Unfortunately there is nothing we're able to do about this, the laws in Japan are very strict with regards to virtual currency and the expiration date of the Auric Cells in that region is in-line with those laws.

I don't really understand, I heard a speculation about BHVR is misunderstanding cryptocurrency law and in game currency law or something, I wishes for another internal review about that law or something

please refer to what Emeal linked, it shows the other games that have to abide by this law. There is nothing we can do on the matter - it's Japanese law.

I'm not exactly sure since I am not an expert, but to me it seems like this feature is there to avoid having an obligation to bank like half of the paid currency worth money to japanese administration (as which will be necessary past 6 months), it's kinda sad when a law that exists to protect people from losing paid things ends up working as a shredder to that exact things
companies from different country might have many difficulty to perform such process, I guess

I would say if MY COUNTRY had such laws, I would hope the game would tell me days before something like;
"Listen here buddy, we are legally obligated to remove your Auric Cells due to Japanese Law, your expiration date is [DATE HERE]"
I mean I know people dont like pop ups and being reminded, but I think its important and idd like to get reminded.

I wish I had an unlimited expiration date rift activator which is purchasable for same price at the very least, so I don't feel like "buy it and play like a job indefinitely, or else you'll lose out the in game currency"
This fact really stops me from buying rifts to be honest

I think I understand why Japan made this law. It's to prevent or mitigate people from spending money to virtual currencies. The expiration date encourages people from Japan to save their money from in-app or in-game currencies, especially those who are more prone to impulsive buying but I think that last reasoning may sound counter-intuitive since it doesn't completely teach them to use their money in the first place since they most likely already spent a bunch of virtual currencies. And why don't they just ban virtual currencies outright if they don't want their people to spend money in the first place? Who knows. I'm not a politician lol.

Sorry but that doesn't seems to be the case for me, it is not a law to stop virtual currency to exist, bur rather protect people from losing all of it before they can use it
All I saw was "a company must keep half the virtual currency worth of real money in case they goes bankrupt, but since this only came in after 6 months they can also circumvent this law by giving an expiration date of 6 months"
Basically as long as they don't mind extra work and having less money to use they have no problem in not having expiration date, just that some companies don't like it (or simply couldn't do such things idk)
And proof of this is majority of gacha games, online games or anything alike has virtual currency with no expiration date without any problem at all
And I highly doubt the rift key will be considered "virtual currency" in any way too

Could those AC's be turned into a huge amount of Irisident coins on the expiration date instead?
But 6 months is a long time. And people don't just by AC's just to have it. It is usually for a character or battle pass, or cosmetics.
But knowing they have 6 months on them to buy something. It isn't really a problem?
But does this effect when you complete the battlepass, and get the ac's back?

It does affect in a way where you have to at least complete a battlepass every 6 months, which really sucks for an effort it takes
