"Block" Function not working properly?
Hi Community, I just want to ask if anyone else is facing the same issue as me.
I recently played a game against two cheaters (checked their profiles, they are swf and both using speed boost cheats that allowed them to run at killer speed and repair gen at a fast pace without the help of tools and perks). I reported and blocked them immediately, but I still ended up in the same match with those two cheaters after that.
I understand that cheaters are difficult to detect and ban, but at least I would like to make sure that I don't playing with them again and ruining my game experience. Is there any way to ensure that the blocking function works and prevents me from playing with cheaters if I happen to spot them?

The block function does not prevent you from matching with players.

Oh, seems like I misunderstand the Block function, so there is no way to prevent matching with certain player?

No because then people would just start blocking people they don't want to face in general making it harder for those people to even get matches. It's the same if they did a Block Certain Killers

meh. i think people should be allowed to avoid being matchmade with at least 1 person. there's one streamer i know i'd avoid if so. if it allowed anyone to just block everyone ofc it'd be abused but i'm hopeful they allow in the future not wanting to be matchmade with 1-2 people you actively do not like.

Block only prevents them to send you friend requests. You can still get matched with them and still can read what they say in the chat.

Ok let me put it this way.....X Streamer won't get blocked by just you...but let's say word gets out that people want to mess with X Streamer and then when he would have let's say 7,000 possible players to face it gets reduced to 500....this would limit how many games they could play because of even 1 person in that lobby of Survivors blocked them they could play against any of them....it's not fair for X Streamer because the block system would be HIGHLY abused to Target players

people would more than likely block the basement bubba or trapper man, i can assure you grouping up a mob of over a thousand people to block 1 streamer is tedious and hardly worth the effort. (and they have to be in the same server as the streamer AND similar mmr for it to even do anything btw) trolls exist, yes but i cannot think of there being 1 thousand trolls for any specific streamer in THEIR server that ALSO have the same MMR for it to even remotely touch the streamer. you're playing with such small odds and it's silly. it would be so much simpler for someone to just buy cheats and ruin a streamer's matches constantly than to do stuff like this. people don't like long, tedious and convoluted stuff. they want easy and annoying.

If a single player is being blocked so often that it affects their ability to find matches in a game with thousands of players then maybe that player shouldn’t have access to other players. I know this is a Canadian-based gaming company or whatever and so it prioritizes ‘niceness’ but there’s something to be said about actual public consequence to bad behavior.

Literally pointless. All the ways in which a player can grief or harass you are left in tact after a block on this game. But hey at least they can’t friend you. Lol. Does any other PvP with player blocking function this way?

But the point of blocking a player is to stop them from interacting with you, correct? So in DBD not only can you match with players who you’ve blocked but at least if you’re on PC they can still message you via the endgame chat. And if you’re on PlayStation, Xbox, or Wii, they can send messages to you through console unless you block them through that. And in either case they can still grief you in game. I don’t think any game besides this one allows that. it’s stupid to allow that but here we are 💅🏾 you and me.

I’ve blocked players yet seen their messages in EGC. If you turn off EGC you won’t see it from anyone but it can’t just be turned off from people you block.

Overwatch has a pretty nice system where you can "Avoid as Teammate" up to 3 players for 7 days.
There is zero accountability for player behavior right now. A system that makes players think twice about being an ass might actually be good for the game's health. If people are struggling to find matches because everyone is blocking them, it's time they look inward at the real problem.

As this is turning quite argumentative and heated I will step in here and say the block feature is purely for chat messages - we do not wish to block players in game.
There was a time where using a 3rd party programme could block players and this ended up being blacklisted because of course it was abused - that survivor beat me - block, I don't like this killer they play nurse - block. That's not the intention of the game at all.

I feel like it'd be good to have a limited block list. Like up to 6 people that you can avoid getting matched with.

Like 6 makes sense that way you have to think long and hard do I ban xyz cause there nurse or do I save them for actual cheaters make it to were you can only ban after the March but before the next and can only remove someone before said match so they have higher value
