I personally wish they would implement the built-in self pick up and insta-killer win if everyone is slugged at the same time. I'd much rather the game just ends and move on to the next match. This also makes it more of a risk for the killer to slug especially if survs bring Unbreakable or Exponential.

Just had a killer that slugged me and followed me all 4 minutes over the map until i bleed out. The game had 4 cakes and one BPS.
The killer used anonymous mode. Thank you Mandy for not allowing any discussion why anonymous mode needs to be counterbalanced with a reputation system.

They wanted to win. And they did. Why do survivors sit in the exit gate, rush a hook in endgame, slam gens? because they want to win. those things are mostly incomparable, but the principle applies. Its more than likely you dont get the 4k if you hook the last guy bc hatch.

I wouldn't compare a perk you might maybe see every once in a while to a base mechanic that's in every single game.
NoED requires you to play a perk down the entire match for an totem that reveals itself to the survivors if there's even a totem left. You might get 1 down with it and then the survivors will most likely break it. I haven't seen NoED in a long time personally after the nerf hammer came down on it hard, which is probably healthier for the game tbh. However if your in the bottom tiers of the MMR system then it might still be popular I suppose.
Hatch just spawns in for free, so you always have to account for it.
If you want to turn hatch into a boon perk survivors have to equip for it to spawn then sure go for it.
Also getting a down and getting an escape are 2 different things. If NoED just killed the survivor than it would be closer, but still not the same.

I break all the totems solo for BP pretty regularly, SWF is not required. Even when I 'm in a SWF I'm usually the only one who does the totems lol. It would be more efficient if they did obviously, but it's not needed.
Bringing a map or totem perk helps a ton, which is more than fair. Using 1/16 of the survivor perks to potentially out 1/4 of the killer's as well as any other hexes is a pretty good deal.
Also like others have said, just wait for it to send out its "break me I'm here" beacon if you don't want to do any of that.

When or if you play survivor, do you enjoy it when killers slug 4 people on the ground to be bled out?

As the game is now its not inherently toxic to go for the 4k by slugging #3, as you need to account for hatch.
Now if hatch was removed that'd be a different story. Assuming nothing takes its place.
Bleed out on the ground is kinda in the same boat due to being able to pull yourself off the hook. Remove it, make hooks respawn from sacrifice, and fix hook dead zones and there'd be no excuse.
As I said earlier, bad mechanics beget other bad mechanics.

absolutely not i hate it. I also hate it when survivors all take hits and force a drop/struggle etc. there are plenty of unfun things for both sides that lead to winning, this one just happens to be much more annoying. Im not kidding, if the game is made in such a way that using unfun strategies is optimal then thats a fault in design. Hatch is really at fault here, its near totally random who gets to it first without an offering. The design of hatch inherently promotes slugging for the 4th.
I never said it was fun, just said that its the best way to win. I dont slug for the 4k in my killer games because I recognize that. The post was asking why its necessary, if somebody wants to guarantee the 4k then its a surefire way to do it. its miserable and boring to use it and face it and it needs to go.

Funny thing is that guide is incorrect, you don't win by sacrificing the survivors you win by killing them with sacrifice being one option.
The devs are at it again I see lol. Probably just an honest mistake but them contradicting themselves has led to a lot of misinformation flying around.

If the killer can get 2 out of the game, the 4k is basically secured. When it's down to 2 survivors, you just slug one and wait for the other to save them, you see it all the time. It's not fun but it's how DBD works.

This. It rewards poor skill and as OP said, they don't deserve it but the game allows it and so they will go for it whenever possible.
Luckily my matches just end with hatches lately at worst.

a 5 minute chase is ez for a surv who is alone. Just predrop all palettes, if you are smart enought you get to another palette and you can do this again and again and again

It doesn't really reward "poor skill" or anything though, it means killers still managed to sacrifice two survivors with few times to spare, which basically indicate they are skilled to the point they basically won.

The hatch isn’t just a mechanism that benefits the survivors, as a game mechanic it encourages survivors to not just remain hidden when they’re the last person up. Without it, if gens aren’t done the killer can’t even open a gate to trigger the end game collapse.

Just let the endgame collapse start, when there is only 1 survivor left.

Then the correct play for the last survivor is as soon as they see their team mate go down (or suspect it’s imminent) - go to the gate farthest from where the player was downed and wait. Remember, the context here - the suggested change is that killers won’t slug the 2nd to last person if we got rid of hatch. If they still slug that 2nd to last person, then all that’s being done is buffing endgame for killers by getting rid of the hatch mechanic.

Its not buffing anything. After all, endgame was buffed for survivors. Originally, hatch would only spawn if 2 gens were completed. Now the hatch can spawn even at 5 gens. Rewarding for failure. Whats even more, the hatch has brought toxic behavior to the game. When 2 survivors are left, usually 1 hides in the hope the killer finds the other one first. Or even worse, one tries to rat out the teammate, in the hope the killer shows mercy.
There are a lot of problems that would be solved by simply removing the hatch. You fear that killers will just slug one of the survivors, no problem, give survivors the option to bleed out faster.

