Why does basement still exist?
The only purpose it has nowadays is for killers to just camp. Considering BHVR wants to "do" something about camping why don't they remove the whole basement aspect?

Removing basement wouldn't bother me. I like the aesthetics/ambiance of it... but I could say the same about the new map (good aesthetics, bad gameplay experience).
As a Nurse enjoyer, I can definitely say that hooking in the basement is disproportionately advantageous for her, since she can blink in and out of it extremely easily. The Nurse doesn't have to pay the price of the long walk out of the basement since she can just blink out (well, when the game doesn't randomly decide she can't, anyway).
Though, I would admit that I would miss being comically sucked into the basement during a chase.
If they do remove it, hopefully they will adjust all of the tome challenges that require hooks/sacrifices in basement, and they will also have to rework Monstrous Shrine and Territorial Imperative.

Basement is there for the killer to have a place to kick back, relax, and listen to the screams of the damned. You know, have few drinks, polish the murder implements, and contemplate the profound mysteries of the entity.
Also it's just a pretty classic horror trope to have a spooky murder basement.

They’re not removing camping all-together, just face camping. The upcoming anti-face camping mechanic is intended to give survivors a chance to rescue and get in more chases.
Proxy camping will still be a thing.

You know that the basement is specifically designed to be close to a death trap, right? It's a means of creating pressure and punishing careless survivors. Removing that makes the game even more forgiving for survivors, which really isn't necessary at the moment.

I think basement and hooks being killed off when a survivor dies are two wayyyy outdated game mechanics that couldn't leave the game any sooner (but probably never will).
Add healthy grabs off of hooks while you're at it.

I hate basement Bubba/Trapper as much as the next guy but even a 12 hooking killer like myself will punish a team for going down at basement. I always considered it fair game and that kind of "Oh you ######### up now" sort of thing. Not sure how they could change it in a good way honestly.

If basements are staying, can BeHaviour and Microsoft team up to disable Xbox players from receiving messages from players who are left to die in the basement?
Like, we saw Feng get hooked in the basement; well all know where it's at. So why is it that after a survivor got her out while the killer was busy chasing someone else, all 3 of you somehow ended up back in the basement?? The killer didn't even have Iron Grasp when he was carrying me... 🤷♂️
Them: "Why didn't you come try to rescue me?? You're bad at this game!!"
Me: "How many times do I have to learn this lesson?? No wonder people play in SWF. It's to avoid new players who haven't learned..."

Yes, obviously. You also do know that Iron Grasp exists right? And that for face-camping killers it doesn't matter whether you go down near basement or a million miles away from it.

They don't seem to have an issue with camping though. All the changes over the years with camping have been to solve edge cases with camping.
Allowing survivors to save on the sides of the hook to deal with face camping.
Making survivors have I-frames when being unhooked so they don't go down during the animation.
Giving base kit BT so survivor can't go down as soon as their feet hit the ground.
Allowing survivors to unhook themselves if the killer face camps without survivors nearby.
Seems they are perfectly fine with camping being in the game and it's more of things they find have little to zero counterplay that they change. The reason we have a wiggle system even in the game is so killers can't take every down to the basement.

Then, why are you making an argument about basement when the problem you describe comes from Iron Gras (which isn't even good and certainly won't do much without Agitation)?
Face camping is an issue on it's own as well. It doesn't matter, if Bubba drags you to the basement or smacks you on the nearest hook. If he decides you're not leaving, then you're not leaving. That is, of course, until the anti camp mechanic gets implemented.

Because basement is still the issue. It makes all those aspects literally possible for one and worse. Its existence in the current gameplay is redundant. Basekit-BT was also supposed to be anti-camping, yet it's useless in basements.
At the very least they should add two exits to a basement, if so adamant on keeping it.

Sure, why not. It’s very unfair for killers to have even a single thing that helps them, after all. Let’s get rid of m1 attacks, the ability to kick pallets, and being able to strafe left while we’re at it.

Basement allows Killers to defend hooks more easily, punishes survivors who go down in the otherwise very safe shack area (when basement spawns there) and guarantees that there are at least some hooks in a certain part of the map that can't be sabo'd or reliably body-blocked. If they were going to get rid of basement (which they absolutely won't), you would need sweeping changes to how hooks work and how a whole host of perks interact with them.

This is how I view the basement as well. Most maps have one, and I believe there should be an area the survs should avoid because it is so dangerous and potentially quite leathal.

I'm absolutely shocked that other people besides the OP have issues with the basement. Not once in my almost four years of playing this game have I thought that the basement is a bad thing to have in the game. Of course it can single-handedly turn games around if a survivor is careless enough to go down near it, but that is entirely on them. The dangers of the basement are well-known in advance.
All other reasons for keeping it aside, I believe it's also part of the lore. Something about it being the place that's closest to the entity.

Basement is an iconic factor since the start of dbd. If basements gone, dbd is gone, if dbd is gone, life is gone, if life is gone, earth is gone, if earth is gone, all we would have left is Fortnite players in a different dimension.

Are we seriously complaining about basement when the maps are survivors havens loaded with safe areas? The killer can't have one dangerous spot on the map, christ.

This is what it was designed for and honestly I think it's a good thing that killers have at least one trump on each map.
It's the same as some time waster set ups survivors have. You do not want to go there, so you need to make a decision. Either stear cleer of that area or hope that you can make it through.
BT does help with the basement. You can make it for 44 metres far while protected by a base mechanic. The basement is not that large. Also, the basement is a counter mechanic to hook RNG, offerings and sabotage. The amount of times I've seen a down get completely negated by a bit of luck on the survivor side is infuriating. That can cost the killer the whole match sometimes and there really is nothing the killer can do other than accept they lose because of RNG.
The basement is only as strong as the one defending it. Some people will make it the most horrible place imaginable, others will use it to get a bit of pressure in a game that mostly favors survivors when it comes to that. The basement is not an issue.

I have never used any gen perks except for maybe pop.
Only staple perk was bbq for the additional objective plus more BP and the rest was mostly passiv enhancements like iron maiden for faster locker or bamboozle for faster vaults or the aforementioned Lightborn when I saw some beamers in Lobby until it also became a permanent companion so i can go off screen during lobby.

It's indeed not that large, considering killers can literally body-block you on certain maps. Where regardless of BT or whichever perk, you won't even get a chance to try and get out. Hook mechanics, offerings and sabo are 3 separate things and can be problematic by themselves. RNG has to do with the maps, offerings, and sabo are trail-dependant and not a constant factor in every match.
As I said, I find that they should either add another entry point to basement or remove it.

Why, i only said it's a hassle to get there for EVERY hook. It's fine when survivor aren't careful and end up there.
I was also one of the people that suggested for the killer to have their spawn fix down their for atmosphere and to get rid of survivor spawning in visual range of the killer.

That's actually a really good idea, damn we should get killer spawn down there. Haha you're bringing back my memories of when you used to spawn in the killers terror radius and sometimes literally right next to the killer. Good times.

That would be a bit of a buzzkill for killers like Meyers and Ghostie though. I personally love sneaking up on survivors and catching them off guard

I don't know of a single map where the basement can still be bodyblocked. I'm pretty sure this issue was fixed completely.
BT does protect you for long enough to make it out of the basement and to at least 1 or 2 different loops (depending on the map and basement location).
