Surprised this hasn't happened already, Map of the Realm feels like a necessity on him

What? You mean you don't like being quite literally required to run a brown addon at all times?

Seriously give this man an addon pass already

And Map of the realm needs to be changed and made inti his basekit, not even part of it, but entirety of the effect

Knight's counterplay is already quite limited (hold W once a guard is summoned) and with map of the realm even that counterplay gets weaker. Additionally, the add on has 2 effects but only mentions one in its description (increased detection radius is written but it also increases expansion speed). Apparently this is due to a coding quirk where the circle is coded to reach its max radius in a determined amount of time and doesn't account for the fact that the radius is larger with the add on. So I don't think it should be made basekit. The coding of the circle should be fixed first and then further changes could be made.

The counterplay is definitely not that limited: hold W, or go for the flag (which is probably the intended main counterplay), or touch pallets to screw with the guards' AI... You have multiple options, and it all depends on the specific situation you're in

Also, I have genuinely never seen a Knight without Map of the Realm on him. The character is already played as if the add-on was basekit

No knight will let you get the flag, so that is irrelevant and even if you "mess" with guard ai, knight can still react to your bluff and hit you anyway. Both of those options are only options if you have only the guard chasing you. If knight and guard are both chasing you the only thing that can save you is a god pallet/god window, which means holding W to prevent a hunt is the only viable counterplay in chase.