It’s not fear that killers will slug one of the survivors, it’s just the context of this discussion. The person suggested getting rid of hatch in exchange for killers no longer slugging for the 4K. Besides, they do that anyway so it’s not like that would be new behavior.
Hiding in hopes the killer downs the other survivor first or pointing team mates out has nothing to do with the hatch. So long as 1 remaining survivor can escape and killers can grant mercy, some people are going to do that. It’s bad behavior, certainly, but it’s not the hatch’s fault.
There are side effects of tying hatch spawn to number of gens one of which is even more encouragement to gen rush and disregard unhooks.
Kill rates are currently roughly where they want them, yes? What effect do you think removing the hatch would have on those numbers and what nerfs do you think killers will receive to bring them back down? You can’t change something like the existence of hatches in isolation and not expect there to be side effects.

Again, in which part do I control my teammates not doing stupid stuff in end game and them not trying to be super altruistic or something? Also why shouldn't the killer camp his totem by hooking the downed survivor next to it if it's not on the other side of the map?
It's like we're talking about braindead killers here. But survivors have to be at least decent.
Not being able to co-ordinate with no communication features doesn't make one a bad player, they make them disadvantaged.
A killer getting someone cause the survivor walked to a dead zone he didn't know was a dead zone is not a skill issue on the survivor's part. It's a game flaw since we cannot communicate to each other where pallets are left.
Survivors having trouble doing all gens is cause we don't know where the gen getting worked on is. It's not a skill issue I cannot guess a random gen. It's a gameflaw that requires me and my teammates to play as a team but gives us no means to do so. Do you know how many times I've wanted to send some sort of message to my teammates to go finish my central gen?
Even if matchmaking was fixed, the communication stuff is still missing. And matchmaking would greatly benefit upper levels where survivors are well-rounded in general. But mid to low levels would also benefit more from some sort of communication system, like ask for healing or ask for a specific gen to be focused on.

Plenty of survs don't see their behaviour as "jerkish" that's in the eye of the beholder. Again just because you don't like my playstyle anymore than i may like yours is not a reason to be able to badrep someone.

SoloQueue now has communication in the form of the action icons of the HUD. You now know what your teammates are doing at all times. You can tell if they’re on a gen, doing nothing, cleansing a totem, hooked, opening a chest, healing, cleansing a debuff, slugged, or are in a chase. If you pay attention, you can see if someone was on a gen and let go of it and can usually assume they’re going for a rescue. Nearly everything you can communicate on Comms is give to you visually.
Knowing where the dead zones are is part of your job as a survivor. You keep your eyes open and pay attention to where the killers been. Listen for their terror radius and if you don’t hear them chasing near by, then it’s safe to assume your local resources are still available. You can also use your eyes as you make way from generator to generator and make note of what resources are available. If you struggle to do that, you can crutch in Windows of Opportunity like I do.
Theres no excuse for anymore Solo Queue buffs in terms of communications. You have everything handed to you and you have plenty of perks to fill in any of your individual weaknesses.
As I said earlier, it’s only a case of bad matchmaking and getting gud.
Otherwise, learn how to make friends and play SWF if solo queue is so unbearable. That is still an option.

At that point if there are 2 down 1 dead and the other being chased you've already lost the game. You dont deserve to win at that point.

Just remove the hatch temporarily. Like they removed bloodlust temporarily. See what happens.
The hatch is an outdated game mechanic, that needs to go. Removing it, would instantly solve the slugging for 4k issue.
Now also change the requirement for the achievements to allow earning it, when 1 escapes and slugging for 4k will be reduced.

I actually tried this build. I cannot do all the totems on my own and if I do that means I am not doing gens. So which should I prioritize? I am starting to think those advising me are bullshitting me.

Just because you're incapable or unwilling, doesn't mean everyone is. Not everyone is a sweaty gen jokey player, although given the survivor base I can see why that might be hard to believe.
I don't like when killers tunnel/slug or when survivors slam gens, so I don't do either when I'm playing the respective side. I stick by my beliefs that if survivors want killers to play more casually/slowly they need to do the same. Maybe if more would do that instead of perpetuating hypocrisy we would be in a better gaming environment.
So I do totems as it lets me get BP with potential other benefits depending, while also giving killers some of the breathing room they need to reasonably play without sweat tactics if they so choose.

Prioritize gens, if you can't do the totems and they have NoED then just break it at end game like many have suggested. If they end up having any other hexes then you'll also be better equipped to handle it than your teammates (most likely).
Break them when appropriate. Knowing when you should and shouldn't be breaking the totems is all about game sense.
