Painfully slow grind (and possible solutions)
After playing in the blood moon event, returning to standard BP amounts per game feels awful. It creates an excruciating grind that isn't fun and only seeks to waste time. I feel like now that the roster of killers and survivors has grown as much as it has, newer players, or players who purchase multiple characters just plain old suffer over minimal BP from matches causing them to spend hours for what might not even equal a single prestige. If BP could be purchased I would understand the desire for a painfully slow grind. To make money. But BP can't be bought. So what is the purpose of a painfully slow grind. I believe here are three changes that together can solve this problem.
1: Increase the base amount of BP players earn. Maybe 200% or preferably 300% of what's normal. This means prestiging characters to unlock their perks for all characters isnt painfully slow.
2: When a character is prestige 0, have their perks immediately unlocked for other characters. If prestige 1 unlocks the perks at lvl 1 why not have a P0 character just make their perks appear in the blood web at level 1 like general perks. That allows players who may not like pig for example to have access to her perks without the need to pump hours into a character they don't want to play and instead spend their very limited resources on characters they enjoy.
3: add an offering grinder. Allow players to recycle offerings they don't want to get back BP. For example. I will never in my life use any of the reagents. I have tons of them. I would much rather trade in my reagents to allow me to get more offerings I do want or help me prestige my characters faster.
I understand getting to high prestige should be an accomplishment. And I totally agree. But why do we need to make the grind to just prestige 3 so painfully slow by giving very low amounts of BP and then clogging up the blood web and inventory with useless offerings that we may not like or can't be used anymore.

Honestly, at this point of game, game is nearly unplayable UNLESS you play on event (anniversary/blood whatever/all that), and on top of that addons are pretty much infinite for any decent players anyway too.
It doesn't makes sense why they are so inclined to make new player experience as bad as possible really, we should have MUCH better base BP gain and stop being so ridiculous with all that bonus (1800% maximum with bonus + cake + incentive?).
3 -
It's not slow, you just got too used to the event gains. Events are meant to be eventful y'know.
3 -
New players are not new players forever, and they do not need every perk to be effective.
3 -
Except we have no reason to have so much of difference between two.
If we gonna fix BP problem by just slapping "heres an event where you get 10x bps", why not ACTUALLY improve it, rather than doing some ridiculous things with limited time.
It has happened once, for sure. doesn't mean that is enough.

I seeI see what you're saying but at the same time you haven't explained why there needs to be a grind like this in the first place. Again I'm not saying remove the grind entirely I'm just saying why is the grind so painfully slow. But let's say that your argument did make sense that still doesn't explain why there needs to be a grind and who would suffer from that grind being lessened.

Exactly for example during the blood moon event I was busy with a college project and wasn't able to dedicate nearly as much time as I wanted to dead by daylight and now that the blood moon event is gone I don't want to dedicate time to dead by daylight because I'm not really going to be making any significant progress towards getting my characters leveled up because of how you blood points I get from every single game

I meant to quote a reply in this post. Whoops

Doesn't matter, if new players stop being new players anyway, it shouldn't matter even if they are allowed to "have fun" in whatever things just like long term players.
Whether they need it or not is also irrelevant, the amount of perks are directly equivalent to fun we can have in this game, it's not like having less perks help them learn anything anyway.
On top of all this, it's not like giving them 3x bp every matches suddenly removes grind, they still has to play hundreds, if not thousands of matches just to get perks.

I guess there doesn't have to be. Give everybody everything and do away with blood points. If you want them to be so plentiful they no longer have value, that's tacitly the same thing. Just cut out the middleman.

I'm not saying do 1000x BP I'm just saying that making players play 30+ games to prestige a single character once is painful. And if you're trying to go for say evil incarnate you have to pump millions into the blood web for a chance of getting the addons you need to even attempt the achievement. I'm not saying there shouldn't be a grind I'm just saying the grind doesn't need to be nearly as slow as it is.
2 -
But the key point here is with the current system they have to play thousands.

Meant To quote this there. Idk why my quote button is bugging out.

30 games is not a lot. A million blood points is not a lot. I get several million on any given event.

