindgame but if I see the dist is the same as she not really being invisible, I will run out of pallets before she gets a hit.

I mean, for this you would basically need to also give her more clues.
I think she is in decent state.
Like sucks to be you, but I don't think killer should be nerfed for not even 1% of survivors.

From what I’ve heard, the visual heartbeat they implemented should tell you how close she is in phase. It doesn’t tell you exactly where she’s coming from though, but it can be a useful tool if you’re hard if hearing.

I’m not saying she should be nerfed, more or less reworked. Change her numbers and make her less atrocious and more accessible. Plus, she’s easily a top 5 killer so slightly hurting her wouldn’t be seen as “unfair” (although Blight and Nurse need nerfs a bit more).

with a Spirit rework I mean more of a Legion/Doctor style rework, not Freddy style. Give her some stat changes and add-on updates or just give her some accessibility :)

I don't think she gives Survivors a warning except the phasing sound, it isnt TR related.-
What if bHVR gave the heart a chilling Icy Color when Spirit is Phasing nearby, this took me less than min in Photoshop.
I think this would also help the counter play @leviivel was looking for?

Maybe it would, but I don’t want it to be too overpowered for survivors. There needs to be some kind balancing.

while this would definitely help, I’d like some way to tell the direction. Since that’s an extra important part to her counter play.

the problem is that with her power it becomes hard to make an accessibility option without it hurting her too much. Unless they slightly rework her by remove the directional sound and instead give her visual cues.

yeah, that part would require some more work, however I think if the heart changed color you could act appropriately in 9/10 cases.
It would be an easy solution bHVR could do until there was time to implement a more solid solution.

I don't like this idea. Butchering killer because some players can't handle them? Ok. I have a little bit worse reflexes - I want accessibility option for game to always hit great skillchecks for me - counts also for merciless storm.
You see the problem? Like don't get me wrong. I understand that it sucks to have problem with hearing. I would even be perfectly OK if people had option to sign off from certain killers (plague and clown because of some phobias). I get why other people don't want that (blight and nurse having problems find a game), but it still makes more sense to me. But basically destroying the killer for everyone else is... Not ideal to say the least.
Also, the killer (basekit) is perfect the way it is. The only thing that needs adjustment are those 3 OP addons (and if you have spare time and u don't feel like fixing burning issues - she also has a few totally worthless addons too)

She’s very fast with an insane lunge post phase. On most pallets she can go around and get the hit easily

I feel like that’s a bad comparison with reflexes and sound. (But if reflexes really were that bad, they could add a visual indicator before skill checks).
also, i don’t want to butcher her, I want to change her to have more fun counterplay instead of: “Predict, hit or miss, wait for power, repeat.” Because I think like 90% of the community can agree spirit is boring af to play against.
also, would something like visual directional sound indicators really butcher? It wouldn’t even tell distance just direction like everyone else can hear, would that be so bothersome?
