Nurse nerf - 1 blink max as basekit

Let's be honest, really good nurses can easily get you with just 1 blink, while you're in chase. Them having a 2nd blink as a backup feels too much to me. It's EZ mode with hack, in a way.

I hate facing a really good nurse, there is almost nothing I can do against her. Sometimes I can avoid the 1st blink by juking her, which feels really good, and then I inevitably get hit by her 2nd blink, which allows her to correct any mistakes. 2nd blinks are a fullproof way of a nurse securing a loss of health state for a survivor. Since she is a killer that completely ignores walls, pallets and windows, this is really unfair.

I love facing nurses on my level, because I can do something against them. I can actually juke, and have chases that last for longer than 5 seconds (the same applies to my teammates). Even if I end up dying, I still feel quite good, because I was able to dodge hits by juking her. On the contrary, being unable to do anything against a god nurse feels awful, and is just a proof of a bad killer design.

Of course, even those nurses that are on my level can get better, but then they're on a god level and are unfair and unfun to go against.

I honestly feel that limiting Nurse to a 1 blink max (no addons being able to increase this) would be a huge balancing help against this killer. Great nurses playing with 2 blinks is like a child's playground for them. Having only 1 blink would actually add some challenge to them, as well as offer counterplay for us against them.

I feel like if there would be any compensation for the removal of 1 blink, that could be an extended lunge range after a blink, as basekit.

I think we don't see the matchbox because having 2 blinks is much better. But if the Nurses would be forced to have only 1 blink, I'm sure they would get used to it, and still be good.

Similarly how people used to run dead hard much more over any other exhaustion perk. It was that much more better than the rest. As long as there's an option that provides a much better experience, people will tend to ignore the other options.

By that I wanted to say that I love playing against Nurses who are on my level, because it's a fair match. But I would say that at least 80% of Nurses I go against are gods who demolish both me and the rest of my team. If only I went down in 5 seconds, but my teammates lasted for at least 30, then I would conclude that it's about me. But me and my team play approximately equally well/bad against a nurse, then I can only conclude that the Nurse is really good and having a too good of a time playing against basically no counterplay.

The problem is that the rare nurses that are on my level will eventually reach the level where they are both unfair and obnoxious to play against. With a proper Nurse nerf (doesn't have to be what I suggested in this post), I would never again have to be in a position where both me and my team are just dying like crazy against a Nurse. We would be able to do something .

I'll chock that up to dbd having the worst mmr system. if a nurse on your level is fun to play against, as in one of equal skill, then nurse is clearly not the issue here. The game is matching you with people you aren't capable of beating.

I understand where you're coming from, but you must also be aware that the 2nd blink basically removes all counterplay against her, if she's really good. You can dodge Nemesis, Wesker, or Pyramid Head, but the 2nd blink from the Nurse? Good luck with that. Unless you're a top tier survivor, it ain't gonna happen.

I really don't find it enjoyable when me and my teammates are all just going down like crazy. No fun at all. Even if the removal of the 2nd blink isn't a good solution, another solution needs to found. At least, in my opinion.

You are definitely right about that. I only play solo q as survivor, and I die more than 90% of my matches, I would say. Be it a strong killer opponent, someone suiciding on hook, or DC-ing (it's got better with bots though). And I still regularly get matched against very strong nurses and blights. It sucks so much. I love playing against Nurse and Blights who are on my level. But yeah, I'm usually matched against much better opponents than me. God Nurses and God Blights.

Sure it does. Unless you are caught in the open. and are relatively close to her (maybe 10m?) then she will need to use one blink to see you, and the other to land the hit. If the survivor is breaking LOS then she will be forced to play with 1 blink to land the hit for the most part, so she needs incredibly good muscle memory and prediction to land it. In this situation she doesnt have the second blink to fall back on, so she can be countered. general mindgaminess can also make her whiff the LOS blink entirely, losing massive distance. And once you are 19m away from her, W keying away is broken af as she will take a stupid amount of time to reach you. I think thats two or three outplays to escape her killzone. I find that nurse has a good amount of counterplay, but she doesnt interact with regular game mechanics as much as she should. My solution is to bring back stun-fatigue and every form of lightburn that affected her. Thats 2 or 3 more forms of counterplay without even touching her blinks.

Yeah, but I also see streamers have miserable times against Nurses. So the impressions are that maybe there's a problem with Nurse herself too 🤪 I do hope that they fix MMR though. It's definitely unfair and broken right now...

I don't really main anyone, but I love Jonah. He is adorable and has really good cosmetics imo (thankfully) <3 I do play him a lot, and there is a special place in my heart for him just because people are spreading lies about him and hating him unreasonably. I basically play all of the survivors, but more the male ones. Jonah is one of my favorites, and I was considering going for P100 with him, but went with Ace first (P53 right now) 'cause UwU. Jonah is definitely a candidate for my next P 100 though! It's also really nice seeing you have him in your profile picture as well :D

Really good points, thank you! Very helpful.

