Can console gamers PLEASE get chat function too
As a social gamer I like being able to say simple stuff like "gg", "well played", "close one" etc to my teammates. You don't need a keyboard to do it. Other games have this function on console even with crossplay. It makes no sense to me why BHVR would intentionally block console players from chatting in what is supposed to be a social party game.

Not to mention we literally have zero way of communicating with "friends" in-game. Someone added me as a friend after a match, and to my disappointment there isn't even a way to send a message?

I know it would be slower to type on console for most people but genuinely there is no reason console should be excluded from after and pre game chat. Even if it's toxic being able to interact at all makes the experience less...lonely?

Are any of our PC cousins really going to wait around for 14 minutes while I painfully type out a single sentence with my controller? Cause that's all I gotz! 🎮🎮

I think it's okay to exist. It would be great if we could communicate not only through text but also through icons and marks.

I'm not planning to write paragraphs of text, just being able to say a simiple gg would make the game feel less lonely on console.

It should be an option. It makes zero sense that chat is not offered on all versions of DBD.

Instead of a thumbs up that goes nowhere, could have that open a drop down with pre-written appropriate comments to select from. I’d expect 5-10 would cover pretty much all the bases, be quick to use, and avoid toxicity

That could help as well, but if the argument that console players shouldn't have chat to reduce toxicity then you may as well remove the chat function from pc players as well. Heck you may as well remove chat from every online game that exists because it can result in toxicity.

You asked for a way for console players to communicate. I offered one I thought could be easy for the developers to implement, thus improving the chances of actually being implemented. I'd expect the range of responses, written by the devs, would cover the large majority of cases and exclude toxic responses. I thought that last point would be a feature, not a bug. Are you suggesting you want the option to be (and other console players) as toxic in this game as you've seen elsewhere?

Why do you think pc players should have access to chat but console players shouldn't? I can't think of any reason for the disparity. If you're saying that chat leads to toxicity then pc players shouldn't have chat either, right?

Furthermore if someone doesn't want to see chat they could just add an option to disable it in the settings. This would all take like 5 minutes of coding, there's no reason we should be waiting years for this.

It would be nice if those of us on console could also change our in-game name without having to change our console ID, which can cause you to lose access to content you own.

Unfortunately I’ve been waiting for this since the text chat was implemented I think it’ll happen in a couple years.
