I'm sorry but this steam price is pure greed
They are charging £8 or $10 for 1 character with 3 perks. Yeah they bundled in cosmetics as well but that's still a massive ripoff
You are either forced to buy auric cells or fork out extra for content you don't want. What the hell, BHVR.
If the increased price is because of the cosmetics, can you give us an option to buy on steam that doesn't have them included? Thanks.

So can you get him for the usual Auric Cells price or is he $10 this way or as an individual character in game?
He looked like a super fun, though gimmicky character and perks but I'm not sure I can justify $10 for what is ultimately a gimmick...
0 -
You can get him for 500 Auric Cells, which is around the same price for single-character Chapters.
If you buy the Chapter, you get a Very Rare cosmetic with it, but it's $10. I think that works out to about half price for the cosmetic which isn't a bad deal honestly.
8 -
You can get him for 500
But they 'bundled in' content for the steam store and are charging more for it. Thus forcing you to buy aurics if you don't want that extra content
Actively removing choices from the consumer
1 -
That's better at least, though I do agree with you Broken about removing the choice.
Hopefully it's something that was just overlooked or an accident and him individually SHOULD be there but just accidentally not launched.
0 -
I don't really see the issue to be honest. You can still get him for slightly cheaper than a regular single-character chapter or you can buy the character with discounted cosmetics.
1 -
removing consumer choice for no reason other than greed should not be normalised
4 -
You're really still on calling his perks subpar when they are all very usable.
5 -
I don't thinks its a problem on steam since you can just pay auric cells for 5 dollars or whatever it cost in other country on steam, the big problem is on consoles like Xbox since you have to pay 10 dollars so you can share with another account or else you pay 5 dollars to yourself and not other account holders if they wanted to try nick cage themselves

I don't have gripes with the idea of buying cells for characters
But when you are FORCED to do it in order to not get ripped off, that is not okay. BHVR has consistently put their DLC on steam for the same prices and now they are trying to pull this stuff in the hopes people just buy into it and don't question it despite the fact they are ripping you off
We shouldn't normalise companies taking options away from the consumer, it's bad enough they've been pulling the FOMO cosmetic stuff but now they're doing this as well. It might not seem like a big deal right now and maybe it isn't but watch - we become okay with this and the greed just gets worse.
1 -
Not to be a fan boy leap to defence, but I'm genuinely having trouble understanding your complaint.
You either buy the package, giving you the extra content at a heavily discounted rate (most costumes are about £8.20), or you pay £3.99 for Auric Cells and buy just the character using the games premium in game currency.
You've said having to use Auric Cells is a problem, but not stated why. How does it differ paying £3.99 for Auric Cells and buying Cage with those, in gsme vs. paying £3.99 for pack in the steam store labelled Nicholas Cage?
To label it "greed" when there is a clear straight forward method of buying the content at the same price as other similar products, and also offering a version with some extra content added in at a reduced price is rather disingenuous.
You need to explain your issue.
2 -
I've already explained it
BHVR has taken away an option from the consumer that was always there (Buying the DLC on steam for the same price). Now, that is not a thing for this DLC. You are FORCED to buy auric cells if you don't want to pay extra for content you don't want.
That is my complaint.

