If the game is matching a brand new player with a P100 player it's an MMR issue not a Prestige issue. MMR doesn't involve Prestige so "show me your prestige so I can dodge" isn't a fix therefore your argument is invalid.
The more realistic scenario that happens often is killers lobby-shopping until they come across a P0 Claudette to stomp on and they are the type of players who would defend against hiding prestige.😉 This also ruins the game for the brand new Claudette but you would rather see the topic from a perspective that serves you only.

And do you know why you end up in those Lobbies?
Because a Killer who would have been appropiate for this Lobby dodged it before you. Now you, as a every inexperienced player, get backfilled into this Lobby because it prioritizes queue times over fair Matchmaking.
Oh, and btw. if you only have 70 hours, you should switch the Content Creator. Having Newbie-Killers talking about Bully Squads is really weird.

This feature is only for pre-game lobbies. I could still see the prestige of everyone during scoreboard chat. It’s a tool to prevent dodging lobbies for both sides basically.

Again, thank you lots Mandy! Feeling comfortable playing whatever survivor I want to play regardless of their prestige is something I’ve wanted for so long. Looking forward to what the “player cards” mentioned during the Anniversary stream will be like, the idea got me so curious!

Same! I feel so weird not having to wait 5 minutes in lobby and the killer just instantly readys up.😭 I'm so used to expecting a couple of killers to pass by.

Read what the dev said in the comments. It’s something being tested among some players only to get feedback and check how impactful it is, etc. And there is need to hide prestige, you can read the reason why here in the comments section from people who have found themselves being targeted in some way or another due to prestige, or have been dodged often.

I hope the feature becomes a permanent one. And I think killers who lobby dodge will stop feeling anxious after some time and simply play the game. I guess some will be angry, but is there anything everyone agrees on anyway?

I hope you guy stick with this change. It will make lobbies faster due to less dodging and will reduce high prestige players being targeted.

Why should they wait longer? It has been in the game for ages that you could not see Ranks (back when they existed) for the very same reason they want to hide prestige now: People judged you by what Rank you were like they do now with prestige.
As high prestige Survivor: "Meh, they are only prestige 3, I don't want to play with noobs" (leaves lobby)
As killer: "What a sweat feast... P100, P87, P97 and P80. Probably swf and toxic." (leaves lobby)
Or alternatively they tunneled and/or camped you as P100.
I know that because it happened to me multiple times. And I wasn't being a toxic player or anything. Not even a character who is considered toxic or tryhard like Nea or Feng. I am a Jeff Main. They just targeted me because I am a P100.
I can't wait for this to stop, so I can finally play my main again without placing a giant target on my back.

Only the hackers are an issue. But tbh with you unless you are extremely good, you will face maybe 1 hacker in about half a year. They all hang out at top MMR.
The rest you can deal with. Believe me. I play this game long enough.

6.5k hrs here. I have ONE P100 (Jeff). Why? I play both sides and have all characters, so every chapter I spend at least 6mil to get all new perks on everyone. Then, sometimes I level up to P6 or P9.
My next characters prestige wise are Wesker (P63) and Leon/Chris (P31)

As someone who has over 6.5k hrs and a P100 Jeff.... Yeah, I get dodged often (or camped & tunneled).

I play now for 3 month's and I already reported at least 10.
It's just frustrating if i think about to get constantly wrecked if I can't avoid SWF or people with 400+ hours. That's why im hoping for an fair matchmaking if this gets fixed im 100% for y'all opinion. To avoid those lobbies isn't fun at all and not my type of gaming.

I want prestige to be hidden, so I can play my main Jeff again without getting targeted. It has been like this since I got him to P100 about half a year ago.
I really don't care about prestige when I play killer.

Now I'm curious. You seem to be new. Are you sure those 10 players did actually hack? Usually it's just something you missed. Like an addon, perk or even just a crow that let them see you?
Because I know from experience that if you have good intuition as killer you will be called a hacker. And I also had someone accuse me of hacking because they thought Adrenaline only activates when the exit is open.
About swf: you will say that until you face a full soloq group that takes you apart. Or even 2 duos. Not all swf are sweaty.
Hours mean nothing. I have 6.5k hrs. Do I play like a god? No. Am I completely sweaty? No. I just want to have a great time with one or two friends of mine. I have seen people with 1k hrs to play like newbies and people with 200 hrs play like gods. If you restrict matchmaking to hrs, people will use smurf accounts.
Prestige just shows how efficient you are at grinding. It took me 9 months to get my main to P100 while playing almost daily. Now I am working on my next.
To avoid players like you dodging me over and over until just the try hard Blight remains, I played another character for the last 6 months.
Matchmaking is worse since they changed it from Ranks to this MMR. Welcome to the full dbd experience.

