So.. how's Sakado now? Is it worth buying?

I heard she's been reworked twice, so is she in a good spot now? Is she fun to play?

The condemn mori looks very cool, but I heard it's borderline impossible to get it now, is it?

So what do you guys think? Should I grab it when it's on discount?

    She is not as bad as some think she is. However, she does take a lot of effort and experience to really shine. You can still play a very aggressive condemned game and her chase power is also not as bad as it used to be.

    Whether or not you should buy her depends on you. Sadako is not an easy killer to get into because you need a lot of map awareness and because her chase power isn't great there are no shortcuts. But if you're willing to learn how to play her, then she is a pretty good and fun killer.

    Better than people think, but still very bad. Against bad players that ignore her counter play or have no idea what they’re doing, which is a good bit of people, she’ll do good. However, we can say that about any killer. She also requires a lot more skill to do well with now than people realize. Many people that don’t play her think you just spam teleports and get free condemns, which couldn’t be further from the truth. Her skill ceiling is deceptively high.

    Against actually good survivors she’s trash though. Her counter play is way, way too easy with little you can do yourself to prevent it even if you know what they’re doing. She would need significant buffs to actually be called “good”. She also has multiple very significant bugs affecting her currently that are quite significant related to her passive phasing.

    “Most” the Sadako community agrees she’s quite bad and have been patiently hoping the devs finally throw her some buffs again to make her viable and more enjoyable to play after the complete gutting they did to her on her last patch which left her in a pitiful state.

    Her passive phasing is nearly useless and not even worthy of being called anti loop. Her stealth is non existent since she has a “lullaby” that tells them you’re there anyway and it’s directional. Her condemn is basically never happening unless the survivors let it as you have nearly zero control over preventing their stack removal anymore. Zero punishment for holding tapes now. They get locked in stacks per hook of a max of three but is basically irrelevant because by the time you lock in any significant amount they’re dead on hook anyway making the entire feature counter intuitive. Condemn has to be done at 1 hook or less or the condemn becomes irrelevant. The vast majority of her addons are also garbage. Turning off TVs is way too easy now because not only can they hear them but they show their auras removing any skill required to turn off your power. Also seeing those TV auras removes all surprise from teleport cut offs since they see exactly where you’re going to come from before you even do it, give a global sound queue that you’re doing it AND it’s directional. Her teleport is decent but then it’s also controlled completely by the survivors and they can turn that off heavily. Killers don’t like when survivors control their power and get to dictate whether they get to use it or not.

    Just so, so, so many negatives, features that don’t function how they should, and easy survivor counter play with little you can do to counter play it yourself. She was bad at literally everything but condemning and then her condemn was nerfed badly too leaving nothing to replace its current pitiful state.

    Its just a m1 killer with map teleport and no other power

    here chase power is not a power really

    Id rather play clown as m1 killer, at least he makes me laugh

    I don't want to totally discourage you from getting her though. I personally still find her fun.

    You can do very well on the majority of your games if you get very good with her. As mentioned the average survivor is pretty bad so you can still have a good time. It's just gonna basically be an auto lose when you finally go against an actually good group. You can help alleviate some of those auto lose matches if you can tell in lobby they're gonna be a 4 man on coms by throwing a map offering since Sadako is one of those killers that can be extremely stronger on certain maps.

    You can win regularly even with bad killers since there's so many bad survivors, you're just relying on getting bad survivors unfortunately.

    I'm currently on a 50 win streak with Sadako with a roughly 97% win rate. Data pool of 161 games with only 6 losses and 0 draws. Most all of the games recorded. So you can perform well even if she's bad if you really reach her skill ceiling.

    Id say go for it! shes a fun killer with a unique playstyle, and also has a high skill ceiling.

    After her first rework, she had a playstyle where you could spam teleport and, if done right, condemn around 2 survivors per match. However, this was changed, and her only remaining playstyles are: 1) survivors knowing how your power works = you lose or 2) they don't = you might win. Only worth buying if you really like the character and/or your MMR isn't high and you usually face bad survivors.

    is it out of sync or is it duration of invisibility bugged? those two are different problems. If it is out of sync, it means you can phase mid-way invisibility. that becomes confusing for killer player but you can adapt to that.