I’d love a killer perk that lets you keep add-ons, some killers like Trapper or Pig become tremendously more fun to play with iridescent add-ons.

Do you consider "not being new anymore" to happen at 2219 hours or 665 hours?
There is literally zero reason for the current BP per match to require over a year of playing 40 hours per week of in-match time to get P3 to unlock all the perks on all the characters.

I don't think it's good to have game playable only during events… just saying
I refuse to play DBD when it happens neither side has 100% BP bonus, because I simply don't see it worth my time. I wish we still had BBQ and WGLF…
There is 35 killers and 41 survivors, so not even talking about prestige 100, just to unlock full content of the game, you are going to need around 250M BP… that's a lot and keep increasingSo that should be around 7500 games, let's say average game duration is 10 minutes + 5 minutes (loading, queue times etc). That's 1875 hours, which kinda checks out based on my experience at least.
Spending almost 2k hours to unlock full content of a game? Really?
Thing is not only locked behind insane grind, but also quite big pay wall for all those DLCs.
I would never recommend DBD to new players. Neither survivor or killer.

btw I wouldn't just increase BP gain, because using BP will become an issue instead (even with new system).
Wouldn't it be better to keep everything same and just decrease total number of blood webs per prestige?
Also remove limit per category and just keep total limit BP per match. Killers don't care that much, but it would help survivors.

I dont think using BP would be much of a problem. I just think an offering grinder, higher base BP and unlocking perks to appear at L1 in the BW when their character is P0 would fix the problems. Using it isn't nearly as big a problem as the grind to get the BP to use.

Thank You. I couldn't have put it better myself tbh. This is a pointless grind that's ungodly slow for no reason whatsoever and it's crazy to see people defending it with no real reason.
1 -
Yes. "On event" that's my point. The grind shouldn't be made bareable by an event. Ot should be made barnacle when there's no event and made slightly better during events.

My answer is simple give medals or game rewards for a certain amount things accomplished like the accolade system in Fortnite
Examples
Hooking the first 4 players none the same player
Healing all three players
Unhooking all other players
It gives a reason to play for certain things and it would greatly motivate the game to be better I think?0 -
That doesn't solve the problem of getting little to no BP in a game because there's no event and you've run out of cake/pudding/BPS
1 -
Thats the point reward BP great accomplishments besides getting a great skill check, hits, hooks or stuns. Reward great achievements better ie medals or goals. Not only would it incentivize players to do better you get BPs to boot.

Uhm… We have 35 killers and 41 survivors in the game. That's a grand total of 76 characters. In order to get through the entire perk grind, you have to get them all to P3, which takes about 1 million (slightly more) BP per presitge level. So that's about 76 x 3 x 1 million BP = 228 million BP. To even spend that many BP takes an eternity even with the auto bloodweb.
Now let's go into it a bit further. Let's say you only play killer with the incentive or BP offerings and you get about 70k BP on average per 10 minutes match (which is much higher than in reality). Then it takes you about 3258 games. Add in 2.5 minutes for queue times, lobby and loading screen (again shorter than in reality) and we get a grand total of 40,714 minutes = 678 hours.
If you played 5 times per week for about 3 hours per session (15 hours per week is more than the average player would have), then this would take you 45 weeks. That's about january to november for someone who plays a lot of DBD and we have not factored in any new chapter releases yet.
This is free-to-play levels of grind. But DBD isn't actually free-to-play. You pay for the game and then pay for most of the content again (or spend thousands of hours unlocking free characters, which doesn't help the issue). And that's, if we're very optimistic and only consider the bare minimum of the grind. Now what happens, if you actually want to bring a character to P100 before all that? That's 97 bloodwebs more. And the next chapter is only 3 months away.
At least @Novapheonix22's idea for an offering grinder should be considered. There are 12 offerings that increase BP gains in one category for 1 player and not even by a lot. They just aren't good enough to even bother equipping them and they clog up the bloodweb. Congrats: Your green offering gave you 100% more BP (10k max) in one category. That's really gonna speed up the grind.
