Why not implement ranked mode?
I don't have a goal. Your grade will improve if you have time. The same goes for Prestige. I want to compete with others. For example, how good am I at Regions in the world? What is the Survivor ranking in the world?

There's no ranked mode, because DBD isn't that serious of a game for the general playerbase.
If you want to take DBD more seriously there is a competitive scene where tournaments are set up and ran in customs.

Well, I hope you at least get matched with players of the same level. Why should I be matched with a novice survivor, work for a novice survivor, and be executed for a novice survivor? And vice versa. I'm not good at Huntress, so why should I play against a skilled Prestige 100 team and lose? Is MMR a joke?

I think we'd probably end up with worse matchmaking for everyone on top of longer queues because ranked would split the matchmaking pool in two

Many people always start with denial. That's a guess and we won't know until we test it. They need to try new things to make matchmaking better. Also, if you can't split the queue into two, MMR should work properly.

If they did a ranked mode it'll probably be worse then what we have now
But if they did a Team Rating it might be better
Also it might lead people to come back and play if they did
If the game has turned into "meta" V "meta" how can it be casual?

Since MMR isn't optional, the only mode is ranked. You can play ranked Survivor, ranked Killer, or customs.

We don't need to test it to know players being split would mean longer and less accurate matchmaking because there's less players for the system to choose from.
Also I fail to see how adding a ranked mode would make matchmaking better in any way, SBMM is implemented so we are already ranked, it's just that our number is invisible.

In addition to the splitting of the playerbase problem already mentioned by others, what would prevent the sweats from invading the casual side, intending to stomp?

People wildly underestimate the time investment required to be viable in the comp DbD scene. I was putting in 30+ hours a week in playtime just to place top 8 in 64 team tournaments. That's not reasonable for most people post-lockdowns. I think most of the more competitive players are just asking for a system that isn't downright antagonistic towards players with that mindset.

Is SBMM implemented? Are you serious about that? So why am I matching Prestige 100 survivors on Huntress, which I barely play? Why would a survivor who has played the game for 9000 hours be matched with a survivor who has played the game for 15 hours? Why are the other survivors crouching at the edge of the map after a 3 minute chase? What I really want to say is the normal functioning of MMR. Is it correct to say that you all think that the current chaotic match between beginner players and experienced players is the correct answer?

Yes, the current system is SBMM. It certainly has its flaws but the biggest issues are due to backfilling because of dodging and lack of enough players of similar skill. Therefore, adding a whole separate queue would just worsen all the problems.
And it's not because people don't want a ranked mode that they're happy and satisfied with the current matchmaking, we just don't want it to be worse.

Your MMR is similar across all of your killers, kinda like an average. This is because as an experienced killer you (hopefully) won't be matched with newbies as you understand the basics of gameplay.
The matchmaking issues are as others have stated, due to backfilling from lobby shopping.

DBD mobile has ranked. It will probably happen at some point.
