Hide Prestige

Upon reading lots of different posts that claimed, that high prestige survivors were tunneled or lobby dodged, I made a discussion to ask how bad this issue really is. I personally don't understand why high prestige would make a difference to some people because you could just as well play a character for thousands of hours without leveling them.

The results however were clear. Many confirmed that they were indeed dodged or specifically targeted commonly. This has led to some players not playing their favorite characters anymore because they have no interest in sitting in a lobby for minutes on end. So instead of high prestige serving as a reward to show off dedication to a character, players actually feel as if they are punished for it. Which is quite the opposite of what should happen.

I also have had a few matches in which I performed badly on my P100 Hillbilly and was then prestige shamed. Fortunately, this seems like a rare occurance but it's bad enough that it happens at all.

This is why I ask for an option to hide prestige in pre game lobbies and end game lobbies as well. Killer players do not need to know, who has a high prestige character before the match starts and people that feel self-conscious about their prestige should have the option to hide it for everyone else in the end game lobby as well.

I think people are dodging lobbies when they see high-level survivors because they presume they are in a group together as survivor with friends, so they would rather just dodge that cluster F$@-! as a whole

I doubt the developers will implement a feature like this in the near futher because the developer said P100 are not very common. In addition, the developers need ages to implement or fix something so I guess we can expect something like this, Hide-Prestige-Mode, next year or later. I really hope this won't be the case because feeling safe is always important, especially in games/on the internet and if this helps to feel more safe it should be implemented.

I'm a P100 Artist and maybe get once or twice prestige shamed but no big deal because these type of "players" try everything to insult you - if not the prestige it will be something else. However, it is quit interesting that it seems like that survivors have more issues with beeing P100 than killers have (at least I see more topics from survivor pov than killer pov). So the question is why is this the case (= targing P100 survivors bc why dodging and tunnling is quit obviously) - if the theory is true. In addition, it would be interesting if some killerplayers really dodge or tunnel P100 because of their prestige or for different reasons.

Be honest, you know exactly what will happen if hiding prestige is optional. Anyone hiding their prestige will be assumed to be high prestige and the killer players that dodge lobbies that look too challenging will just dodge anytime they see a hidden prestige. It's no different than when survivors use anonymous mode. Because a survivor is hiding information, everyone assumes the worst about them and dips.

There's no point in doing half measures. You either hide it for everyone or you don't bother at all. This middle ground approach would solve absolutely nothing.

I am starting to suspect that bHVR may have tested this feature, and the reason they haven't moved forward with it is that, in 9 out of 10 games, the P100 isn't targeted. The issue with this is that in the 1 out of 10 games where it does happen, it feels terrible. It's about the Survivor feeling like they are being picked on for a special reason.

This is likely why players will continue to ask for this change until bHVR implements it, as there isn't necessarily a logical explanation; it's more about a feeling and a suspicion. Making players feel more secure and less like an optional target seems like a positive change. This is why I support removing the ability to see Prestige levels in the lobby.

I hope bHVR soon gives us a heads on their thoughts on this feature or the ability to give a vote on it on the next survey.

What makes you think they were analysing P100's getting targeted? I can't imagine they would be looking at that, as it would be difficult to sift through that data. They most likely were just examining how often lobbies with P100's were dodged.

I can imagine that, bHVR is very methodical and they have top data sifters.

God, you're optimistic. That's an enviable trait. I've only have heard them speak about lobby dodging messing up matchmaking, so I'm assuming that's the only metric they are analysing.