    She's like a buffed up version of how she was before her first rework, if that means anything to you. Not as strong, but still decent against most teams. There are plenty of Survivors out there with no idea how to counter her power.

    I think she's still fun, but I'm only an occasional Sadako enjoyer and I very rarely go up against the really strong survivors. You can make the argument that she can't compete against an organised and efficient team, but that's true of most of the Killer roster if they're keen on playing "nice".

    Sadako definitely still needs help. She has A LOT of negatives to her. Way too many if you ask me.

    It's both. Also the desync one can't be played around as it's not a static desync, it gets progressively more and more out of sync.

    It’s both. It’s completely out of sync the longer it goes on and the duration is WAY off. It’s suppose to be 1.2 basekit. 

    It’s 0.88 bugged right now. With reikos watch Addon it’s 0.97

    It's so significant on the bugged duration. Like .88 is almost half what the duration is supposed to be, that's a lot.

    You can still get the mini mori if you use certain add ons to increase the factor. Beside that she is the only one who can have no collision on survivors bodyblocking you.

    mhmmmm - it’s horrible. What’s worse is that’s. It even the strongest part of her power, it barely trips people up at all because of the directional lullaby but it’s better than nothing I guess when they fix it.

    glad I don't play anymore. too boring. I am going to be patient and wait for her 3rd rework which hopefully makes condemn and passive phasing equally relevant without either one of them over-showing one another.

    If you go to my profile you can see my stream recordings, I usually verbalize my thought process and decisions to give you an idea.

    Bloody Fingernail is basically an auto lock for me as a majority of your hits will be from your TV speed boosts catching the survivors out of position. After that Ring Drawing and Videotape Copy are decent for more Condemn. I personally always autolock Remote Control as my second addon though as I think it and Fingernail are her two best. Remote Control gives you very crucial game info for managing your TV and condemn pressure.

    Use your Demanifest around loops. They'll either instant drop, you won't get stunned, and you've removed the pallets fast, or they greed it and then you immediately manifest getting the hit before they get back around. Once all of her flickering bugs are fixed you might have some mind games to use there "potentially" but it's definitely too broken in its current state.

    Just remember you're a macro killer, not an anti loop killer. Your focus is managing all the survivors and their condemn stacks, not just chasing one survivor for too long. Very rarely am I ever getting two hits on one survivor in a row from healthy to down. Hit, leave, hit, leave. You don't wanna be playing a hold w simulator. Your hits are from TV teleport speed boosts, not chasing them down as an m1 killer.

    Her biggest skill component that has a lot of nuances to it to learn is juggling TV's and condemn. It's a balancing act. You want to be teleporting as soon as TVs turn on. This because you want to limit their ability to pick up tapes. You have very little agency in preventing condemn removal once they have a tape, so your strongest prevention is them getting the tapes in the first place. That said, you also don't want to be teleporting to TVs solely to turn them off, you want high condemn output from them. So as soon as you teleport at the start you look how many condemn applications you get (their portraits will light up for a couple seconds if they get a stack). If you get 2 survivors receiving stacks it's a maybe, 3 or more survivors getting stacks though? Start teleport spamming to wrack up their stacks. 1 or less stacks stop teleporting. You don't want to waste your mobility and condemn pressure for that little.

    Remember condemn is applied around turned on TVs. This means the more TVs that are up the more chances to apply you have and less TVs, less condemn. So you're getting the best bang for your back on early teleports and getting diminishing return the more you do it.

    This is where Remote Control comes in for auras. If you see them by a turned on TV getting condemn stacks from your teleport and ignoring the turned on TV, punish them. Start spamming other TVs to make that TV by them keep piling their stacks on. Are they not ignoring the TV and going to turn it off? Then don't get greedy and immediately teleport to that TV to prevent the tape pick up and probably a hit. So you need to understand when to teleport to a TV that you know a survivor is right next to and when not to. It all depends how the survivor is playing. Even though I know I can get that hit with them right there by that TV I want to pile those free stacks on them first if they aren't respecting it, but you don't want them getting that tape either. This is the balancing act between knowing when to keep TVs on near them to get the most value out of it and when to remove it so they don't deny your value. You don't want to get too greedy.

