hatch needs to be removed
why do survivors get a free escape for losing the game?
if bhvr is just gonna hand out base kit perks for survivors to enforce the rule book hatch should be removed it would fix alot of issue with survivors sitting on hatch and stalling out the game because the killer must watch them leave.
thoughts?

Hatch exists so the game isn't held hostage. It's needed for that reason alone.
21 -
we have the endgame collapse for that
0 -
How will it be triggered (other than the gens)?
10 -
What do you mean? The killer finding hatch is what triggers end game collapse?
The point of hatch is to make it so that it ain't over until it's over. 1 survivor with 3 gens left, or both gates spawning in close proximity to one another is a guaranteed survivor loss? Why still keep playing and trying to escape if you're guaranteed to lose?
Admittedly hatch is not perfect but at least the survivor is running around trying to find it... instead of giving up entirely and sitting in a corner/locker until the crows get them...
Unless you want basekit sole survivor or something?

The hatch is there so that if the other three are dead and three gens are left, the survivor has a reason to actually play the game, and both of them have a reason not to drag the end of the game out.
11 -
simple once 3 survivors die it starts
1 -
Ah yes the good ol days of just hiding for 30+ mins till someone quit.
If people rage at waiting for a 4min bleed timer then they'll really love the endgame standoff.

So then what happens to give the last remaining survivor a chance to escape? Do the exits get powered automatically?
If the last remaining survivor doesn't have a viable escape route (and if they still need to repair gens it's not viable) then the game is over once the 3rd survivor is killed.
If the game is over once the 3rd survivor is killed, then the moment the 2nd survivor is killed, the remaining 2 survivors know they don't have a chance to escape, either they get found first and killed, or they don't get found first and don't have a viable escape route and still die. This causes the remaining 2 survivors to give up immediately. Or they troll until they inevitably die anyway, because they can't escape.
If the last 2 survivors always give up, or otherwise don't have a viable escape route, then every 2K becomes a defacto 4K. This means the end result of every game is either 0K, 1K or 4K. This grossly inflates kills rates, along with making tunnelling even more effective than it already is, which in turn leads to massive killer nerfs so that it becomes incredibly difficult to sacrifice more than 1 survivor in a given game (because if you sacrifice 2 survivors, you've automatically won).
The last remaining survivor has to have a viable escape option for the game to function, and by viable I mean 50% or there about, and that's what the hatch provides.
Powering the exits automatically instead could potentially work, but it has issues. For starters, the remaining survivor could prepare and start opening the exit the moment the 3rd survivor is sacrificed, this means they would have a head start on the killer, who now needs to choose between 2 exits, so it could still be a 50/50 chance anyway. But alternatively, if the survivor cannot make it to an exit gate before the killer has finished sacrificing the 3rd survivor, then it could be virtually impossible to get one open before the killer finds them. So you're either given a scenario that is no different to what we have (50/50), so why change it? or a hopeless scenario for the survivor.

"The last remaining survivor has to have a viable escape option for the game to function, and by viable I mean 50% or there about, and that's what the hatch provides." no they don't, survivors have enough 2nd chances as it and handhold perks and they're getting even more that's i'm suggesting to remove hatch lol

