a perk to bring back old hatch mechanics somewhat

remember old hatch mechanics which made it appear once an there were as many players still alive as there were gens done ? there really wasn't any downside for the survivors, it just appeared by progressing the game and one could just bring a key and it's good.

How about there was a perk that could do that. i.e. for each survivor currently alive and bringing the perk, the hatch would appear 1 survivor death earlier . e.g. if all survivors bring the perk, then it's exactly like old hatch, but if only 3 bring the perk, then the hatch wouldn't appear at 4 survs alive and 5 gens done but only at max 3 survs alive and 4 gens done

if there is only 1 surv left, the hatch works as it currently does

if this still seems too strong, then i guess we could make it so that this perk takes up 2 perk slots. This would finally create an alternative way to escape, which isn't the gates although it comes at the cost of perk slot(s)

and if this still isn't balanced enough, i guess there could be a mechanic where the killer can trample on the hatch which would make it dissapear until 1 more survivor is killed or 1 more gen has been completed (if there are any left)

With these changes though, all perks which show the hatch currently would only work when 1 survivor is alive as they would be way too strong otherwise

Okay but this is actually a pretty clever idea. Imagine being able to close the hatch mid jump instead of the grab. Or maybe that could be brought back since you can close the hatch and there wouldn't be standoffs anymore.

Id be cool to have a limited modifier game mode that reverts balance changes to like 5 years ago.

Keys became pretty useless with the current mechanic. You bring a key, everyone knows/assumes you are playing for hatch and will attempt to screw everyone else over to get the hatch. On the off-chance that you brought one in and actually randomly had a chance to use it, doesn't justify bringing it in. Should always be a key in one of the chests, imho.
