REDESIGN HAND-EYE COORDINATION ACHIEVEMENT, NOW
omg, how can such a horrible designed achievement even be in the game, first killer dependant survivor achievement, how is this even a thing? what if I don't face vecna in 5 months? I just can't get it because I'm unlucky?
So, I have to hope to face vecna, hope to roll a 20 and hope that my team is competent enough to win? Can we not make achievements that rely so much on hoping?

Don't forget to use the item too! I just saw someone in the Steam discussion forums claiming they played with a friend who did all that but didn't get the achievement upon escaping so there's a chance it's also bugged 😑

That is why they call it an Achievement, you did something few people easily do.
I personally like hunting for weird achievements if I'm bored with the game.
6 -
An achievement should be a challenge not a dice roll. I hunt for achievements in all the games I play and a bad achievement design is when it's almost entirely dependent on luck. It should be challenging in the sense that it's not easy but you have the control to retry for it which is not the case with this terrible achievement.

All achievements are based on luck to some degree.
All achievements can be grinded out eventually too.3 -
I got the achievement in my 2nd game as The Lich and I didnt even know it was an achievement.

man, I think we are talking about 2 different achievements, we are talking about a survivor achievement
1 -
pov: it's 2026 and only achievement you miss it's this one. nobody plays lich and you can't do anything to hunt it other than stream snipe lich players or trade win with friends.
This is not a (I'm not able to do something other people managed to do) this is just bullshit design, you can literally do nothing to hunt this achievement other than the 2 scummy things I listed above, would you call this good design?7 -
Luck-based achievement usually have the player able to at least get themselves in a position to try their luck again on purpose;
All the DBD achievement where you have to do a certain generator and escaping, just bring the right map offering and you can guarantee an attempt even if not victory.
Horrible opening Hatch challenge in modern DBD, If you play like a total rat and throw the game for your teammates this can possibly be attempted every games if the Killer doesn't find you.
The Adept achievements only have as requirement to own the perks (being in a SWF greatly enhances the chances of success).
You can't tell me with good faith that an achievement depending on facing a certain Killer AND getting lucky searching a chest AND escaping alive isn't a pretty bad achievement design, there's hardly any skill involved until you both face the right Killer and roll a 20.
If there was a way to purposefully face a certain Killer (outside of arranging to queue up at the same time as a friend and likely having to back out dozens of time) it would be different (it would still be meh due to the luck-based element of the chests) as the luck element wouldn't be dependent on other people. In a matter of weeks (maybe months but probably not, Vecna is nowhere near Wesker's league) this achievement will be insanely hard to get since Vecna pickrate will have drastically dropped and the hype will be gone (side-note: with people having more experience with the Killer, even after getting lucky it will be harder to escape).

Well... The bright side is it's not THAT unrealistic to find a hand or eye of Vecna. The chests open really fast, and as long as you always take the item, they reset every 2 minutes. It's also not like it isn't worth doing, as sering Vecna aura when he's using powers is certainly in your benefit.
I opened 5 chests in my trial as part of natural roaming around, and still managed to escape. The probability of getting either item is 23% or so in this case.
If you open 10 chests in the trial, then that is about a 40% chance of getting the item. Of course you've got to use it and escape is the wrinkle, but it's not THAT impossibly insane...
I still feel like Haemophobia is worse... you can take map offerings and have a 50% gamble on the map, just to attempt, and even when you get there, how likely are you to escape uninjured?

Yeah I recently got that one too like an hour later, the achievements are not an issue, you get em when you get em.
0 -
now it's not that hard to get, since it's vecna's day launch many people will be playing it, the problem with it is that to have a chance to do it you have to face vecna, one has 0 control on which killer they face and in some weeks/months and even years it will be harder and harder just facing vecna
1 -
I don’t disagree with your replies here in the thread, my main issue is having an achievement that requires a specific killer being played. Every other achievement up to this point you have essentially direct control over except this luck or not (I’m including generator repair ones, btw, because map offerings), except the survivor version of the achievement.
1 -
And you need to be the obsession too. Good luck with that.... I luckily did that years ago when the obsession could not be changed.

Oh yeah! That achievement too is rough.
Friends til the end 💀💀💀💀

Would you really stream snipe to get an achivement? like what.
0 -
About Heamophobia, I heard that No Mither helps with that one, as you don't bleed.
0 -
I heard about that, I haven't been able to prove it or not, and now I couldn't even if I wanted to as I already got it... but I have read that is a myth and doesn't work. Getting hit period seems to nullify the achievement.
Would be happy to be proved wrong though, cause that would be a clever trick, especially as a free perk available in tbe base game 😁

For the People and DS as well. Even if you use a single obsession perk it can still be someone else and if they use their perk after you, you are screwed.
1 -
are you even listening to me? I'm not saying I would do that and even if I wanted to do that it doesn't matter. I'm saying that since doing this is indeed scummy and pathetic having this as one of the 2 only things you can do to hunt it is miserable and mad designed, I have no idea how did you do to come out with this answer to my argumentation
1 -
Apologies, It was confusing to have you list of examples you come up with if they are something you would not do as a solution when there is a solution already. You will get it eventually, like is with ALL Achievements.
I am currently trying to get an achievement myself in another game. The chances of this achievement is 0.00288 every 17hours.
I wont cry about it, its a challenge and you can make your choice to accept it or not. I commend bHVR for making some challenges that are actually something you have to fight for when the chance is there. Its a cool idea and it gives people something to hope and strive for.
Unless, do you have like a real strong personal part of yourself that says you must get this achievement, like right now?
Is it called Achievement addiction? Completionism? Is that why scratches you in this? You dont have to share if you dont want to.0 -
Meanwhile Left For Dead and Hemophobia are still really awful to get.

