Will new Ptb Dredge be OP?

Looking at the ptb notes I believe all the buffs to outside his nightfall is great but one change has me concerned

Dredges anti loop holding his power he now moves faster.

This might be the new Scamper Chucky situation where he gets a guaranteed hit no matter what the survivor does.

Dredge can drop a remnant and keep up with the survivor and if the survivor drops the pallet or vaults a window dredge can just recall back to it and get a guaranteed free making him stronger then old scamper chucky

He’s still loud as hell so I don’t think these buffs will make his anti-loop much better outside of short loops where he already did well. Hold W is still going to be strong against him.

EDIT: oh whoops I didn’t read the part where they said he is quieter haha. Still don’t think this will change much for him, hold W will still counter him hard.

Nope, he still will be a garbage killer in my opinion.

    no he won't be.

he would still remain slower than the survivor.

he would still be capable of doing all the things he could except he would do them slightly faster & he won't be as punished as before which is fair for the kind of power that he has.

they omitted a key problem in his design. His teleport is too dependant on locker placement. he has nothing in his kit to mitigate rng. I agree that he might still be garbage. I also bet they'll nerf his add-on's like Mal thinker skull so it might not really a buff. a side-grade.

The key difference between Dredge's antiloop and old scamper was old scamper was nearly instant and pretty much impossible to react to. In comparison Dredge needs time to setup their antiloop and it's extremely telegraphed and still makes you slower than the survivor so given that no I don't think it will be anything close to OP.

I don't know that I see anything that really makes me think Dredge will be significantly better. They just have more freedom with their add-on choice because now you're not as dependent on ottomarian writing, malthinker skull and calendar.

Not op at all, but buffing its anti loop ability is imo the only bad change in the entire update. They could have instead made its teleport more consistent by introducing new locker spawns on maps that have very few, but chose to do this. The other changes are amazing though and I like them a lot.

No. It's still Dredge, just with all his numbers improved outside of Nightfall. He should feel a lot better to play at least, that's for sure.

Nah, he gonna be good (technically), more stronger, we gonna see in the futur if it was enough

    Buffs aren't even significant

  • Member Posts: 1,205

Yeah like you said, he depends a lot of locker placement, it doesn’t matter if you have a faster tp if the map has 0 lockers, at least they are improving the new maps for dredge, but even with this little buffs, he still will be a weak killer.

He's so low on the board I don't think a few buffs will make him "op". He'll be stronger, yes and I suppose from certain survivors points of view that means it must be op. We'll see in the ptb.

Okay I think there is one change being underestimated now that I'm doing the math. The teleport speed change is actually insane. First off it's even faster than Dredge is now with Boat Key equipped and on average your teleports are going to be 2 seconds faster which is going to add up and for comparison it's only going to be slightly slower than a Demo teleport.

Assuming the average cross map teleport takes roughly 5 seconds right now you can do 4 cross map teleports a minute and with the changes to cool down and teleport speed you can do 5 cross map teleports per minute.

So I think you're definitely going to be able to save gens you weren't before which is massive but the rest of the changes are meh. We're getting half a malthinker's skull, half an ottomarian writing and 75% of a calendar. None of these add-ons were busted we just needed them to make Dredge feel good to play.

Nah, he's going from bad to remotely viable, maybe.

The only change I think that'd have even the potential to be problematic is the movement speed when charging change, but I think it'll be ok. It won't be anywhere near as bad as Scamper Chucky since he'll be 3.8m/s instead of 4.4m/s.

From playtesting, we don't believe these changes will be too much, but I'd strongly encourage you to give it a try in the PTB and let us know if you feel otherwise! The PTB is the perfect time to push things to the limits and find balance issues.

I thought the key problem was that he is mostly an M1 killer in chases, and the PTB changes won't help fix that. Dredge will still be a "if it tries to use its chase power, then the survivor can usually just run away to the next loop or tile" killer.

Marvin's blood is probably nerfed, which would mean that Nemesis might be getting nerfed, because it would probably take more overall hits to reach T3.

The problem is that if T1 to T2 is reduced to 5 points, then the current Marvin's Blood can reach that in 2 hits on the same survivor. Marvin's blood would need to be nerfed to be less than +0.50 points, to prevent this. But if a nerf that big happens, without the T2 to T3 requirement being reduced, then BHVR is nerfing every Nemesis player that uses current Marvin's Blood.

Because let's be real, T3 is where his power really shines. And if these changes are going to make it more difficult to reach T3, then it's not worth it.

dredge is like knight. you use his power to make survivor leave the loop. when the survivor is cornered, you use his power to pincer the survivor because his clone allows you to be in 2 places at once. the only significant change that he got was lowering his volume in nightfall but it doesn't say by how much and the 0.75 →1 charge per injured survivor which also doesn't say very much because they might nerf his mal-thinker skull add-on so it functionally does nothing.

Not only that maps, I once loaded into Lerys with Dredge and though "Oh well, at least its an indoor map, there is basically a locker in every room and corner". Well, actually there isn't. I had to learn that in about 2 whole quarters of the map, there were NO lockers at all. Maybe I got extremely unlucky that game, but it was a real pain to get around and often I had to do really awkward teleports, just to maybe intercept someone. And the surprise teleport during a chase would only work on half of the map. That match was pretty unfun, to say the least.

dw hes still gonna be bottom of the barrel F tier

The buffs are perfect. More locker rng for him though would be ideal.

The buffs look pathetic and nearly unnoticeable. It's like they were too afraid to actually change anything with their proposed changes. He'll stay a underused C-tier.

You shouldn't worry about the Remnant speed buff either, it's not even a 5% speed buff. Very pathetic.

  • Member Posts: 3,563

Only buff the antiloop need is to look at survivor when you teleport to it like hag. It would probably mostly help console players.

  • Member Posts: 3,279

The buffs will increase him from upper D-tier to lower C-tier, unless locker RNG screws him then he remains the same.

    And that's being charitable.

Even if he doesn't become stupidly strong, he will at least feel better to play. That's not nothing.
