Wraith needs a minor nerf
I came back to DBD after a long time and didn't realize how much this killer in particular had changed.
Lightburn was a major counter that I'm not sure should be brought back, but at the very least I think the wraith should have to commit to the decloak after a certain point. It sucks when you use an exhaustion perk to try to escape a nearly fully decloaked wraith just for them to go "hahaheehee jk I'm not actually decloaked." And I don't mean halfway decloaked and go, I mean right before the last bell ring he cancels and cloaks again.
If the wraith was forced to commit halfway through the decloak I think that would really help give a little extra counter play without being too oppressive.

Nah. Wraith is fine.

"And I don't mean halfway decloaked and go, I mean right before the last bell ring he cancels and cloaks again."
This is an expert Wraith player. His nuances lie in the cloaking-decloaking mechanism and in the associated mindgame. Can be very annoying and I often lose against such a player in SoloQ but I think he is fine.

I'm not saying it needs to get like hard nerfed just that after 75-80% (heck even 90% would be good enough imo) he should be forced to commit to the decloak is all. Like you said, the mind game aspect is super important to that mechanic but there needs to be a threshold rather than just if you have decent ping and let go before the bar is full you fully cancel.

So the killer made to catch up through exhaustion cant mindgame exhaustion perks if their used at the time he mindgames the uncloak? Seems alittle weird since thats part of his design to force out that stuff and catch up.

Wraith is fine for the most part... though...
Actually something I would like to ask, would any high skilled players have any suggestions for dealing with his silent uncloak iri add-on? I played against one the other day, and against high walls I genuinely couldn't figure out what the hell I could do other than just keep letting him chew through pallets, or just slap me down. One of the things I've been trying to do against Wraith is not just camp pallets and throw when he uncloaks, I actually try to mind game and save resources... However with the iri add-on....
If I try to leave the loop while he is cloaked, he just follows and uncloaks in a dead zone and hits me. Usual Wraith issues.
If I try to stay at the loop working around a pallet\window, he can obviously use body blocking strats to get a hit. Usual Wraith issues.
However trying to mind game around windows and pallets and make him commit... I really struggle do that against this add-on... he can just uncloak around high walls and I have no warning that he is doing so, I have no idea most of the time if I should move or stay. It basically means I have stay in sight of him at all times, and stay close enough to a strong resource to use it when he commits, where the tiniest delay in reaction time means I'm eating a hit... and I'm back to just burning resources again.
I suspect it's my inability to quickly idenitfy loop structures with windows and chain them together efficiently to beat the Wraith to them... but with the silenced bell, I just dunno what to do instead of camping windows and pallets, and just hop quietly when I suspect he is uncloaking and praying he guesses wrong. Any tips would be appreciated.

Isnt there still a crackling sound even if you don't hear the bell anymore? I remember hearing about wraith having 2 noises associated to his uncloak. The bell. And the crackling of his form changing.

The only problem I see is that all maps get small and he stays the same speed, which makes it on most reworked maps impossible to win. Especially when all loops are garbage.

If there is, its very quiet, maybe I should up my game audio... cheers!

im not sure whats more sad. the fact you think wraith needs a nerf or the fact bhvr has a decent chance at nerfing him in the future

That's basically it; at a certain point it's really not down to skill or mindgames but to ping. And while I really want to agree that that shouldn't be a thing, ping as a factor is not eliminate-able from an online pvp game. There might be a very thin line where the ping situation is mitigated without compromising the cloak-mindgame - but I wouldn't count on it.
Personally, I do think Wraith does need minor nerfs/changes/adjustments but most of it comes down to an add-on-pass and just how much he benefits from some of the perk changes and not his current basekit. But since some of those perks are getting changed again I'll hold off on that one for now.

Um... if he cancels his uncloak to chase you after using an Exhaustion perk, you still have the edge. His surprise is gone, and he still needs to commit to an uncloak before he can hit you. You have plenty opportunity to reach a pallet or something unless your positioning/ pathing is/was off.
And let's say he does get the hit, it's still Wraith. His chase potential nigh nonexistent without specific addons.

Bruh, this is probably the ONLY mechanic that expresses skill on wraith, there’s not reason to reduce wraith skill ceiling

Wraith is fine. He is honestly one of the nicest balanced killers.

Wraith is fine and honestly they probably don't need to touch him ever again.

that's why I'm saying anywhere from 75-90% would be fine with me, but there needs to be some kind of trade off when it comes to "skill" in mind gaming exhaustion perks. The skill right now is just letting the button go before the bar is full and he will get an instant full cloak again to tease out exhaustion perks.
There's nothing forcing the wraith to commit to a full decloak other than ping and lifting your finger off the key before the bar is full. I get the design, just make him commit at 90% full or something is all I'm asking

The counterplay is recognizing the wraith player is someone that does that and greeding the resources (pallets, DH, etc) you would otherwise use
They should bring lightburn back it was fun
