Does anyone like new menu?
I haven't seen any good feedback about it on ptb, but it doesn't seem to bother the devs much. Does anyone like it at all?
I usually play role with bp bonus and i hate that i need double click for it now.

I really dislike it

looks really bad tbh

Wait, they haven’t made any changes here??
8 -
There was negative feedback about it on the PTB, and for good reason. It looks bad.
31 -
I mean, hoepfully the intern got to learn something from messing around with this. But thats about it, it is terrible. And everyone should know this.
27 -
It's pretty horrific but I suspect they feel like they need it for new Events or Gamemodes.
20 -
I really hope that's the case here. If it is, wouldn't it make more sense for the devs to roll it out when it's actually needed rather than in this weird transitional state where it looks and feels awful?
There's also a good chance that this was yet another case of putting resources into something nobody was asking for, was universally disliked by the community, and made it live into the game anyway.

Just another day of good work at BHVR
10 -
Perhaps.
It's like the original HUD change. Was it needed for future mechanics? Yeah. Was it good when it came out? No.
4 -
another thing they changed when nobody asked for it... why are the devs keep doing annoying stuff like this?
16 -
Every UX designer I’ve ever worked with always talks about reducing clicks and reducing the friction between a user and what the user wants to do. This change seems completely backwards.
36 -
Weird that the only other main menu options are the ones where you can spend money, on the rift pass or on cosmetics. Much more important than “playing the game.”
11 -
no. having the menu be always the same is better than changing it during events.
now, if this menu is the better option of menu is another conversation alltogether.

I don't hate it, but I don't understand why they changed it either. It was fine how it was.
4 -
No, it's terrible and wastes players' time.
20 -
It looks so bad.

i'm genuinely surprised it went through to live, i saw no positive feedback about it on ptb. kinda a shame really

Horrible UX.
Having to click multiple menus just to queue up for a match is awful. It was already bad before i had to.
- Click a button on the title screen
- Click the queue i want
- Click the character i want
- Select the perks i want
- Select the addons/items i want
- Select the offering i want
- Click "Play"
- Click "ready"
That's 8 touch points before i can even get into a match in the worst case. In the better case its at least.
- Click a button on the title screen
- Click the queue i want
- Click the character i want
- Click "Play"
- Click "ready"
Now you add another menu to that?

Hey folks. To shed some light on this (no pun intended), we needed to make this change to support the new modifiers feature and the first modifier, Lights Out. Modifiers are optional and run in addition to the regular mode rather than changing normal matches, so they need their own buttons to queue up as a Killer or Survivor. There sadly would not have been enough room on the main menu to squeeze two more buttons in, so this was a necessary change to support the feature.
That said, we have noted the feedback about requiring additional steps before you can play and will pass it on to the team.

interesting but why is it here way before lights out is even started?? now we're going to have it for a week and not even have the game mode for it so we're playing through an inferior UI for no reason. come on.
also, it would've been 10x smarter to put rift/shop in the dropdown menu rather than the play mode, you'd also have more space and not inconvenience players.

I don't mind it

For some reason they decided to make an animation when you click wich makes it kinda slow to move around the menu
normal dev behaviour, change something to say that they are doing stuff for their game and when they get bad feedback change it back as it was before. 1 step forward 2 steps back

WOOO I LOVE HAVING TO GO THROUGH MULTIPLE MENUS TO PLAY THE GAME WOO BABY
14 -
Nope. Not at all. Of all the things to change or focus on in the game, the menu was the last thing that needed attention.
4 -
Its not bad, but its far from great or an improvement.
Like others said, more clicking. More tedious.
6 -
The thing is, most people already assumed it HAD to be done for the Modifiers. But I am pretty sure that I am not alone when I say that this was most likely not the best version you could have come up with, it looks more like the quickest version.
5 -
I think there was enough space for one more line. But if not, i think "Getting Started" could be replaced instead, because it is button that everyone clicks once in a lifetime at best.
At very least make "Play survivor" and "Play killer" separate please.

idc. ill get used to it.

yeah there were truly so many alternatives. moving the ui to the right side (temporarily until lights out leaves the game) to make more room, moving stuff like shop to the bottom of the screen to make room, making shop have a dropdown with other things instead of the survivor/killer dropdown to make more room, it feels they didn't think this one through much and ignored our feedback during the WHOLE PTB and are only just now considering it. major yikes, imo, and i'm doubling down on my original post that this is very disappointing.
4 -
I guess I'm in the minority, but it caught my eye, I really like it.
1 -
Oh, yeah, i completely forgot about this. Thanks for paying attention to feedback anyway!
1 -
I do not like it, at all.
6 -
How can the devs think this new menu was a good idea when the feedback was so negative???
7 -
Did they listen to any of the PTB feedback apart from Billy?
4 -
according to peanits, they pushed it out anyways regardless of feedback because of the new lights out event needing space :/

Just a small bit of feedback on the current in lobby text. Names over 15 characters currently cover the person next to them and its so large on killer the text all bleeds into itself. Not sure if its my settings or something, just gives me "trying to send a text on grandpas phone" vibes.
1 -
You're too quick! I was just about to delete this as I saw it answered elsewhere. Thanks.

No, at least not as far as I know.
2 -
For real they have been doing amazing work recently.

I dont like it.
4 -
If its not broke, we'll fix it anyway. Was nothing wrong with the last menu.

As a graphic designer, I'm most frustrated that it doesn't function as a collapsible menu.
I understand everyone else's complaints, and there is definitely something to be said about the number of menus the average user needs to navigate through just to play the game... But because it's intuitive, and expandable menus are extremely satisfying to use, the change would be much better received if there was real feedback to clicking PLAY.
The menu animation is somewhat jarring and unnatural. Contemporary design has conditioned us to expect that interface to expand without first fading out and then back in.
I'm not exactly sure what is planned for the future, but it looks like a generous amount of space has been left for the menu to expand and collapse without removing THE ARCHIVES or STORE.
Just my 2 cents.
P.S. Please take my resume, I'm looking for work XD

meh

There genuinely is nothing good about the new menu and that includes the comically huge font on top of survivors in pre lobby. Some UX designer trying to justify their job, it seems. A shame because the previous menu was perfect.
8 -
BHVR: Look how less cluttered the main screen is now.
Players: Wow, now I have to go through sub-menus just to select my role. 😫
7 -
It's mildly annoying having to click another button before playing but if it means adding alternate game modes then I can live with it. I've been asking for alternate game modes for literally years now. Such low hanging fruit and so many possibilities.
1 -
The clutter isn't a problem if it's functional. I don't care if the main menu has a bunch of buttons, as long as they're organized neatly and I can get to the thing I want fast, then great. Adding an extra click to the process isn't a huge deal, but it's an annoyance that wasn't there before, that doesn't need to be there.
9 -
Every unnecessary extra click in any UI is bad.