Also YES, I would love the stun fatigue back! Oh my god, one of my favorite things in the game is juking a Nurse at a pallet, and then slamming it onto her. It's so enjoyable, but it sucks that I usually can't get much distance after that, before she recovers from the stun.

if the base speed is 4.4 m/s I agree. The iri addon can be replaced by increasing the base speed to 4.6 or an additional blink with a speed penalty of up to 3.8

So you have no counterplay anymore? Keep in mind that blocking line of sight does only work against nurse because she is slower than survivors and needs the blink to catch up, if this necessity is gone you have nothing more than walking nurse until safe blink, that would be horrible gameplay on both sides.

I do understand that the Nurse is a powerful killer, and that no one can control the Nurse with the Hand of God.

But don't forget that there are 4 survivors.

While someone is chasing from nurse, their distance and blink timing is obvious to other survivors.

If the two people in the chase interrupt someone from repairing the generator, that information will be shown in the UI.

This means that any survivor has a chance to safely repair the generator, and can do so as long as they are not lazy.

Nurse attacks by blinking once or twice, but by making her miss twice in total, you can buy more than 40 seconds even if she goes down.

Calculating the time to search for the enemy and the time to carry and hook survivors, this provides enough time to repair the generator.

In addition to this, by learning basic rescue techniques, survivors can try to avoid being onhooked continuously.

From the above perspective, in my experience, in half of the games excluding the top 50 nurses, the gate will be energized by the time one or two people are sacrificed.

If your opponent is a nurse of God, it's natural that you can't win because your opponent is good at it.

If you make her 115%, then it might work... but I highly doubt you would want to do that...

have you played with this addon? I played and I know what I'm talking about. she doesn't get weaker, she becomes more interesting, because you don't know if she will blink or come up and hit at a speed of 4.4-4.6

If a Nurse is able to get you with just 1 blink, the problem is on you. Learn how to loop her instead of complaining about how OP she is.

I did not say she becomes weaker, but it's just not good gameplay. You can just only blink when needed for a hit, there is no need to blink for mobility except for multi stage maps... How is that more interesting anyway? She has no counterplay anymore, blocking line of sight is useless since she does not need to blink to reach you.

Could we see some of your nurse gameplay but share some with you only using 1 blink not the 2nd would love to see it :)

One-Blink Nurse is never going to happen. You need to ask for something else.

You have to be running in a STRAIGHT line to be hit by Nurse with a single blink in chase (for the most part).

While it seems a good nerf on paper, Nurse would become the new Hillbilly. Too punishing to play for fun, too hard to play for the win... it'd totally kill her.

Nurse is actually in a pretty fair spot, after her recent nerfs. Her issue is her counterplay is unique to her, so you dont get to practise it against anyone but her, so is really hard to learn. However any old school survivors will tell you that Nurse is pretty much fine nowadays if you know what you're doing.

The only nerf she needs now is stuns should reset her blinks to zero. This would make Head On, Decisive, Flashlight saves and even those rare pallet hits actually do more than just swat the hornets nest.

The last nerf to nurse was her buff. those who didn't play with trickster perks didn't even feel the nerf

  • Archol123
    Archol123 Member Posts: 4,634

She got all her good addons removed: Range, Recharge and so on. Now she has like 3-4 usefull addons. It is not even comparable how much stronger her previous addons made her. Also Sloppy, Jolt and all the other m1 perks don't work on her anymore, it is much more than just tricksters perk.

How exactly did she get buffed?

  • Pavel_Ch
    Pavel_Ch Member Posts: 241

yeah, yeah. only she now has a hit of 1 mile and exhaustion has been accelerated so that even dodging the hit you can’t run far. don't talk nonsense please, it needs reworking, period

  • Pavel_Ch
    Pavel_Ch Member Posts: 241

I'm keeping quiet about the addon that turns her into a camping monster. this is when she can go back to the hook after 2 blinks and do them again

  • xltechno
    xltechno Member Posts: 1,026

No one would argue that the Nurse is a killer who kills the survivors faster than anyone else.

But if you think she shouldn't be in the game, you're making a big mistake.

When the Nurse and you are evenly matched, you should be able to maintain a chase with the Nurse for close to 40 seconds.

If you have better skills than the nurse, it will take more than a minute.

That's enough time to make the match survivor's victory.

  • Archol123
    Archol123 Member Posts: 4,634

What are you even talking about? First of all I said nothing about a need to rework or not, but it is obviously a nerf not a buff. Wow 30% longer lunge is so much better than range addons... Yeah sure, and what do you even mean by exhaustion accelerated? Even the addon the reduced her fatigue got nerfed to 7 instead of 12 % and nobody used it before anyway? I have no clue what exactly you are adressing here. So maybe you should stop talking nonsense and refer to some addons instead of whatever this is...

  • Archol123
    Archol123 Member Posts: 4,634

Yes one of her few good addons. But before that with double range she could most likely camp even better...

take a deep breath and drink some green tea. the majority voted for its rework, we are discussing how best to do it

    Archol123 Member Posts: 4,634

Great, still how was her last nerf a buff? that's what I am currently talking about, after you stated that, so I don't care about the majority in this case, this is all about your statement and your inability to defend it.