    Condemn stacks are more important than hooks. Yes hits and downs are important but if I know I can pile some free condemn stacks on them I'd rather let them stay on that gen or circling that loop getting 3 condemn stacks instead of a hit.

    Be patient on your teleports. You want to give them as little time to react to your teleport. So if i teleport and see a survivor aura running to a TV across the map I don't teleport immediately. Let them get closer and teleport RIGHT as they're getting up to it. This guarantees the hit. If you teleport as soon as you see them heading to the TV they will react too soon.

    All this macro juggling is enabled with the help of Remote Control which is why it's one of my auto locks. Other wise a lot of this stuff you have to guess.

    If you have the option of multiple survivors I'll prioritize either the one with a tape to destroy it or if it's one I know has a lot of condemn stacks and I want to lock them in. You'll generally have a sense of where people are at in their stacks as you see that white ping around their portraits every time they get a stack.

    Now here's another trick most people don't utilize for free map info built into her kit. Since you can see when survivors get condemn stacks on a teleport and you know they only get stacks within a small radius around turned on TVs you can use this to know survivor locations. If I teleport and get no stacks applied but one side of the map has all turned on TV's then that immediately tells you all the survivors are on the other side where the TVs are off and no one is on the side with the turned on TVs. So you pay attention to where TVs are on or off when you teleport and how many or who gets stacks. This will tell you where survivors are at in general or ones specifically you're trying to target that have high condemn. Even end game after you closed the hatch and your watching the gates, same thing. Leave one TV on near a gate and none on near the other. Teleport to other random TVs on the map. No stacks? Then you know what gate they're by. Stacks? Now you know they're near that other gate or heading towards it. Every time you teleport, stacks, stacks, stacks…no stacks on that last teleport..what does that mean? Well if they all the sudden stopped getting stacks then that immediately tells you they are near that last TV you just teleported from.

    As you can see there is a lot of depth to Sadako that most people don't realize.

    I've played Sadako since release and I'll only talk about her current iteration.

    If you enjoy M1 killers, she's fine. Her slowdown still exists to a degree and she can avoid being bodyblocked in some cases with demanifest and can catch some survivors off guard with her intermittent visibility post-manifest.

    But, as of now, you can negate her stealth with the visual heartbeat monitor since it shows lullabies and Sadako's demanifest has one, not to mention it's a directional audio lullaby. Her power is easy to deny and keep under control if survivors spend the extra few seconds to do too, I have matches where I often have no TVs to teleport to because one or two survivors run about turning them all off but this is map dependent to some degree. Her intermittent invisibility is also something survivors can adapt to at loops so mindgames aren't always going to help. I also noticed BHVR or perhaps the new engine update changed her TV spawn logic on some maps, making some TV locations even worse to teleport to (Under piano room on Midwich for example, at the reception desk so you'd need to break 3 walls to get to the generator above when the TV used to be in the bathroom right next to the room) while swamp maps still place some TVs at the edges of the map facing the outer walls. Very frustrating to say the least.

    That said, she has more power expression than some would assume. Tall walls and aura reading perks are a great combination with her manifest (her blurry photo addon that makes survivors who witness your manifest scream and reveal their aura for 3 seconds for example is, in my opinion, sorely underrated) and the ability to ignore pallet/locker stuns while demanifested means you can time your demanifest in some situations to break pallets faster or avoid being bullied. When you do have TVs, you have the advantage of them having a shorter cooldown when teleported to, and if you can figure out if a survivor is ignoring them or a gen, teleport to a few other TVs then to theirs to punish them with more condemned. They also made it where hooking a survivor locks 3 condemned stacks max per hook, meaning anyone on death hook could potentially have up to 6 un-cleansable condemned stacks. There are other niche scenarios as well, like how I recently learned double Iridescent Sadako is actually really great for information since the remote shows survivors within 12 meters of a TV for 6 seconds (I think 6 seconds off the top of my head) while Iridescent Tape removes condemned per teleport and slaps a 20% increase in TV cooldowns when survivors take tapes in favor of TVs not turning off when you teleport.

    That said, if you don't enjoy the M1 game with mindgames, you may not enjoy Sadako since she relies on M1 and mindgames for downs. I wouldn't call her weak, but she's not as strong as Wraith. Somewhere above Freddy and Myers and below Wraith and Singularity in my opinion.
