MMR needs to be reset or reworked for gods sake

Reason: Low-MMR-Hell is the worst experience you can have. Matchmaking with MMR is abysmal.

I cant bear that MMR-matchmaking nonsense anymore. The games are 90% the same: playing as duo and getting matched with two randoms that have not enough skill to last 10s in a chase or make the worst possible decisions. The killer is most likely tunneling or using other circumventing playstyle. Or you get those 10k rush-hit blights and undefeated nurses that stomp anyone in sight, even though youre in low-mmr-hell. And you cant get any mmr points due to mates ruining the game if not the killer already does by tunneling you out. If i have to deal with annoying killer plays, at least give me mates that may be able to do something about it. So it needs to be reset frequently at least if you still cling to this mess of a system.

Also those backfill lobbies are just the worst. Escpecially if new players get backfilled into higher lobbies, youre just scaring newbies away and make veteran players suffer.

But to be honest, the whole MMR systems needs to be reworked. It was unncessary to begin with as rank system was way more detailed in representing skill. MMR like this (kill/escape) has no reason to be in an asymetrical game like DBD.

@Chaosrider what does "resetting" means in case of the MMR System?

Do you wanna flush players out of it by random while they are in Queue?

    What is being reset?

Resetting means setting the MMR back to starting value.

You can do it however you want. Cancel out queues and games or not. Doesnt really matter.

I feel like MMR should exist, but it needs change. I think that the only thing that really stands out in demonstrating one's skills is chase. For survivors, how long they can last in chase, and for killers, how fast they can end a chase. I don't think that healing or repairing gens in general requires a lot of skill. Chase however does.

That way, if a survivor holds a chase for 3 or more gens, and then gets camped to death on their 1st hook, their MMR would increase, because they held the case for a long time. The killer's MMR should go down a lot, since it took them ages to down that person. And with that, we would need individual MMR gain/loss, instead of the current team gain/loss.

I really hope that they address this. Getting matched with teammates that are new and/or much less skilled than me doesn't feel good at all. They need to face an easier killer, and I need teammates more matched to my skills.

Of course, chase parameters that influence MMR should change based on killer - for Nurse, it would need to be vastly different than for let's say Pig.

If you experienced matchmaking prior to MMR, you should know for a fact it was immeasurably worse. It's far from perfect as is, but it works as intended. Back then, a good killer could go on massive winning streaks fairly consistently because survivors they'd match up against were (no offense to them) just much worse. Nowadays? Win streaks come and go, and matches are generally fairly balanced, to some extent

that is not really possible assuming mmr works properly. if your low MMR and you constantly die, you will not be matched against unwinnable nurses and unwinnable blights because they'll be too high for your MMR bracket. If you do get matched with Nurse or Blight, they'll likely be downright terrible like nurses that miss almost every blink or miss every blight rush.

Being low MMR on survivor means you'll face bad killer players and you'll equally get equally skilled survivors as yourself. you get bad vs bad.

Do you really understood old rank/emblem system? It was so much better than this, it doesnt even comprehend. Also how about those massive win streaks as killer by now? Its worse than before for survivors.

But MMR doesnt work properly at all cause the stats used are unreasonable for such a game and the matchmaking is all over the place at times, cause of backfill lobbies. And those occur by far to frequently as killers lobby shop the hell out of this game. You dont have to explain how mmr works in other games. mmr in dbd doesnt work like this. this is not your everyday shooter.

Whether or not they set a proper win condition, it's working just fine.

HOT TAKE: I actually enjoy MMR as it is now. Since they upped the treshold for MMR I ended up below it and my games' QoL increased significantly. When i ended up with a SWF with friends things turned sour quite fast....

It would be perfect if you can actually get back under this threshold again once you cross it, but from what I understand you just simply cant :D
