Please don't gut STBFL.
M1 killer player here who usually plays M1 killers. Myers main specifically. Please don't gut this perk. This perk allows you to play a regular attack killer more smoothly and makes it feel less punishing with how much distance a survivor gets from you. My favorite build is Corrupt, Deadlock, STBFL, PWYF with Myers.
What is the specific reason this perk is getting looked at? For camping with stacks? I'd like to get an idea of why this perk is being looked at. Many agree it helps the weak M1 killers feel more playable. Stop taking more stuff away from killers to make the game feel even worse thus increasing tunneling even more. The perk has been around since 2016? Why now all of a sudden, it's never gotten the amount of complaints like old DH did. It also helps counter that broken FTP/Buckle Up combo that survivors are enjoying at the moment. The default attack cooldown is slow as molasses man come on.

My guess is they might think it's a bit much with Rapid Brutality so it's gonna get hit from 8 stacks to 6 stacks. Alternatively they could keep it at 8 stacks and nerf the boost from 5% to 4% which would probably be overall worse so hopefully it's the first thing I mentioned. I'd be very sad if it was anything more dramatic than this.

I totally disagree with them (probably) gutting Save The Best. If the perk is strong at the endgame - and weak at early game -, its more of a thing of the perk than any other things, as Hope and Adrenaline can be endgame clutch perks. Save The Best for Last is a good perk to punish absurdly altruist teams that will take hits without too much thinking, just for the sake of it.
I'm getting bothered by this trend on BHVR to reward bad decision playstyle nerfing killer perks and strats instead of leaving space to players to learn how to counter a perk or a strat. This is get even worse as they are not buffing any chase perks or releasing new ones but instead just gutting one of the best M1 perks of the game.

They need to remove 2 stacks and m2 hits on obsession also removes stacks. Problem solved.
12 -
Nooo what about poor demo/wesker/xeno/nemmy players who can't use their power 😭😭
2 -
They need to learn :)
5 -
The thing that they decided to do something to this perk is absolute cringe by itself.
11 -
I'd like them to change it so the hooked survivor becomes the obsession when they are unhooked. Players using the perk while camping/tunneling is the problem.
3 -
The most they should do is cap it at 6 stacks.
Anything more is overkill.
0 -
The most I'd do is to deactivate it within 12 metres of hooked Survivors and that it has no effect on Endurance hits.. only healthy to injured and injured to down.
3 -
I'm hoping it's a good change, and not a redundant one for STBFL. I play a ton of Pig and Myers, but it does more for Pig, being able to use the crouch attack. Hoping this won't be another hit to Pig in some way.😑
1 -
They need to remove 2 stacks at least and deactivate it in end-game.
0 -
And why, exactly, is STBFL getting a change?
This perk is extremely helpful for M1 killers. I don't see why it needs a nerf.
11 -
So I am seeing this as a change that goes with the whole -10% to all killers base attacks they gave a yar and a half ago. 8 stacks is SUPER strong especially for killers that can either 1 down on occasion or special attack to tunnel out the obsession once they full stack. And I do think adding in rapid brutality and batteries include makes them concerned.
3 -
I believe that they said that STBFL is still gonna be behaving the same essentially, but is gonna be getting some slight changes to how it works and with the fact that the perk is listed under "perk update" instead of "perk tweak" likely means that it's still gonna be a significant change in some way. So, with that information, my best guess is that they may be planning on giving it the Dying Light treatment by doing something like it'll deactivate completely if the obsession dies(just like with Dying Light), but that is just my assumption.