If someone kills all 4 survs within a minute, if someone fly around the map, if someone gets hit 6 times in a row and loose no health state or exit the gate with no gens done that's hacking yes.
I don't know about the exact matchmaking/MMR stuff i only can give you a feedback of what i experience. And as i said if at least 2-3 survs are P50+ it's just torture for me. I would love to get a fair round against them but getting bullied by sandbagging/flashlighting/body blocking people bcs they don't want to play properly it's just trash. And sadly i never met a fair playing swf squad..
I'm pretty bad but i love this game so much. As killer i get from 10 round's maybe 1 x 4k and 4-6 rounds with 0 kill. Im still learning so much about this game but those rounds are just pulling my enthusiasm back.

I booted up my game to be pleasently surprised I was included in this test and I really hope this gets pushed to everyone. We don't need to see Grades, or Prestiges in Pre-Game Lobby. Please and thank you BHVR! <3

I’m so glad this is being implemented as a P100 Steve main I refused to switch bc killers/survivor were jerks to me, I just took it. I’m glad this will help me not feel harassed, I had a killer purposely not play the game only brought rancor and game a foot to make me the obsession to kill me at the end specifically for P100, didn’t play all game just waited til last gen as by default I was the obsession. It’s not a fun experience I had hoped the reason for being targeted for rancor was not bc P100 but I was wrong. I’ve been called names bc I don’t meet the expectation of being a P100, you know the kind that sweats every game or never has an off game lmao please this change is long over due.

Don’t worry Chibi, most of us with p100 survivors can relate to what you said. This hidden prestige feature will definitely do wonders to EVERYONE: p100 survivors can play naturally and regularly without concerns of getting targeted due to the prestige level they have and people who are worried of facing p100 survivors will realize that they can beat p100 survivors the same way they can beat p3 survivors, or also lose the same way if they lobby shop the other way around, because it’s just a number! Huge W and can’t wait for everyone to get this feature!

Prestige targeting isn't a real thing. People either dodge high prestiges or don't care.

Sure thing mate. That’s why I have gotten “nice p100” after getting hard focused and moried in scoreboard chat and if you search on youtube you can see plenty of videos surrounding p100 lobbies and can see how seeing that in the lobby conditions how they’ll play during the match. Your experience might not be everybody else’s, remember always that :). Also, lobby dodging is meant to be prevented with this new feature. Both sides should not get any information about the enemy side before the game, killers could just see the survivors for the gimmick of them (killer) stalking the survivors at the campfire and that’s it.

Lmaoo I have been targeted for being p100, killer brought specific perks for me and didn’t play the game properly; huntress camped me and tunneled me, when she hooked my 3rd hook she dc’d I was the only one that got hooked and she focused me, targeting for prestige is real lmao

Prestige doesn’t equal skill. Solely for this misconception of it, it’s good that they will hide it soon. It conditions players when the point of it was never that.

What you're missing is that the primary reason new players get P100 opponents is because the P100s were lobby dodged by killers the matchmaking system matched them with. Eventually the game prioritises queue time over matchmaking, and backfills the position. So the fault lies with the more experienced killer who decided they wanted to try find easier survivors and lobby dodged. So if prestige is hidden, lobby dodging should lessen, and the likelihood of new killers getting experienced survivors should decrease.

I mean that's true, I know a prestige 30 who is.. (not saying anything but..) but for the most part high prestige players typically means a higher skill level, so wouldn't it be good to know who you're up against or with.

No it would not be good. Lobby dodging and shopping is one of the reasons MMR is not as accurate as it could be since the system has the priority of shorter queue times over similar skill level. As a killer it’s unfair to get information from the survivors prior to the game and get an pre-game strategy based on that, and as a solo/non premade survivor it’s unfair for those who get dodged for looking like babies or whatever. Going into the trial fully blind is the best for the sake of queue times and better match making.