i somewhat agree, i do feel like that new chapters should definitely be at $10, but as time goes on, i feel like those chapters and previous chapters (flesh fo mud, halloween, etc) should deterioate by 25, 30, or 50%. being from $10 USD to $7.50 (-25%), $7.00 (30%), $5.00 (-50%). btw im not saying it should be a system of 25, 30, to 50% reduction, im saying that as time goes on it should be reduced by either 25%, 30%, or 50%. not all 3, but ONE of the 3.
1 -
Yeah I can see your point honestly
I know many people probably look at this and go "uh its not a big deal" but genuinely, I think this is once again BHVR testing the waters regarding what kind of business practice they can get away with.
2 -
Yes, but why are Auric Cells a problem?
You are still using your steam wallet for it regardless, my question to you is, how is £3.99 steam pack for Auric Cells different to a £3.99 Nicholas Cage steam pack in the steam store?
You are still paying for virtual content that doesn't exist outside the game either way.
3 -
I got a question for you
If it's not a big deal, why was buying just the DLC on steam option removed? Why do you think BHVR has taken a consumer choice away. Why do I need to pay extra for content i don't want, if i want to buy it on steam when I never had to do that before?
0 -
i mean hey, its business. companies as the years go by will continue getting greedier and greedier. if anything, im very lucky and grateful that BHVR hasn't gone this far yet with dbd. overwatch 2 for example, has only been getting their prices worse and worse. its $20 for a skin you can only see the hand of, like, come on man. at least for dbd and LoL you can see your cosmetics.
but thats just me, i just really hope BHVR doesn't force DBD to go down the path of blizzard and EA games.
0 -
Its already normalized in the industry, bruh. BHVR is just going with the norm now. With Cage on board, they can.
0 -
I fear that's the path they are going down, personally
Yeah I can see that tbh, the way people just don't give a damn and are just ok with it.
0 -
I agree with you there. But humans will be humans, and greed is more apart of us than is healthy with companies.
2 -
It was removed because its pointless?
If you can buy 500 Auric Cells, and the DLC costs 500 Cells in the in game store... why put a separate pack on each platform store for the same value?
You keep saying you don't have a choice but to buy the DLC with extras you don't want... except you can buy the DLC... with Auric Cells... for the same price the DLC for just the character would have cost...
Thus far your complaint is "I only want the character, but I want a stea. store item just for that character so I can buy that from the steam store, because I don't want to use Auric Cells for some reason"
I'm beginning to wonder if you're trying some kind of steam refund trick, and can't do it Auric Cells.
3 -
holy hell that is some mental gymnastics if I've ever seen them.
I liked to buy the DLCS on steam, it's was the way I prefered to do it. I liked having them in my steam library and now if I want to continue that I have to pay extra, for content I do not want. I should not be forced to buy a 3rd party currency to buy something I used to be able to just buy from my prefered store
I appreciate the baseless accusation, it just goes to show you can't actually defend the practice. Grow up.
0 -
I want to buy it from Steam, not in game.
And now, BHVR is forcing me to buy costume which i don't want. I want to buy NORMAL DLC, not PACK.
They did not add dlc, they added PACK which forces you to buy aurics or pay more if you want Steam version.
1 -
Excellent, finally you said it.
It isn't that it's COSTING you more, it's that you personally have a preference where you don't like buying in game currency. That is your complaint, and not an entirely unreasonable one. I personally don't see a difference because virtual content is virtual content, you never own any of it. You merely rent it, but I can see your point.
However my point is, "greed" is not a fair criticism here. There is nothing in you statements thus far, that justify calling BHVR greedy. You are being forced to use a currency system you don't like. That should be complaint.
Apologies for the accusation, however it was getting frustrating getting what you actually meant out of you.
2 -
It is greed, there's no other reason to remove options from the consumer
Until BHVR comes out and tells us the reason, I am going to assume greed because BHVR has a track record of being a greedy company.
Disagree if you want, that's fine I'm not gonna baselessly accuse you of anything because I'm capable of having a conversation.
0 -
If BHVR would have gone their usual route with Survivor-Only Chapters (like Ash and Mikaela), Nicolas Cage would have gotten at least one OP-Perk which will be nerfed into the ground after some time. And then there would be a big tantrum by Killer Mains on this Forum. Aka this would also not please people.
I just think that BHVR does not really have full control over the costs for this DLC.
0 -
The skin is still cheaper when you buy it with the chapter. 5 euro for the DLC and 5 euro for a skin. In the ingame store the skin costs 10 euro.
But I agree that it is a bit strange.
3 -
It should've been $5 like the other single character chapters, and also make a separate bundle that includes the cosmetics for people that want something more.
1 -
Even if it is more cheaper than buying a chapter and cosmetics from in-game store, there was no reason to include store skins in DLC.
1 -
*Offers a discount deal*
"This is pure greed trying to entice people to buy your product"
3 -
I wanted to buy the DLC on steam and I can't do that without paying for content I don't want
Doesn't seem like a discount to me, seems like a ripoff for the sake of extra profit
0 -
So buy the auric cells? What's the difference?
It's not like there's an awkward amount. It's $5 for 500 AC, which is the cost of the character.
1 -
If there's no difference, why was buying just the DLC for the same price on steam option removed?
Why should we be forced to buy a third party currency if we don't want to be ripped off?
These are questions I'm holding out on getting an answer to.
0 -
You're not getting ripped off. You're getting exactly the same deal for exactly the same price. You're complaining that your receipt is printed on a different colour paper.
3 -
No, I am complaining because every other DLC you can buy on steam for the same price but now apparently that's not the case
Why? Greed. Unless you can offer a reasonable alternative explanation why the consumer has had options limited when it's completely against how it's always been. Every other solo character DLC was sold for the same price, on steam without any added costs so...
Why?
0 -
Steam: $4.99 usually
Auric Cells: $5
Oh no, one cent, such unfathomable greed.
3 -
???
Nicolas cage DLC is £7.99/$9.99 on steam and there's no option to buy it without the added cosmetics which are the reason the price was hiked up
What are you talking about
0 -
You know exactly what I'm talking about but I've edited to help you understand.
1 -
I still don't get your point
If people want to buy the chapter on steam, they can't do it without paying extra for content they might not want in the first place, hence why it's a ripoff. Every other chapter before this was available for purchase on steam by itself, why should this one be any different? What's the reason?
0 -
Why do you need it on Steam? It costs the same anyway?
Usual price of single character on Steam: $4.99
Usual price of single character via Auric Cells: $5
Usual price of single character and a rare cosmetic via Auric Cells: $15 minimum
Cost of Nick Cage DLC with rare cosmetic on Steam: $9.99 ($5.01 saving)
Cost of Nick Cage via Auric Cells: $5 (exactly the same as every other single character DLC)
No one is getting ripped off.