Because a Youtuber said it was a issue in end-game camping, and this community is full of sheep
8 -
I just want to clarify, that 2 stacks less literally changes nothing in normal gameplay. The outcome will be the same.
Would I be against it? No. DO IT! Again, it would change almost nothing.
The real problem with Stbfl isn't it's chasing potential. Why would we try to nerf killers that need help?
It's camping. Stbfl-camping should be nerfed.
2 -
Ah, that is truly unfortunate.
This habit of quoting content creators every time a new discussion pops up has to stop.
7 -
Nah, i disagree. STBFL was already insanely good perk. But after 2 stacks added to killer basekit, now it feels overtuned. They need to bring it to old version.
5 -
I assume survivors started to miss the stacked slowdown with maybe an info perk mixed in.
Because that's what we're going to see if they start to nerf chase perks.
4 -
Only change this perk needs is a notification to show up and reveal the perk after 3 stacks or so to help Solo teams. That way the obsession knows about it and can counter the perk.
STBFL is a bad perk on these killers. Relying on this perk when playing M2 killers can teach you some bad habits. Its better in the long run to have tougher matches while you learn to use their powers.
2 -
I assume it’s being changed to stop the anti-tunneling aspect. You can hit a survivor immediately off hook and suffer next to no distance lost even at 6 stacks. Hopefully they just reduce the stacks or make it so the person hook becomes the obsession, anything else would be unnecessary.

Nerfin STBFL would nerf weak killers and have little to no effect on strong killers. It seems like a strange choice to nerf it and I hope they rethink it.
7 -
I think it just needs to be 4% per token, M2 on obsession loses stacks and something done about its camping potential, anything more than that would be overkill. It doesn't need to be completely gutted.
1 -
RIP clown mains. They all run Rapid + STBFL
0 -
It to easy to farm stacks by the hook. Outside of that it pretty balance
0 -
Maybe hot take but the STBFL + Rapid combo is extremely overrated. STBFL is still doing most of the heavy lifting and is by far the better perk (and is a little too strong).
Rapid Brutality is only good on Singularity and maybe Spirit.
1 -
Do you know what 2 stacks do?
The best Stbfl does is this: the survivor gets to the next loop. This is what makes this perk so strong.
The survivor can't choose the next, the 2nd furthest or the 3rd furthest loop. They HAVE to play the next. If a survivor goes down without reaching another loop, they made a mistake in pathing, spun the killer pre getting hit or got hit on Haddonfield middle road. If none of these mistakes are made, the survivor WILL get to the next loop. Just not the second or 3rd loop after that one.
This is the true chasing strength of Stbfl. A survivor that just holds w to go to the loop that takes the killer almost travel across the map is wasting an insane amount of time. Especially for an m1 killer. Stbfl negates this. It's a healthy perk, that helps those that need help the most.
Nerfing 2 stacks would literally change nothing. The outcome is the same: the survivor has to take the next loop.
The real problem is Stbfl in camping situations. Especially in basement situations. If a survivor gets hit on top of the stairs, unhooking is literally impossible. They will go down before reaching the hook.
I dont get why people have problems with a perk that helps killers that NEED help and is useless on the best killers (except Spirit).
This perks chasing power is important for overall game health.
Nerfing it's chasing power too much will only result in one thing: more Nurse's, Bilghts and the likes.
Without the helping hand of Stbfl, the true problem of m1 killers will become glaringly obvious, resulting in nobody wanting to play these killers.
This is not some gen regression perk that can be exchanged by another. This is a VERY important perk.
5 -
To bring it back to old version you only really need to remove a single stack since its multiplicative old version 1.8s current version 1.62s with 7 stacks 1.76s
0 -
What about the M2 killers that run STBFL and completely rely on this perk? Imagine going against an M2 killer and they only M1. Wesker, Xeno, etc. It's pretty common and it's unhealthy.
Or Deathslinger's that are scared to lose STBFL stacks. It's a plague.
3 -
They need to learn.
As a Demo main, it really pains me to see people use STBFL instead of actually learning the Killer's power.
3 -
Nah I've run a lot of Rapid Brutality and it's amazing on Singularity but also Skull Merchant since you have basekit bloodlust, Clown for obvious reasons and Slinger to get you in range of another shot more quickly. I did the math and it's roughly 3 stacks of STBFL you get right away and doesn't care about the obsession and actually gets better when used with STBFL because you get to use more of the haste.
It generally ranges to being very average to a bit disgusting on killers it fits well with. STBFL is the stronger perk overall for sure but I've run Rapid by itself and it does not feel bad by any means.
0 -
But if they want to target an anti-tunneling aspect then they have to buff Decisive Strike. Which absolutely has to happen, because the amount of tunneling recently is insane.
However, nerfing STBFL doesn't actually do anything except make the game harder for M1 killers, and that will hurt countless killer mains out there.
3 -
i think they only need to disable it near hooks.
2 -
I don't think you guys understood I was being sarcastic
0 -
Sarcasm is hard to tell from text since tone is often removed.
0 -
because a big streamer (you know) started to complaint about it being ´´too opressive´´ and the entire community decided it's true
4 -
Ah, disappointing.
Everyone seemed to agree that STBFL was a good and healthy perk, particularly for M1 killers. That shouldn't have changed just because someone else said so.
3 -
That would kill the perk lol
Even on Clown and Skull I'd still take STBFL. Rapid is only really good on Singu because he's the single best M1 killer at negating the on-hit boost which is Rapid's actual counter.
2 -
The fact that people think there's anything wrong with this perk baffles me. Only killer it's even remotely problematic on is Demo because Shred has absurd range for how easy it is to land. Other than that, the perk is totally fine.
2 -
I'm not trying to suggest Rapid is better than STBFL just that it's very good in it's own way and there's more than just Singularity that can use it well. I will say Rapid probably has a higher floor than STBFL in terms of giving you results consistently but STBFL's ceiling is much higher. There's also some scenarios where the obsession is the weak link of the team which makes STBFL very annoying to use which is not a problem Rapid has but that only happens every 4th or 5th game or so.
0 -
Not because it's oppressive, because of M2 killers that are too lazy to learn their power and rather rely on STBFL instead, or hold their M2 scared to hit someone to save stacks.
0 -
I really think Singu's teleport is the make or break for Rapid. Killer weapon wipes take such a huge chunk out of your distance that an STBFL token count anywhere higher than 3 beats out Rapid basically everywhere else. Moreover, STBFL is not only great for keeping distance, but it's also vastly better when it comes to M1'ing a survivor and then following up with an M2 ability on killers like Artist, Demo, Pyramid Head, Deathslinger, Chucky—hell, even unlikely candidates like Knight, Twins, and post-buff Trickster can benefit greatly from this aspect of the perk, albeit more situationally so.

