How to make a fun, strong and enjoyable Killers in DbD

The most healthy killers in the game for both sides are those who:

  • Have strong power, but that offers a room for skill and available counterplay for Survivors. Where both sides have similar room to outplay each other and where skill metters.
  • Have fun power to use and not too much complicated or too many annoying elements for Survivors.

The top best killers in the game I would say in terms of power design are: Wesker, Huntress and Blight (base kit).

All of these 3 Killers have strong power but with room of counterplay for Survivors, Survivors don't feel hopeless (usualy) againts them and they can usualy do some things to avoid being hit by it. Their power is generaly speaking fun to use and skill metters for both sides there.

If we have more killers like these in future, DbD will be more enjoyable for both sides imo. We need more A tier Killers with counterplay for Survivors (not just hold W or predrop 500 pallets to win) and fun to use / play againts power.

Remember when Wesker came out? Everyone complained about him not because he was bad Killer (desing), but because he was seen almost every match. He is so fun to play, strong but has room for skill and counterplay.

I completed agree with you. I know when I started playing Wesker it was pretty clear what I should be doing on him and his power wasn't super complicated to use or learn. His power also doesn't heavily punishes you for missing. Meanwhile I'm having the exact opposite experience with the new killer. I have no clue what I should be doing with his power, there to much going on and it leads me super stressed out and I feel his power punishes you if you use it wrong or over use it. Overall I really wish we had more Wesker style of killers.

Fun & Enjoyable are heavily subjective things and quite frankly those killers just aren't fun imo, especially not Blight.

That doesn't really change that i don't think they're fun, which is why i wrote ''imo'' in my other message.

What do you find fun? Basic m1 killers you can loop forever? Lmao

Yet that doesn't change the fact that majority of killers like powerful yet interactive killers and that is reflected in how much they are picked. They are the most healthy simply.

Good for them that they like such killers, however not everybody enjoys the same thing and i simply cannot enjoy those killers no matter what.

Nemesis & Pyramid Head probably the most.

It's not just about enjoyment of the killer players, the interaction for both sides is a big deal.

You're underestimating the number of people who hate Huntress, lol. Queen of the lag and seemingly unfair hits.

And I'm surprised to see Blight up there in the fun for survivor category.

I second that other user who said fun is subjective.

For me, a killer doesn't have to be very strong to be fun to play as. I main Legion because I find them fun (I make no promises of the survivors finding them fun.) but they're not strong against good survivors.

Similarly, I find Nemesis very fun to play as and against.

I enjoy playing as and against Hag as well (though much of my enjoyment of playing against her stems from my enjoyment of playing her).

I like going against Nurse because it changes the chase into jukes and hide and seek. (Can't play her because she makes me motion sick)

I think it's okay that some killer's counters are not particularly skillful. Not all killers have the ambition of being top mmr material, and low mmr survivors have to be taken into account too. If every killer took much skill to counter, there would be virtually no low skill survivors because they'd just leave or switch to killer.

I'm talking about the experience i have both as when playing as and against those killers.

If more people like those killers then more power to them, however you cannot force anyone to enjoy something they simply just don't find fun because fun & enjoyment is once again subjective in the end.

Although I understand the idea of these being poular killers they're other factors that make them popular. Huntress is a killer everyone starts with and has a range attack which makes many new players gravitate towards her. Blight is one of the strongest killers in the game with a pretty straight forward and easy to pick up gameplan making him popular amongst people who want to win. Finally Wesker is a liecenced killer from an iconic gaming franchise with voice lines and a borderline comical power of throwing people. That is to say there is a lot more that makes these killers popular than what you said. To say many people find these killers fun to play against is not fair. People complain about huntress' hitboxes and camping potential quite a bit, base blight is full of techs and bugs that can make him feel unfair or cheesy to play against and many people feel over exposed to Wesker and infection is a mechanic that not only makes tunneling easier but makes you feel punished for doing well in a chase (as you then come off the hook with more infection making you easier to tunnel).

Finally, what's most healthy for the game is diversity. I tend to enjoy killers with powers that aren't straight forwards to use and that focus more on the 4v1 than the 1v1 such as Dredge, Plague and Ghostface. This next part depend on what you mean by "more" but if we were to only see killers like that in the future I would feel worse about the game and they're killers I care less about. Even if I enjoyed playing against huntress if I played against huntress every match I would get sick of it very quickly and it's most important that different playstyles are catered to. I will agree that we've not seen many of these "straight forwards" killers as much recently and I would not complain if the next one was but reguardless of what's "fun" too much of it and repetition would quickly make people sick of the game.

For me fun killers are ones with power that are straight to the point or if they have special elements they are automatic. DBD is all about time efficiency so you can't waste your time with killers like singularity setting up disable...able cameras just so you can tag them just so you can then teleport to them. Nurse can teleport without all that and she is one of the strongest killers.

I have no intention or ability to force you to do anything. The reality of playing vs ph and nemesis is that if they have distance you will get hit at a pallet or window. I mained hag, neme, bubba and ph in that order before blight. The more I understood the survivor view, the more I realized how unfun any decent killer playing those killers is. PH and Neme especially will just zone and hit or have distance and hit anywhere. Hag's web has more macro potential than all other killers but it's irrelevant when you hit and leave without a real chase.

I can't blame people for enjoying anything. You can run alch-ring/green speed and win everygame while playing in the most disgusting way possible as blight while being mediocre.

Some survivors care little for gameplay and just like RE, that sentiment extends across many different players in many different ways.

I mean, blight has one "bug" that is far easier to play against than anything normal. You make traversing the map easier and certain filler tiles free, it's not that insane. He is probably the second hardest killer to pick up mechanically in the game but is all but unmasterable.

Diversity isn't directly healthy for the game, knight was the first all out 3 gen killer and no one likes him.

Billy, Oni, Wesker, Blight, Demo and huntress are probably the most fun to go against overall by the community.