instead of a free esape it should be an chase for extra points no more hiding to open the gate or sitting in a locker for 2 minutes because u got bad gates would be a real good healthy option for the game. and stop players from wasting time with "watch me leave11" crap
0 -
that would kill soloQ
2 -
It's not counted as a win. They just get BP and the game ends. Survivors can "sit" on the hatch, though in my 2-3k hours, I've never seen them do that for longer than 10 seconds, but you can just find them and close it. It's a race for hatch on both sides, whoever finds it first deals with it.
If you don't want to wait that long, guess what? You can OPEN a gate and have EGC start.
1 -
hatch is fine
3 -
and the reason i bring this up is the snow flakes who think they won the game because they got hatch and for those ppl who wastes everyones time sitting on hatch instead of just leaving
1 -
hatch would be fine if survivors would JUST LEAVE but no they don't that so we just remove it if they aint gonna use it
0 -
>issue with survivors sitting on hatch and stalling out the game because the killer must watch them leave
Ah, found the real issue. Someone got mad because a surv found the hatch before them.
6 -
So, should we also remove exit gates? Survivors also just don't leave.
They wait there dancing
0 -
anyway, hatch and end game collapse are just outdated band aid fixes and i hope they re work it one day
0 -
you know they're there at the gate. so no the hatch on the other hand can spawn anywhere and survivors can just hide in a locker next to it and waste everyones time
0 -
Did you read the rest of my post that explains why the last survivor not having a viable escape route means the game is severely broken?
Do you want massive killer nerfs that make it practically impossible to down survivors? Because that's what you get if you remove the hatch and turn every game into a 4K after 2 deaths.
2 -
that's still a 2 minute waiting time that can be avoided with a rework waiting isn't good game desgin
0 -
i want less waitng and more gameplay that's why i said endgame collapse and hatch should be reworked
0 -
Counterpoint, bring back old hatch. 🤪
7 -
So how does your rework give the last survivor enough of a chance to escape that they won't just instantly give up and cause the same result I mentioned?
0 -
Survivors don't wait out on the hatch that often. Don't be a baby.
You're asking for fixes on a problem that do not exist. Cocky annoying people will always be annoying and cocky even with a time limit. Let it go and move on.
0 -
yes they do every other game
1 -
Find hatch force them out or close it if you find it first it's not hard.
Waiting at hatch or in the exit gate is the same thing.
Are you sure you're not crying about hatch because you can't get 4k's every match?
1 -
hatch is kinda a bad mechanic, but not having it would be far worse.
0 -
how about survivors lose the game after the killer wins? it's not hard to just take the L.
0 -
You haven't won after you've killed 3 survivors, you need to kill 4 survivors to win.
How about the killer loses after survivors repair 4 gens?
1 -
I'm all for removing hatch related perks and items so survivors don't set escaping through the hatch as a goal or consider it a win, but removing the hatch altogether would be a terrible idea unless you've got a grand idea that would fix the issues that @Seraphor mentioned, and on top of them I'd add that slugging for the 4k would also be even worse because the killer would know the last survivor will open the gates as soon as they pick up the downed survivor
Also, the only problematic camping on hatch there is are killers waiting on it. This means the survivor can't leave, they also can't open the gates or do anything but surrender because the killer is holding them hostage. If a survivor is waiting on hatch, you can just make them leave and it's a non-issue.

to be fair, a 3k IS a win.
its just not yet a loss for the last survivor.
0 -
Well yes I consider a 3K a win when I play killer, regardless of whether or not the survivor gets the hatch or I catch them and 4K. But TC clearly thinks only a 4K is a win, otherwise there would be no issue here.
1 -
hatch is bad game desgin delete now that's all i'm saying
0 -
What are you getting at now?
You're getting all worked up over not getting a 4k.
Breathe in, Breathe out
You're not suppose to 4k every match sometimes you have to take the L
Don't forget to breathe, very important.
1 -
another easy fix is the finisher mori bhvr already added to that one ptb that would soooo nice pls add
0 -
without it the game would become the most boring hide and seek youve ever witnessed, powered entirely by survivor spite.
There are better alternatives the game could have, but in lieu of those its kinda necessary.
2 -
Hatch is NOT WINNING. How many people need to tell you that? Put on an aura reading perk if have so much trouble finding 1 survivor and 1 hatch, and stop whining.
0 -
it's still a free esacpe

Here we go again

Hatches are really no bother at all. If you are a killer and want that 4k, then slug the 3rd and hunt the 4th. If you consider 3k a win, take it and play the final section. The hatch WAS a problem when people could just get a key and run away mid-trial, once it appeared. That's gone now.
Really, when it's down to 2 survivors, the killer chooses how to play it. Taking the chance of hooking the third to chase the fourth is down to them. Today, I hooked the 3rd amd then lost the hatch chase with another Yui, but I was completely okay with that because that was my choice. Own the decision you make.

Keeps the game alive for the survivors when being stomped. Last one alive gets a shot at redemption. Yeah it's annoying when one slips away, but taking the hatch out would lead to more dc's as survivors with a 1 way ticket to defeat have no point in sticking around for the rest of the match. The hatch is still a satisfying way to win, regardless how good/bad either side performed.
To summarise, awful idea.
1 -
If I find hatch I’m outta there quick as I can because I know the alternative. Not everyone is a jerk.
0 -
I believe it was determined that it is considered a draw for MMR purposes for that survivor, but the killer is considered a "win" even if a survivor gets out via hatch. But point still stands, its not a win.
0 -
It's meant to end the game and give survivors a reason to not tab out and watch youtube once they match is clearly unwinnable. You have won once it comes down to a hatch coinflip and outright only an idiot would think that getting hatch means you won.
0 -
Ok, then I assume you're ok with adding anti camp in endgame so killers cant get free kills for losing the game

most constructive forums comment ever

Hatch must be very hard for you to find, upwards of 10 mins. Map are huge after all.

give killers the ability to open gates (after some time has passed, even if there are more than 1 survivor), and survivors the ability to die on demand after being slugged/carried for some amount of time. boom, the problem is solved. i simply don't believe people genuinely think hatch is the only solution imaginable to fix such easy problems.

it's 7k now for an escape, and 2.5k extra in objective category. 500 extra if they are the obsession. and it's enough of a reason for some people to actually run left behind sole survivor and all that "i'll be a useless teammate" perks and play accordingly.