Lose stacks when the obsession loses a health state by any means
deactivate when the obsession is dead
done
2 -
Yes exactly it's not fair how m2 killers literally just remove the counterplay for it.
Also i wouldn't be against making it easier for obsession to counterplay the perk either. Like maybe when you are obsession and survivor other than you gets hit killer aura gets revealed.
1 -
Disagree.
On killers like Wesker, other perks are by far more optimal.
The BEST user of Stbfl is pig (for a ton of reasons, I will not go into right now). How dare the op pig use her almighty ambush to save her BUILT UP Stbfl stacks.
The other 2 best users are Demo and Trapper. Literally what is the issue if these killers save their stacks?
The perk has to be build up. It's not at 8 stacks at the start of the trial. All 3 of these killers need the extra push in chase.
Why do we want to destroy a perk that helps out the weaker chasers and doesn't help the stronger ones??? (Spirit excluded. Although she also can't save her stacks)
3 -
Disagree
2 -
Im gonna try that on piggy, how do I hold my power???

As you can see friend, content creators influence sadly also leads to bad decisions.
3 -
YESSS!!!
Camping is literally the only thing that makes Stbfl problematic.

I main pig and I rely on this perk. I'm not sorry to admit that, I'm proud.
This perk helps to what I do best. Playing m1 killer.