It doesnt, the "dont lose a drop of blood" is flavor text, it means that you just cant be injured. And even if, you still leave blood if you are put in the Dying State with No Mither, so it effectively accomplishes nothing.

Every non-Vecna game right now as a survivor is extremely frustrating, because I know there's nothing I can do to make any progress towards this achievement. Even the Vecna games are pure stress as I try to spam chests non-stop, but whenever I get a hand or eye, Vecna goes into ultra-tunnel mode. Extremely frustrating trying to get this achievement so far, with how luck based it is.

What was Left Behind again? They changed that like 10x. I remember getting that during the age of Hatch-standoffs by 99ing 2 gens next to each other on swamp and then leaving through the gate with the lamp-tech (opening the gate until right before the 1st lamp glows, wait for the killer to check, then do the rest).

There is also an achievement for Vecna where you need to collect the Eye or Hand off a survivor and get a 4k. It does not work if that survivor dies on hook which happened a LOT.

Left For Dead (Idk why I thought it was Left Behind)
Complete the final Generator as the last Survivor alive and escape through the Exit Gates.
You basically have to bank on your team being horrible but at least good enough to do most Generators. You have to complete the final Generator before the Killer closes the hatch, then you have to advertise your exact location to the Killer, and escape through the Exit Gates before they kill you.
The only reason why this achievement is still in the game was when it was added back in the early days of DBD and you could complete the other 2 remaining Generators after the 5 Generators were finished, Survivor leaving through the gates contributed towards you being the last Survivor alive. It's an achievement that has only gotten harder as time has gone on while basically remaining unchanged.

What the.... Who thought this was OK?
Since EGC got introduced it's become hard beyond reason.

Older DBD has achievements that were generally harder or more grindy to pad out the playtime since the game didnt have much content back then.
Some examples:
- Shocking Treatment: Hit Survivors with Shock Therapy (Doctor) 500 times. Keep in mind this achievement only counts progress that actively progress Madness, so if they are in Madness Tier 3, you cant farm it off that Survivor until they have does the Snap Out of It action.
- The Man In The Bush: Stalk to gain a tier of Evil Within (Shape) 300 times. Keep in mind that EW has a limit to the amount you can do in a match, and good Survivors will always try to break LOS to prevent you from getting a tier of EW.
- Skilled Huntress (Pre-Patch): Down Survivors from 24-meters away with a Hatchet (Huntress) 100 times. This achievement was so horrible that BHVR patched it to be 20 in the current version, I dont know exactly when they did it, but it was sometimes between 2022 and 2024.
- Hemophobia: Escape the Crotus Penn Asylum without losing a health state. I dont think I need to explain this.
The issue is that outside of Skilled Huntress, none of these achievements have been updated to the modern DBD achievement format. A lot of them are just "do X 100/200/300/500 times" often with the X you are actively doing have a limitation to the action.

As someone who maintains 100% this is a nightmare. I am already not going against vecna anymore. And when I do I have to get the eye AND escape.
Stupid. There is way too much luck involved.
I actually wouldnt care if it was an even harder achievement, I dont like how I have to go against a specific killer, I have zero control over that. What if I dont see one for months?
I can see this being one groups get created on discord to try go against each other for it. Getting this in a public match with complete randoms will be hellish.

Any news on this? I have almost have 100 games, 0 vs vecna. This is not fun… :(

The dice roll isnt based on luck, the chest with 20 will have sparkles on it,and iit has a guaranteed spawn
And lich is a killer many use, played against one last night.

To some degree, maybe, but when achievements heavily rely on RNG they become bad achievements.
1 -
I really don't think an achievement is worth a breathless all caps post. They don't do anything. They don't have any impact on anything. I got this one by accident and it didn't change anything at all.
1 -
According to steam, more people have have the Vecna Achievement than most adepts. And this is just after 2-3 months.
I think you will be fine.
0 -
I mean, I'm perfectly fine.
It doesn't mean it's a good achievement, though. I got it on the chapter's release where EVERYONE was playing Vecna.
3 -
Since this achievement is 100% luck is nothing else, being at barely higher than adept really tells there is serious issue in the achievement, your reply literally shows how badly designed this achievement is
It's ridiculous to call it "fine" bruh
2 -
It does not show that at all, its ultimately subjective what your personal tastes are regarding achievements.
I think bHVR has been reasonable enough with the challenges they have given us, as both motivations to play the game and extra entertainment. I hope they add many more achievements like this and you can just not do them if you feel they are too hard or if they don't meet your personal tastes, right? I mean that is why I have not done the RE: Gate achievement for example.0 -
Hello!
Thank you for bringing up this concern, we understand how frustrating it can be to unlock this achievement and we're sorry that you've been having a rough time with it
However, since the achievement is still possible to attain, we are unable to change or remove it
Thank you for understanding1