First of, hilarious that you'd bring up OCD - mind your own damn business about other people's mental issues yeah
Second of all, you can say oh it's the same it's the same but you're not answering the key question here, IF there is no difference why are we not allowed to buy the DLC on steam then?
Also thirdly, maybe people like family sharing DLCs? Maybe people like having all of their purchases in one place? Maybe some people don't want to be FORCED into buying a third party online service currency in order to not get ripped off?
End of the day, taking options away from customers for no apparent reason isn't okay and I'm kinda tired of pretending it is lmao
0 -
"Hey, let's offer a half-price cosmetic. Surely no one can complain about that..."
3 -
Yeah nice argument, I can do this too
"Hey, instead of letting people buy the DLC for the usual price - let's bundle in a cosmetic they might or might not actually care about and hike up the price! That way they either have to buy OUR currency auric cells or they have to pay us extra to have it on steam! It's a win win! We also screw over those dirty family sharing freeloaders!"
Proves nothing, though lol.

I still don't understand why you can't just buy it with Auric Cells? Get over your irrational fear of Auric Cells, it's exactly the same price.
1 -
Fella I've bought auric cells before, the issue is that you are FORCED to buy auric cells if you don't want to get ripped off. How do you not understand the issue of taking a previously well established choice for a consumer away?
Because it doesn't effect you?
Because in your mind there's no difference, yet you can't explain why the change was made in first place?
Like genuinely, I don't get what you stand to gain from defending this in the first place, you clearly don't care about it - which is fine you don't have to at all I respect that.
0 -
I don't understand your complaints. He is either 10 bucks including the cosmetic or 500AC (=5 bucks) in the store without.
What is your problem with buying 500AC? There is literally a package just for that and you have no leftovers too.
Your reason "I don't want to buy AC" does not make any sense. It is not like you are charged extra or that you have AC left after you bought him.
2 -
My reason isn't "I don't want to buy auric cells"
My reason is "I'm annoyed that I don't have the choice i used to have before, for seemingly greed releated reasons"
Please understand the key difference here.
1 -
What I stand to gain from defending this is the satisfaction of calling out irrational complaints, and the possibility that you might see sanity.
0 -
I'm not the one who's resorted to attack's on people's character over opinions though, that's you
I've respected every opinion you've had even if I disagree with you. You seem to have this misconception people different from you are irrational and have OCD/don't have sanity lmfao
jesus

I mean, calling a discount offer "pure greed" is pretty extreme and inflammatory.
"Here have cheap stuff" "NO! I want it full price, you're so greedy!"
3 -
How is it a discount if there's no alternative for buying the DLC on my prefered platform (steam)?
