Please tell me how to counter flashlight saves
Because I can literally stand flush against a wall, looking straight at it, and a survivor at a 90 degree angle to me can still blind and stun me. I'm doing exactly what everyone says to do to counter flashlights, and it doesn't work. Why won't the devs fix this?

Can’t help you if you don’t share video.

There are 3 commonly accessible ways to counter flashlights.
1) Stare at a wall. You do that already, so that's good. It means you have gotten used to looking out for it. But it's also important to press yourself as close to the wall as you can. That way, the survivor has much less of an angle to blind you from. Unfortunately there are some situations where the game will do a funny and you still get blinded. I am not sure how exactly this is caused but for the most part flashlights work fine and you won't be blinded when you press yourself close to a wall.
2) Get rid of the flashlight. That doesn't mean you have to destroy it but it can help to check around corners or other possible hiding spots when you saw someone had a flashlight. Often enough, it will suffice to just chase after them for a bit, maybe get an easy hit let them make distance and then go back to the other survivor. They will not make it back in time to blind you.
There is an alternative way, to get a survivor out of their hiding spot, which is just walking and checking spots for a few seconds and when it looks like you're sure nobody else is around you go back to the survivor on the ground and just look down on them. You don't pick them up, you just look down. Because survivors do not have an infinite amount of time to get a flashlight save, they will try to get into position early on. This leads to them coming out of their hiding spot when you stand there and pretend to pick up. Now you just follow the same steps from above and you should be fine.
3) If nothing else helps, there is still Lightborn (teachable perk of the Hillbilly). Lightborn is not a super good perk and I wouldn't recommend it unless there are at least 3 flashlights in your lobby but it does the job perfectly fine and chances are that a group with this many flashlights will do everything for a few flashlight saves. If you pretend like you just countered the flashlights with the strategies above, it will be really hard to tell and they'll keep trying that, wasting so much time that you can still win.
Also, when someone shines a flashlight on you, always make sure to look down (as well as it's not happening on a staircase). For some reason it is easier to blind a killer that looks at a survivor from an angle or up in the sky. But if you look all the way down, you can see from where the light is coming from, so you won't lose them, while not being vulnerable to the blind.
Hope this helps. See you in the fog.

I like the idea that the killer's view themselves as a close knit group and they all refuse to close their eyes because they don't want the Doctor to be excluded.

This.
Share video, so we can see what you were doing wrong.
Flashlights are very much counterable items and they are my fav items to go against. Because survivor with flashlight is always giving me free hits, sometimes free downs.

I run Lightborn if I see even one flashlight in the lobby, or sometimes if I see a bunch of survivors without items (since that often means they're going to equip a flashlight last second). People get mad about it or say things like "why are you afraid of a flashlight, just look at a wall" but as OP has discovered, that doesn't work very well when you can get blinded through the side of your head. Hell, flashbangs can blind you even if they're behind you and you're looking up.

You're right. Sorry. Don't know how I mixed them up. I'll change my post accordingly.
Thanks for telling me.

Sometimes you just can´t counter them.

use lightborn. the more killers realize that flashlights are broken and seizure inducing the more killers will use lightborn. at that point one of two things will happen. either bhvr fixes the flashlights (which is unlikly) or theyll just nerf lightborn

It's been an issue for so long now I almost half expect to be blinded even if I was standing in a corner flush up against 2 walls picking a survivor up. Only real way to counter it is lightborn or make sure you check the area before pick up. Chances are if you have a few flashlights in the lobby you're going to get at least one survivor following you around the map. If you get one problem survivor just tunnel them out the game.
Franklins is pretty good also, especially when you get the type of survivor that will blatantly stand in you face when you down someone. It's actually hilarious watching survivors run in for the save when you hit them and pick up straight away. They don't even realise the torch isn't in their hand anymore.