OK those are definitely hackers. The amount of those depends on your MMR and region. Maybe I am lucky with both, I don't know.
As a veteran I can only give you the advice to try and counter flashlight or bully squads.
Sandbagging happens accidentally. Yesterday I sandbagged another player 2 times because I wanted to tank a hit because the killer was tunneling hardcore. Taking hits is a normal part of the game and not toxic or anything. It is very normal team play. Sure it can be annoying, especially if you have worked your behind off to get 1 kill and then that happens. Yeah. I know that feeling too. But that's the game.
Flashlight squads can be countered by knowing what they want to do: flashlight saves. It takes a lot of concentration to beat them and a beginner might really struggle with them but they are quite predictable. Lightborn (from Billy) would be a quick and dirty solution, but not one you want to go for all your dbd life. You have to be creative and very attentive to beat those groups. Fake a pick-up, hear for footsteps, do not get baited, be aware of CJ-techs (look that up if you don't know what that is) etc.
Often these people are very altruistic and that is what you can use against them.
I faced such a "bully squad" with about 21k hrs combined (2 players with 7k) when I was at about 4k hrs with mostly survivor play. What did I do? Play dumb, bait them into thinking they had the advantage, that I was a noob they could easily beat. They clicked at me the whole time (don't get mad about that, as that's what they want), t-bagged etc. In the end I got 3 of them, because I baited them into doing a CJ-tech. the salt in chat was delicious.
So long story short: you can beat those squads with patience and a bit of knowledge.

No it isn't. I have a P100 Jeff and a P32 Leon/Chris on survivor side and a P63 Wesker. I haven't really played with Jeff since I P100ed him because I just get dodged all the time until a sweaty Blight remains. All other survivors I have are between P3 and P10. If I would play with one of those, you would never guess that I have 6.5k hrs. At least if you are not on Steam and are not checking my profile.
Prestige =/= Skill
It just shows you the player's favourite characters and how efficient they are at BP farming. The first P100s that existed were a 4man team who farmed together and they were always switching to killer if they had the bonus on killer. It took them 2-3 months if I remember correctly. And then there was a guy who had someone else play for him while he was asleep.

It has become a joke of me and my friends how many killers will pass by when I load into a lobby with my P100 Jeff. If they are instantly out, they left because of P100, if it takes a while for them to leave, they have seen my Steam profile and did not like the amount of hours they saw there 😅.
If they stay they either don't care or want to tunnel/camp me so they can brag about it.

I also had other survivors call me names or what not because I was not the God they were looking for.
It is somewhat funny that people expect you to be a god once you have a certain amount of hrs or a certain prestige level.

The only thing this will achieve is making people go back to the old system of lobby shopping, which was to check Steam profiles for hours played/friendlists for SWFs/dodge all Private profiles.

I'm happy about hiding Prestiges and all, but I don't see it being very effective unless they're hidden for everyone and not just a lucky few.

Mandy (dev) literally said in the comments here that it’s a feature being tested still and the team wants to collect feedback before they release it for everybody (because it might also have some tweaks of some kind.) If it’s a success and people like it they will implement it for everybody.

People still do it anyways, don’ you worry about that. More people will play anon mode too. People just want to play this game without feeling targeted and stalked, they just want to vibe and do their thing. I hope they also add anon mode for everybody during the pre-game lobby like League of Legends has for example (people get a jungle camp name until the loading screen happens), and then people can have their profiles displayed during the game and end-game chat if they want. Note this @Mandy 👀

High prestige doesn't equal "skill" but it equals experience, and having the "experience" to know map tiles and how to chain them, how to shutdown killer powers, knowing where gens spawn etc etc is a skill in of itself.
Theres no denying that a P100 with 1k hours in the game will be an overall better player than a P3 with 100 hours.
Personally I enjoyed getting high prestige lobbies so I could improve and learn loops significantly faster as killer tbh, aint no fun in curb stomping fresh installs that just hold shift W.

P100 Steve 5K hours, sorry I wasn’t having fun but the P10 survivor did the same thing I did (give up on hook) but I’m the only one getting flack bc I’m the high prestige okay.. it’s ridiculous how high of a standard players put you at lmaoo let me play the memes let me play for fun, I’m not trying to sweat I just want to have fun 😩
